정유압식 래크바형 수문권양기의 개발 (Development of the Rack-Bar Type Sluice Gate Applying the Hydrostatic Transmission)

  • The typical hydraulic hoisting system of the rack-bar type sluice gate is composed of a hydraulic supply unit using an uni-directional pump, a direction control valve, a hydraulic motor, a counter balance valve, and flow control valves. Here, the hydrostatic transmission is applied to the hoisting system of rack-bar type sluice gate to simplify the operation of gate such that the upward and downward direction of gate is simply controlled by the direction of pump rotation. The new hydraulic hoisting system is composed of a bi-directional pump, a hydraulic motor, a counter balance valve, two check valves, two pilot-operated check valves, two relief valves and a shuttle valve. The characteristics of a suggested system are analyzed by computer simulations and experiments.

Highly Power-Efficient Rack-Level DC Power Architecture Combined with Node-Level DC UPS

  • This letter presents a highly efficient rack-level DC power architecture combined with a node-level DC uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The proposed system can provide almost the equivalent power efficiency of a high-voltage DC data center without any change in the existing power infrastructure. The node-level DC UPS combined with a power distribution board provides high power efficiency as well as lower UPS installation costs. Implemented on a rack, the entire power system can be monitored through a network.

Estimation of moment and rotation of steel rack connections using extreme learning machine

  • The estimation of moment and rotation in steel rack connections could be significantly helpful parameters for designers and constructors in the initial designing and construction phases. Accordingly, Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) has been optimized to estimate the moment and rotation in steel rack connection based on variable input characteristics as beam depth, column thickness, connector depth, moment and loading. The prediction and estimating of ELM has been juxtaposed with genetic programming (GP) and artificial neural networks (ANNs) methods. Test outcomes have indicated a surpass in accuracy predicting and the capability of generalization in ELM approach than GP or ANN. Therefore, the application of ELM has been basically promised as an alternative way to estimate the moment and rotation of steel rack connection. Further particulars are presented in details in results and discussion.

인랙스프링클러 헤드의 살수 특성 (Spray Characteristics of In-Rack Sprinkler Heads)

  • 본 연구는 랙크식 창고에 적용되고 있는 인랙스프링클러의 살수특성을 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 국내산 헤드와 미국산 헤드를 대상으로 흐름성능실험, 방사각도 측정, 각도별 밀도측정 등이 수행되었다. 국내산 헤드의 경우 넓은 방사범위를 가지고 있으며, 미국산 헤드의 경우 국내산 헤드에 비하여 좁은 각도를 가지고 있다. 동일한 K80헤드로 비교해보면 국내산 헤드는 직접 살수가 어려운 부분으로 물을 보낼 수는 있으나, 각도별 살수밀도는 낮은 수준이었다. 미국산 헤드는 상대적으로 좁은 각도 내에 국내산에 비하여 많은 량의 물을 보낼 수 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론적으로 랙크식 창고의 평면적으로 2열 이상으로 배치된 가연물에 대해서는 화재확산을 억제하거나 진압 효과를 가지기 위해서는 페이스 스프링클러의 도입과 함께 지그재그 형태로의 배치를 통해 살수장애지역을 최소화 해야 할 것으로 보인다.

자동차 루프랙의 형상에 따른 구조 해석을 통한 융합 연구 (A Convergence Study through the Structural Analysis due to the Shape of Automotive Roof Rack)

  • 최근 취미로 다양한 레포츠를 즐기는 인구가 증가하였다. 그에 따라 차량 지붕위에 다양한 물건들을 적재한 차량들을 거리에서 쉽게 볼 수가 있다. 차량 지붕위에 적재를 할 수 있게 하는 장치는 랙 이라는 장치이며 차량마다 각기 다른 형상을 가지고 있다. 다양한 종류들이 있지만 무거운 짐을 적재하기 위해 강도 및 내구성을 가져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 루프 랙의 지지대 방식과 고정대의 형상에 따른 구조 해석을 하였다. 세 가지의 모델들 중, Model C가 가장 좋은 내구성을 가지고 있음을 보였다. 따라서 어떤 형상을 가진 루프랙이 가장 안정성이 있는 것을 본 연구 결과로서 알 수 있다. 본 결과를 토대로 얻은 자동차 루프랙의 형상에 따른 구조 해석에 통한 융합 연구에 대한 설계데이터를 활용함으로서 실생활에서의 자동차 부품에 융합하여 그 미감을 보일 수 있다.

Counter Flow 방식의 랙 다이를 이용한 고정 밀도 Worm 전조기술 개발 (Development of Form Rolling Technology for High Precision Worm Using the Rack Dies of Counter Flow Type)

  • The objective of this study is to suggest the form rolling technology to produce high precision worm on the base of three dimensional finite element simulation and experiment. It is important to determine the initial workpiece diameter in form rolling because it affects the quality of tooth profile. The calculation method of the initial workpiece diameter in form rolling is suggested and it is verified by finite element simulation. The form rolling processes of worm shaft used as automotive part using both the rack dies of counter flow type and the roll dies are considered and simulated with the same numerical model as actual process by the commercial finite element code, BEFORM-3D. Deformation modes of workpiece between the form rolling by the rack dies of counter flow type and the roll dies are investigated from the result of simulation. The experiments using rack dies and roll dies are performed under the same conditions as those of simulation. The surface roughness, the straightness and the profile of worm are measured precisely using the worm shafts obtained from experiment. The results of simulation and experiment in this study show that the form rolling process of worn shaft using the rack dies is decidedly superior to that using roll dies from the aspect of the precision of worm such as the surface roughness, the straightness and the profile of worm.

랙크식 물류창고 조기 화재감지를 위한 최적 화재감지기 설치방법에 관한 실험연구 (An Experimental Study on the Optimum Installation of Fire Detector for Early Stage Fire Detecting in Rack-Type Warehouses)

  • This paper is an experimental study to find an optimal detection method for detecting fire early in a rack-type warehouse stored with goods. In this study, we constructed rack-type structure with the fourth floor of 13.5 m high and conducted fire experiments which were to measure flow of heat/smoke in rack-type structure and response time of fire detectors. The detectors used at experiments were fixed temperature type detectors, rate of rise detectors, photoelectric smoke detectors, air sampling smoke detectors and flame detectors. The used ignition sources are n-heptane fire for response of heat detection and cotton fire for response of smoke detection. The fixed temperature type detectors, rate of rise detectors and photoelectric detectors were installed to every rack level respectively. The results show that the rate of rise detector should be installed every 2 levels and photoelectric smoke detector should be installed every 4 levels for the early stage fire detection. Air sampling smoke detectors can detect fire early in response to control of sensitivity, but there is a problem in false alarm. The fixed temperature detector is not suitable for early stage fire detection in warehouse and flame detector not worked if flame is not visible, so it need to install combination with other detector.

Strength upgrading of steel storage rack frames in the down-aisle direction

  • This paper focuses on the seismic performance of pallet-type steel storage rack structures in their down aisle direction. As evidenced by experimental research, the seismic response of storage racks in the down-aisle direction is strongly affected by the nonlinear moment-rotation response of the beam-to-column connections. In their down-aisle direction, rack structures are designed to resist lateral seismic loads with typical moment frames utilizing proprietary beam-to-column moment-resisting connections. These connections are mostly boltless hooked type connections and they exhibit significantly large rotations resulting in large lateral frame displacements when subjected to strong ground motions. In this paper, typical hooked boltless beam-to-column connections are studied experimentally to obtain their non-linear reversed cyclic moment-rotation response. Additionally, a compound type connection involving the standard hooks and additional bolts were also tested under similar conditions. The simple introduction of the additional bolts within the hooked connection is considered to be a practical way of structural upgrade in the connection. The experimentally evaluated characteristics of the connections are compared in terms of some important performance indicators such as maximum moment and rotation capacity, change in stiffness and accumulated energy levels within the cyclic loading protocol. Finally, the obtained characteristics were used to carry out seismic performance assessment of rack frames incorporating the tested beam-to-column connections. The assessment involves a displacement based approach that utilizes a simple analytical model that captures the seismic behavior of racks in their down-aisle direction. The results of the study indicate that the proposed method of upgrading appears to be a very practical and effective way of increasing the seismic performance of hooked connections and hence the rack frames in their down-aisle direction.
