In this study, flexible poly(ethylene-ter-1-hexene-ter-divinylbenzene) was prepared using four types of metallocene catalysts (rac-Et(Ind)2ZrCl2, rac-SiMe2(Ind)2ZrCl2, rac-SiMe2(2-Me-Ind)2ZrCl2, (C5Me5)TiCl2[O-2,6-iPr2(C6H3)]) and two types of borate catalysts (trityl tetrakisborate and dimethylanilinium tetrakisborate). The yield, catalytic activity, molecular weight, structure, composition, and thermal properties of the terpolymers prepared using the various catalysts and cocatalyst systems were evaluated. Epoxidation of the terpolymers was successfully performed and this transformation was studied by 1H NMR and FTIR.
Using tunneling nanotubes (TNTs), various pathological molecules and viruses disseminate to adjacent cells intercellularly. Here, we show that the intracellular invasion of Mycoplasma hyorhinis induces the formation of actin- and tubulin-based TNTs in various mammalian cell lines. M. hyorhinis was found in TNTs generated by M. hyorhinis infection in NIH3T3 cells. Because mycoplasma-free recipient cells received mycoplasmas from M. hyorhinis-infected donor cells in a mixed co-culture system and not a spatially separated co-culture system, direct cell-to-cell contact via TNTs was necessary for the intracellular dissemination of M. hyorhinis. The activity of Rac1, which is a small GTP binding protein, was increased by the intracellular invasion of M. hyorhinis, and its pharmacological and genetic inhibition prevented M. hyorhinis infection-induced TNT generation in NIH3T3 cells. The pharmacological and genetic inhibition of Rac1 also reduced the cell-to-cell dissemination of M. hyorhinis. Based on these data, we conclude that intracellular invasion of M. hyorhinis induces the formation of TNTs, which are used for the cell-to-cell dissemination of M. hyorhinis.

In recent times, the lack of good quality natural aggregate has led to the alternative use of recycled aggregate. However, the adhered mortars in recycled aggregate lower the performance of the concrete, such as by reducing its strength and causing deterioration and cracking. In this study, the effects of nylon fiber (NF) on the mechanical and durable performance of recycled coarse aggregate concrete (RAC) were experimentally examined. Concrete specimens with natural coarse aggregate (NA) or RA were produced by adding 0, 0.6 and $1.2kg/m^3$ of NF. Various mechanical properties and the durability of the RAC were measured and compared with those of the NAC. In addition, in order to observe the hydrates and ITZ, SEM observations were made of the 28-day concrete samples. From the test results, as expected, it was found that the RAC exhibited lower performance than the NAC. However, the addition of NF to the concrete was effective in significantly enhancing the performance of the RAC due to the bridge effect of the NF.
Bone resorption by multinucleated osteoclasts is a multistep process involving adhesion to the bone matrix, migration to resorption sites, and formation of sealing zones and ruffled borders. Macrophage colony-stimulating factor (M-CSF) and osteopontin (OPN) have been shown to be involved in the bone resorption process by respective activation of integrin ${\alpha}v{\beta}3$ via "inside-out" and "outside-in" signaling. In this study, we investigated the link between signal modulators known to M-CSF- and OPN-induced osteoclast adhesion and spreading. M-CSF- and OPN-induced osteoclast adhesion was achieved via activation of stepwise signals, including integrin ${\alpha}v{\beta}3$, $PLC{\gamma}$, $PKC{\delta}$, and Rac1. Osteoclast spreading induced by M-CSF and OPN was shown to be controlled via sequential activation, consistent with the osteoclast adhesion processes. In contrast to osteoclast adhesion, osteoclast spreading induced by M-CSF and OPN was blocked via activation of $PLC{\gamma}/PKC{\alpha}/RhoA$ signaling. The combined results indicate that osteoclast adhesion and spreading are selectively regulated via $PLC{\gamma}/PKC{\alpha}-PKC{\delta}/RhoA-Rac1$ signaling.

This paper addresses mechanical properties and length change performance of the recycled aggregate concretes(RAC) in which natural coarse was replaced by recycled coarse aggregate(RCA) by compressive strength levels(20, 35, 50 MPa). A total of 9 RAC were produced and classified into three series, each of which included three mixes designed with three compressive strength levels of 20 MPa, 35 MPa and 50 MPa and three RCA replacement ratios of 0, 50 and 100%. Physical/Mechanical properties of RAC were tested for slump test, compressive strength, and length change. The test results indicated that the workability of RC could be improved or same by RCA replacement ratios, when compared with that containing no RCA. This is probably because of the RCA shape improving the workability of RAC. Also, the test results showed that the compressive strength was decreased by 9~10% as the RCA replacement ratios increase. However, the length change ratio by the RCA replacement ratios increased regardless of compressive strength levels. At 20 MPa level, the length change ratio was 8~40% which was much higher than that of 4~17% at both 35 and 50 MPa levels. Therefore, it was considered that such admixture addition preventing dry shrinkage is required in order to improve the properties of the RAC at 20 MPa level.
The electron transfer reactions between cis-[Co(en)2(NO2)2]+ and rac-[Co(Y)]2-(Y=EDTA, PDTA, CyDTA) have been investigated in the presence of hydrogen ion. From the kinetic data, it has been found that electron transfer reactions between cis-[Co(en)2(NO2)2]+ and rac-[Co(Y)]2- proceed via inner-sphere pathway by catalysis of hydogen ion. The stereoselectivity in the electron transfer reactions between optically active △-cis-[Co(en)2(NO2)2]+ and rac-[Co(Y)]2- produced 6.0, 2.9, 3.0% e.e.(e.e.=enantiomeric excess) of △-[Co(EDTA)]-, △-[Co(PDTA)]- and △-[Co(CyDTA)]-, respectively. Based upon this observation, it seems that △-cis-[Co(en)2(NO2)2]+ is associated with rac-[Co(Y)]2- at first, and followed by the electron transfer reaction. Therefore, it was suggested that stereoselective electron transfer reaction between △-cis-[Co(en)2(NO2)2]+ and rac-[Co(Y)]2- proceed through both inner-sphere by the proton catalysis and outer-sphere with ionic association.
To make up for the performance weaknesses of recycled aggregate concrete (RAC), expand the application range of RAC, and alleviate the environmental problems caused by excessive exploitation of natural coarse aggregates (NCA), this study proposes a basalt fiber-reinforced recycled aggregate concrete (BFRRAC)-filled square steel tubular columns that combines two modification methods of steel tube and fiber, which may greatly enhance the mechanical properties of RAC. The axial compression performance for BFRRAC-filled square steel tubular columns was reported during this study. Seven specimens with different replacement ratios of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA), length-diameter ratios, along with basalt fiber (BF) contents were designed as well as fabricated for performing axial compression test. For each specimen, the whole failure process as well as mode of specimen were discovered, subsequently the load-axial displacement curve has obtained, after which the mechanical properties was explained. A finite element analysis model for specimens under axial compression was then established. Subsequently, based on this model, the factors affecting axial compression performance for BFRRAC-filled square steel tubes were extended and analyzed, after which the corresponding design suggestion was proposed. The results show that in the columns with length-diameter ratios of 5 and 8, bulging failure was presented, and the RAC was severely crushed at the bulging area of the specimen. The replacement ratio of RCA as well as BF content little affected specimen's peak load (less than 5%). As the content of BF enhanced from 0 kg/m3 to 4 kg/m3, the dissipation factor and ductility coefficients increased by 10.2% and 5.6%, respectively, with a wide range.
Generally, the chassis of an indoor RAC is composed of a rear-guider and a stabilizer. The aerodynamic performance of a cross-flow fan is strongly influenced by the various design factors of the chassis of an indoor RAC. The purpose of this paper is to select the optimum design factors through the aerodynamic performance of a cross-flow fan. The design factors are the leading angle of a rear-guider (${\theta}_1$), a stabilizer setup angle(${\theta}_2$), a rear-guider clearance(${\epsilon}_1$), and a stabilizer clearance(${\epsilon}_2$), respectively. As a result, the optimum design factors of an indoor RAC can be presented as a combination of ${\theta}_1=33^{\circ}$, ${\theta}_2=55^{\circ}$, ${\epsilon}_1=6{\sim}8mm$, and ${\epsilon}_2=7mm$ through the analysis of a static pressure coefficient and a static pressure efficiency.
Xanthorrhizol is a bisabolane type of natural sesquiterpene, the major component of essential oils of Curcuma xanthorrhiza. 2-(3-Methoxy-4-methylphenyl)propan-1-ol and 2-(3-hydroxy-4-methyl phenyl)propan-1-ol could be essential building block for enantioselective synthesis of xanthorrhizol. Enantioselective (c = 53%, E = $80{\pm}3$) for R-(+)-2-(3-hydroxy-4-methylphenyl) propan-1-ol and (c = 58%, E = $27{\pm}1$) for R-(+)-2-(3-methoxy-4-methylphenyl) propan-1-ol resolution processes were developed via lipase-catalyzed reaction. We found lipase Aspergillus oryzae (AOL) and Porcine pancreas (PPL) are selective to transesterification and hydrolysis in organic and aqueous phase. Modified demethylated substrate is appropriate for enantioselective hydrolysis reaction without any additives. Enantiopure chiral alcohol was crystallized from ethyl acetate/n-hexane co-solvent system. Gram scale resolved chiral intermediate will facilitate the synthesis of the unnatural S-(+)-xanthorrhizol, the corresponding isomer of the natural one.
