PLC and Arduino Interaction Based on Modbus Protocol

  • This Paper introduces the design and communication method between PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and Arduino based on MODBUS Protocol. MODBUS connection can be established in a new or existing system very easily, therefore we used this protocol in our proposed system. In the field of automatic devices, multi-function serial port such as RS232, RS422, RS485, and so on creates a great convenience to the developer. This proposed system used RS485 as a key mediator for data exchanging on a connected network. We also believe that it will reduce the development cost in various automated industry because this system can be reused or can be implemented any such PLC installed machines. RS485 is used as a communication interface between PLC (as a slave) and Arduino (as a master), through which a reliable network is created for safe and fast communication. Furthermore, RS485 allows multiple devices(up to 32) to communicate at half duplex on a single pair of wires and provides a long connectivity area (up to 1200 meters) as compare to other device, which makes it a user-friendly for various devices in the automated industry. Moreover, Arduino can play as a mediator by connecting third party device and setup a communication network with PLC.

  • 본 연구에서는 수직순환식 기계식입체주차설비용 주 구동전도기인 유도전동기를 제어할 수 있는 인버터와 컨버터를 일체화한 165kVA급 인버터장치와 통합 시퀀스제어 및 보조 장치용 전도기 제어를 위한 목적으로 PLC형 제어반을 구성하였고 사용자와의 MMI개선을 위한 목적으로 Pro-Face 터치스크린을 적용한 운전반을 구성하였다 주 구동장치의 제어를 위한 인버터반은 인버터부와 컨버터부 및 입출력부로 구성하였으며 인버터반 내의 제어장치는 병렬통신처리를 하였고 인버터반과 PLC형 제어반 사이는 RS-232C방식 통신체계를 갖추도록 하였다 터치스크린형 운전반과 PLC형 제어반은 RS-422 통신기능을 갖는 C-Net 카드를 적용 하였으며 실험은 55kW급 유도전동기를 대상으로 하였다.

DEVELOPMENT OF A TELESCOPE CONTROL SYSTEM, MS-TCS (중소형 망원경 제어 시스템 MS-TCS 개발)

  • In this paper we describe MS-TCS, the telescope control system which was developed in Korea Astronomy Observatory. MS-TCS can control an equatorial type telescope equipped with stepping motors and incremental type optical encoders. MS-TCS consists of (1) POINT_TEL which is the program roning in a PC and (2) TCS-196 which is the electroics board to control the telescope. The communication between the PC and TCS-l96 is done through RS-232 or RS-422 serial line. MS-TCS can control the secondary mirror and dome. It also provide network function using TCP/IP for remote control of the telescope. MS-TCS is suitable for controlling medium to small size telescope for research and education.

  • 선박의 안전한 운전을 위하여 선박 내/외에 다양한 계측장비를 추가하여 선박의 안전한 운항을 돕고 있다. 이러한 계측장비들과의 통신은 일반적인 RS-422,485 통신을 기반으로 NMEA0183과 고속의 통신 속도를 지원하는 CAN 통신 기반의 NMEA2000 프로토콜을 표준으로 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 NMEA0183 프로토콜을 지원하도록 하고 NMEA0183 프로토콜 기반의 특정 선박용 통신 데이터를 사용자가 선택적으로 모니터링하고 체크할 수 있는 지능형 단말기를 설계하였다. 이러한 간단한 펌웨어 기반의 다기능 인디케이트(indicator)는 선박 내에서 사용할 수 있는 간편한 이동용 통신 프로토콜 체크기와 다양한 데이터를 선택적으로 모니터링 할 수 있는 다기능 인디케이트를 개발하여 실용 가능성을 제시하고 한다.

  • It is always necessary to high performance power supplies for the magnet system in the accelerator, especially when the number of power supplies are large. When have developed the compact power supply using switching technology instead of SCR phase control. We adopt the pulse width modulation(PWM) method with a half bridge DC/DC converter. In this way, we can make a compact system with light weight and small volume. Actual system we developed is 1.2kW, 35V/35A bipolar DC power supply current precision of +/-0.02%. It is possible to mount 10 unit in a conventional 19 rack. The built in controller has an RS422 protocol to drive 10 unit by one serial port up to 1.2km distance. If we adopt RS485 protocol, one serial port can control 32 power supplies. In this paper, we will report the design and performance of the prototype power supply.

  • 최근 선박 및 물류 자동화는 물류 증대와 함께 선박의 운용을 더욱 복잡하게 만들고 있으며, 선박 내부의 통신 장비 및 통신 시스템의 구성 또한 매우 복잡하게 구성되어 있다. 때문에 지금 현재의 통신장비의 내부 통신 프로토콜은 일반적인 RS-422,485 기반의 NMEA-0183과 CAN 통신 기반의 NMEA-2000 기반으로 해상전자장비의 인터페이스 표준으로 법제화 되어있다. 본 논문에서는 가장 일반적인 NMEA-0183 프로토콜을 7-체널의 NMEA-0183 시리얼 통신 데이터를 지원하도록 설계하였으며, 그 외에 SPI 방식의 3-체널 16비트 ADC(Analog Digital Converter)와 SPI 방식의 2-체널 펄스(pulse) 입력을 받을 수 있도록 설계하였다. 특히, 선박용 통신장비의 중요한 7가지로 한정하여 설계하였다. 본 연구의 소형화를 통하여 이동이 가능하도록 하여 그 편리성을 제공하고, 소형 PC 기반의 중앙 모니터링 시스템을 구현하여 다체널 인디케이트 시스템의 효율성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 우주발사체 검사장비는 umbilical 신호를 기준으로 발사체 내부 analog input/output, discrete input/output, 외부 전원 공급 각 제어기의 RS-422 인터페이스 구현 및 제어를 통해 우주 발사체의 기능을 통합 검사하는 것을 주 목적으로 하며 우주 발사체에 탑재되는 전기/전자시스템의 개발시험 이후 시스템 레벨에서의 통합 기능시험을 수행하는 시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 우주발사체에 적용될 검사장비의 설계 및 적용 방안에 대해 기술할 것이다.

  • This paper presents the automatic monitoring system for the small and medium sized manufacturing system. The monitoring system was composed of main controller, network card and monitoring sub controller for the unit machine. PC was used for the main controller and monitoring controller, which has the same hardware with the network card, was developed using Intel 80196 microprocessor.

  • Recently, tracking radar requires the development of millimeter wave tracking radar to acquire target information with high resolution in various environments. The development of millimeter wave tracking radar requires the development of transmission and receiving components that can be applied to the millimeter wave tracking radar, as well as verification of the applicability of the tracking radar. In order to verify the applicability of the developed transmitting and receiving components, it is necessary to develop a signal acquisition device that can control the transmitting and receiving components using the operating concept of a tracking radar and check the status of the received signal. In this paper, we implemented a signal acquisition device that can confirm the applicability of components developed for millimeter wave tracking radar. The signal acquisition device was designed to process in real time the OOOMHz center frequency and OOMHz bandwidth signals input from 4 channels to verify the received signal. In addition, component control applying the tracking radar operation concept was designed to be controlled by communication such as RS422, RS232, and SPI and generation of control signals for the transmission and receiving time. Lastly, the implemented signal acquisition device was verified through a signal acquisition device performance test.

  • FTSR(Flight Termination System Receiver) is a device that receives a ground command signal to abort a flight mission when abnormal conditions occur in the space launch vehicle. The secure tone command message shall consist of a series of 11 character tone pattern. Each character consists of the sum of two tones which taken from a set of 7 tones defined by IRIG(Inter-Range Instrumentation Group) in the audio frequency range. The MHA(Modified High alphabet) command adds a security feature to the secure tone command by using the predefined difference code. In order to check the function and performance of MHA FTSR, which is under development, for KSLV-II, the testbed should have functions of RF signal generation, receiver's output port monitoring, RS-422 communication and test data management. In this paper, we first briefly introduce MHA command and FTSR interface, and then show the LavVIEW based testbed include its H/W configuration, S/W implementation and test results.
