  • Objectives: To investigate the current prevalence and knowledge of cervical cancer, breast cancer and reproductive tract infections (RTIs) in rural Chinese women, and to explore the acceptance and feasibility of implementing a combined screening program in rural China. Methods: A population-based, cross-sectional study was conducted among women aged 30 to 59 years old in Xiangyuan County, Shanxi Province from 2009 to 2010. Socio-demographic characteristics, knowledge of cervical cancer, breast cancer and RTIs, and the attitude toward single or combined screening were collected by an interview questionnaire. Each participant received a clinical examination of the cervix, breast and reproductive tract. Examinations included visual inspection, mammography, laboratory tests and pathological diagnosis. Results: A total of 1,530 women were enrolled in this study. The prevalence of cervical precancerous lesions, suspicious breast cancer, suspicious benign breast disease and RTIs was 1.4%, 0.2%, 14.0% and 54.3%, respectively. Cervicitis, trichomonas vaginitis, and bacterial vaginitis were the three most common RTIs among our participants. Television, radio broadcast, and public education during screening were the major source of healthcare knowledge in rural China. Moreover 99.7% of women expressed great interest in participating in a combined screening project. The affordable limit for combined screening project was only 50 RMB for more than half of the rural women. Conclusion: A combined screening program would be more effective and popular than single disease screening projects, while appropriate accompanied education and a co-pay model for its successful implementation need to be explored, especially in low-resource settings.

  • In order to overcome disadvantages of existing centralized network management systems that use simple objects, dynamic object platforms are proposed as alternative systems. So the distributed network management systems are implemented using various distributed platform such as CORBA and Java-RMI. Subsequently mobile agent-based platforms are proposed. The mobile agent-based platform can additionally provide flexibility and scalability to network management system that CORBA or Java-RMI based platforms do not support. In this paper, we address an architecture to solve the problem of the occurrence of additional traffic by using mobile agent and to save resources of network element. Our proposal in this paper is an efficient network management architecture using motile agents. And we make use of mobile agents for minimizing of traffic that can happen when mobile agents moves. Also we design agents using information architecture of TMN for efficient resource management of network element and improvement of operation performance.

  • Early diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) can reduce the incidence of dementia. This study developed the MCI prediction model for the elderly in Korea. The subjects of this study were 3,240 elderly (1,502 men, 1,738 women) aged 65 and over who participated in the Korean Longitudinal Survey of Aging (KLoSA) in 2012. Outcome variables were defined as MCI prevalence. Explanatory variables were age, marital status, education level, income level, smoking, drinking, regular exercise more than once a week, average participation time of social activities, subjective health, hypertension, diabetes Respectively. The prediction model was developed using Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) neural network. As a result, age, sex, final education, subjective health, marital status, income level, smoking, drinking, regular exercise were significant predictors of MCI prediction model of rural elderly people in Korea using RBM neural network. Based on these results, it is required to develop a customized dementia prevention program considering the characteristics of high risk group of MCI.

  • This study was conducted to find out the effects of agro-healing activities and strolling on the physiological conditions of patients with chronic metabolic diseases. A total of 11 subjects participated in agro-healing activities, and their average age was 49.6±11.3. Changes in their salivary cortisol were compared and analyzed before and after participating in the agro-healing activity program, and it was found that the stress hormone decreased after participating in the program. Differences in brain wave between before and after participating in agro-healing activities and strolling were measured, and the ratio of alpha to high beta (RAHB) of subjects increased in most of the measured points after participating in agro-healing activities. In addition, the increase in the value in the temporal lobe (T3) that controls mortor skills and occipital lobe (O2) that controls visual functions indicates that the activities were effective in improving relaxation and stability. The relative low beta (RLB) power spectrum of subjects also statistically significantly decreased in the right occipital lobe (O2) that controls visual functions, the relative mid beta (RMB) and relative high beta (RHB) power spectrum decreased in the left temporal lobe (T3) and the right occipital lobe (O2). These results indicate that the activities were effective in improving relaxation under no stress and tension. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure of subjects after participating in agro-healing activities decreased from the prehypertension level to the normal level. These results indicate that horticultural activities and visual elements in healing farms, such as agro-healing activities and strolling, have positive impacts on patients with chronic metabolic diseases accompanied with diabetes or high blood pressure by increasing the brain activity and psycho-physiological conditions of participants.

  • This study investigates the color stimuli of two varieties of foliage plants by extracting electroencephalogram, electrocardiogram and physiology activity data from 30 participants in their 50s or older. Changes in the physiological activity of subjects against six color stimuli were examined. The stimulus to real green plants 'Silver Queen' was set as the control group, and was compared with other groups including the stimulus to real 'Angel' plants and four stimuli to artificial colors (two color images and color schemes of the same green and red plants). Compared to the five groups, the relative theta power spectrum (RT) and the ratio of alpha to high beta (RAHB) increased in the subjects exposed to real green plants. This result demonstrates that the green plant ('Silver Queen') increases the stability, relaxation, and internal concentration of subjects in a proper state of awakening. The result of this experiment showed a statistically significant difference in the level of RT when subjects were exposed to the groups of real green and red plants. This finding indicates that the green plant increases internal concentration more than the red plant. RT and the relative low beta power spectrum (RLB) in the groups of natural colors were higher than the groups of artificial colors when subjects focused their mind on the two types of real plants. However, the level of relative mid beta power spectrum (RMB), ratio of SMR to theta (RST), ratio of mid beta to theta (RMT), relative high beta power spectrum (RHB), and spectral edge frequency 95% were higher when subjects were exposed to the photos and colors scheme of plants than when they were exposed to real plants. The subjects experienced more "comfortable" emotions when they were looking at plants with green colors. Overall, it is recommended to use the natural colors of real plants in places where which stability and relaxation are required. On the contrary, the artificial colors of plants such as their photos and color schemes are useful in places where a high level of concentration is required in a short period of time.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze and compare survival rates of resorbable blast media(RBM) surface and acid-etched surface implants being usually used in clinics. RBM surface implants (USII, Osstem, Busan, Korea) or acid-etched surface implants ($Osseotite^{(R)}$, Biomet $3i^{[TM]}$, FL, USA) were placed in edentulous area of 140 patients between January of 2005 and March of 2007. The number of implants was 304, and 152 out of them were RBM surface implants while another 152 were acid-etched surface implants. According to the evaluation items, the survey was performed before and after the implants installations. The 3-year survival rates of both kind of implants were calculated. 1. Total of 152 RBM surface implants were placed. Among them, one implant was failed, which was implanted in the posterior mandible with D2 bone quality. The failure was resulted from fracture of the fixture. Others showed good results and survival rate of RBM surface implant was 99.34%. 2. Total of 152 acid-etched surface implants were placed. Seven implants of them were failed, thus, survival rate was 95.39%. The causes of the failures were considered as infection, overheat and the lack of initial stability. In this research, both implants showed good 3-year survival rate, although RMB surface implant represented a better result.

  • Background: College students are recommended as the target groups for catch-up human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination. Systematical exploration of awareness, acceptability, and decision-making factors of HPV vaccination among Chinese college students has been limited. Materials and Methods: A multi-center survey was conducted in mainland China between November 2011 and May 2012. College students aged 18-22 years were stratified by their grade, gender, and major for sampling. Socio-demographic and HPV-related information such as knowledge, perceptions, acceptability, and attitudes were collected through a questionnaire. Results: A total of 3,497 undergraduates completed the questionnaire, among which 1,686 were males. The acceptability of the HPV vaccine was high (70.8%). Undergraduates from high-level universities, at lower grade, or with greater prior knowledge of HPV vaccines showed higher acceptability of HPV vaccination ($p_{trend}$ <0.001). Additionally, undergraduates with vaccination experience outside the National Expanded Program on Immunization (OR=1.29; 95%CI: 1.10-1.51) or fear of HPV-related diseases (OR=2.79; 95%CI: 2.28-3.41) were more willing to accept HPV vaccination. General knowledge of HPV vaccine was low among undergraduates, and safety was a major concern (71.05%). The majority of students wished to pay less than 300RMB for HPV vaccine and chose the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention as the most appropriate venue for vaccination. Conclusions: Although most undergraduates demonstrate positive attitudes towards HPV vaccination, challenges pertaining to introduction exist in China. Corresponding proactive education and governmental subsidy to do so are urgently needed by this age-group population. Suggestions and potential strategies indicated may help shape the future HPV vaccination program in China.
