  • This experiment was carried out to study the effect of pure nitrogen fertilization on botanical composition of grassland in 1987~ 1988 under practical conditions at the " Federal Institute for Agriculture in the Alps" in Austria. The application rates were 0, 30, 60, 90 and 120kg/ha/cut, the cutting regimes 3-, 4 , 5- and 6-cuts/year. The results were as follows: 1. Only PK fertilization resulted in higher botanical composition of Trifolium repens among legumes in grassland, which was increased by cutting frequency .2. Nitrogen fertilization on three-cut areas resulted in higher existence of generally valuable tall grasses such as Arrhenotherum elatius Trisetum flavescens and Dactylis glomerata . On the other hand, nitrogen fertilization on four-, five- and six-cut areas showed mainly Doctylis glomerato and Poa pratensis appearance. 3.For some cases, appearance of less valuable grasses, herbs and weeds such as Agropyron repens, Poa trivialis, Poa annua, Setoria viridis, Aegopodium podagra rio, Men landrium rubrum, Taraxacum officlnale, Achillea millefolium, Rorippa sylvestris and Polygonum ocleulare was *Bundesanstalt fur alpenlandische Landwirtschaft Gumpenstein(A-8952 Irdning, 6sterreich) increased on medium and high rates of N fertilized areas. 4.Reduction of sward density may also diminish the advantages of nitrogen fertilization and may be threatened by mainly high dressings of nitrogen combined with too late utilization of the sward. 5.Location altered the efficiency of nitrogen fertilization on botanical composition.mposition.

  • This article aimed at thermally treating and charactering the Eucalyptus grandis wood under three different temperatures. For this, pristine eucalypt samples were treated by heating in a laboratory oven at 160 ℃, 200 ℃ and 240 ℃, always for 2 h. Treatment parameters (based on weight percentage loss and specific gravity), as well as mechanical (by hardness tests), chemical (by infrared spectroscopy), thermal (by thermogravimetry), and colorimetric (by CIELab method) features were evaluated. Compared to the pristine ones, the treated woods have there was a drop in apparent density at 12 % and consecutively greater thermal stability which is probably related to a previous partial degradation of some major amorphous components (namely cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin), as suggested by the treatment parameters and infrared spectra. Besides of that, the higher the temperature treatment, the higher the loss in surface hardness and the higher the colour darkening.

  • The exploration of seaweed diversity in poorly studied habitats has often led to the discovery of new species. Sand-covered rocks are an example, as they received less attention than sand-free rocky intertidal habitats during seaweed diversity surveys in Brazil. In sand-covered rocks from Espirito Santo and Rio de Janeiro we found an alga whose morphology was unique among rhodomelacean species previously reported in Brazil. With the aim to clarify the taxonomic identity of this species we studied its morphology, as well as its phylogenetic relationships. Molecular analyses resolved this species in the genus Alsidium (tribe Alsidieae) and differed from sequenced congeners with divergences ${\geq}2.5$ and 4.2% in the rbcL and cox1 genes, respectively. Morphological characters were in agreement with the genus Alsidium, and differed from other species currently recognized in the genus. The species consisted of a basal crust and scarcely branched erect axes with seven pericentral cells covered by a continuous layer of cortical cells. Reproductive structures were formed on clusters of short determinate branches. Therefore, the new species A. oliveiranum is proposed based on morphological and molecular evidence. Our findings contribute to better understand the diversity of the tribe Alsidieae, which is particularly diverse in the Americas.

  • The available methods for veneer evaluation are limited to clinical and radiographic examinations, which may not allow the appropriate identification of failure. In this report, we demonstrate the use of optical coherence tomography (OCT) as a noninvasive diagnostic and follow-up method to evaluate gingival recovery and the adhesive interface in aesthetic oral rehabilitation involving periodontal plastic surgery and ceramic laminate veneers. OCT was efficient for evaluating both soft and hard tissues, as well as the quality of the adhesive interface. In conclusion, OCT was found to be a promising approach for the professional evaluation of aesthetic oral rehabilitation, as it was capable of generating images that enabled the analysis of gingival recovery and the adhesive interface.

  • The present paper illustrates a numerical investigation on the failure behaviour of ring-stiffened cylinder subjected to external hydrostatic pressure. The published test data of steel welded ring-stiffened cylinder are surveyed and collected. Eight test models are chosen for the verification of the modelling and FE analyses procedures. The imperfection as the consequences of the fabrication processes, such as initial geometric deformation and residual stresses due to welding and cold forming, which reduced the ultimate strength, are simulated. The results show that the collapse pressure and failure mode predicted by the nonlinear FE analyses agree acceptably with the experimental results. In addition, the failure mode parameter obtained from the characteristic pressure such as interframe buckling pressure known as local buckling pressure, overall buckling pressure, and yield pressure are also examined through the collected data and shows a good correlation. A parametric study is then conducted to confirm the failure progression as the basic parameters such as the shell radius, thickness, overall length of the compartment, and stiffener spacing are varied.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare Islamic commercial banks and Islamic banking units with the stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) method during 2014-2018. The data in research using Islamic commercial banks and Islamic banking units. There are 10 Islamic commercial banks and 5 Islamic banking units that meet the criteria of purposive sampling. The calculation of efficiency level using the SFA method with the function of production shows that Islamic commercial banks and Islamic banking units always experience an increase in efficiency every year with the average level of efficiency of Islamic commercial banks being 0.43994, while the average rate of efficiency of Islamic banking units is slightly higher at 0.47654. This shows that Islamic banking units are slightly more optimal in generating total financing in the period 2010-2014. The test results using Independent Sample T-Test can be concluded that there is no difference in the efficiency value between Islamic commercial banks and Islamic banking units. Operating costs are not significant and have a positive effect on the total financing; total assets have a significant effect and a positive impact on total financing; labor costs are not significant and have a negative effect on total financing.

  • The evaluation of the corrosion resistance of titanium with a TiO2 nanotubes top layer was carried out (TiO2 NT). These nanostructures were evolved into anatase nanoparticles without heat treatment in an aqueous medium, which is a novel phenomenon. This work analyzes the layer between the nanotube bottom and the substrate, which is thin and still susceptible to corrosion. The bottom of TiO2 nanotubes having Fluor resulting from the synthesis process changed between amorphous to crystalline anatase with a crystallite size of about 4 nm, which influenced the corrosion rates. Four kinds of samples were evaluated. A) NT by Ti anodizing; B) NTSB for Ti plates, either modifying its surface or anodizing the modified surface; C) NT-480 for anodized Ti and heat-treated (480℃) for reaching the anatase phase; D) NTSB-480 for Ti plates, first, modifying its surface using sandblast, after that, anodizing the modified surface, and finally, heat-treated to 480℃ to compare with samples having induced crystallization and passivation. Four electrochemical techniques were used to evaluate the corrosion rates. The surfaces having TiO2 nanotubes with a sandblast pre-treatment had the highest resistance to corrosion.

  • Purpose: As moment-based marketing messages (i.e., messages related to current moments or event), companies put significant investments to distribute TV advertising related to external moments in a retail environment. While the literature offers strong support for the value of distributions of context-based messaging to advertisers, less attention has been given to how to design those messages to effectively communicate across channels. This research adds a new dimension of analysis to the study of advertising context and its cross-channel effects on online consumer behavior. Research Design, Data and Methodology: A system-of-equations Tobit regression model was adopted using data collected from an advertising agency that consists of 1,223 TV ads aired during the Rio Olympics and NCAA, tagging from consumers, and a text analysis. Results: First, TV ads with high centrality of context lead to lower online search behavior and higher online social actions. Second, how brands can design messages more effectively was explored by using product information as a moderator that could improve the impact of context-based TV advertisements. Conclusions: Given that expenses in traditional channels are still one of the biggest channel management decisions, it is critical to understand how consumer engagement varies by design of context-based TV advertising.

  • The present report describes the endodontic treatment of an Oehlers type II dens invaginatus in a maxillary lateral incisor with 5 root canals, an extremely rare condition. Apical periodontitis and related symptoms were noted. Cone-beam computed tomography was used to aid the diagnosis, reveal tooth morphology, and assist in canal location. The pulp chamber was carefully accessed, and the root canals were explored under magnification. All root canals were prepared with an R25 Reciproc Blue system and sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) irrigation. After initial preparation, a self-adjusting file (SAF) with NaOCl and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid was used to complement the disinfection. Additionally, calcium hydroxide medication was applied. Vertical compaction was used to fill the canals with a calcium silicate-based endodontic sealer and gutta-percha. After 12 months, the patient exhibited healing of the periapical region, absence of symptoms, and normal dental function. In conclusion, this nonsurgical treatment protocol was successful in promoting the cure of apical periodontitis. Both complementary disinfection with an SAF and use of calcium hydroxide medication should be considered when choosing the best treatment approach for dens invaginatus with very complex anatomy.
