  • In this paper, we present a high-speed RFID data filtering engine designed to carry out filtering under the conditions of massive data and massive filters. We discovered that the high-speed RFID data filtering technique is very similar to the high-speed packet classification technique which is used in high-speed routers and firewall systems. Actually, our filtering engine is designed based on existing packet classification algorithms, Bit Parallelism and Aggregated Bit Vector(ABV). In addition, we also discovered that there are strong temporal relations and redundancy in the RFID data filtering operations. We incorporated two kinds of caches, tag and filter caches, to make use of this characteristic to improve the efficiency of the filtering engine. The performance of the proposed engine has been examined by implementing a prototype system and testing it. Compared to the basic sequential filter comparison approach, our engine shows much better performance, and it gets better as the number of filters increases.

  • One of the important performance issues in large-scale RFID systems is to resolve collisions among responses from RFID tags. Considering two do facto anti-collision solutions, namely the binary-tree splitting algorithm and the Slotted-Aloha algorithm, we propose to use multi-packet reception (MPR) capability to enhance the RFID tag reading rate (i.e., throughput). MPR allows an RFID reader to receive multiple reponses transmitted by tags at the same time. We analyze the effect of MPR capability in the above anti-collision algorithms, which is also validated by simulation. The analysis and simulation results show that RFID reader antenna design and signal separation techniques play an important role in improving RFID system performance with MPR capability.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) system is an automated identification system that consists of tags and readers. They communicate with each other by RF signal. As a reader can identify many tags in contactless manner using RF signal, RFID system is expected to do a new technology to substitute a bar-code system. But RFID system creates new threats to the security and privacy of individuals, Because tags and readers communicate with each other in insecure channel using RF signal. So many people are trying to study various manners to solve privacy problems against attacks, but it is difficult to apply to RFID system based on low-cost Gen2. Therefore, We will propose a new encryption scheme using matrix based on Gen2 in RFID system in paper, and We will analyze our encryption scheme in view of the security and efficiency through a simulation and investigate application environments to use our encryption scheme.

  • In RFID System, when multiple tags respond simultaneously, a collision can occur. A method that solves this collision is referred to anti-collision algorithm. Among the existing anti-collision algorithms, static framed slot allocation algorithm is very simple. But when the number of tags is variable, its performance degrades because of the fixed frame size. This paper proposes an optimal frame size allocation scheme that determines the frame size. The proposed scheme is based on the number of collision slots at every frame. According to the simulation results, the tag identification time is faster that of SFSA.

  • With the rapid progress of RFID security technologies, the international standard group ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 31 is developing a few security technologies for RFID systems. One of the initial proposals is ISO/IEC working draft (WD) 29167-6. Recently, Song and others stated that Protocol 1 of ISO/IEC WD 29167-6 is vulnerable to a malicious adversary. However, their analysis comes from a misunderstanding regarding a communication parameter called Handle. In this letter, we point out that an adversary cannot obtain any sensitive information from intervening in Protocol 1.

  • In this paper, we propose an improved anti-collision algorithm for multi tag interrogation in ubiquitous sensor network(USN) and show the result of simulation for multi tag interrogation in RFID systems. We have analyzed an EPC(Electronic Product Code) protocol which specifies the physical and logical requirements for a passive-backscatter Reader-Talk-First(RTF) RFID(Radio Frequency Identification) system operating in the $860MHz{\sim}960MHz$ frequency range. We have also designed and implemented the simulator of the RFID system based on the EPC protocol. Finally, we find that proposed algorithm works better than an existing algorithm.

  • Recently, location systems using RFID technology have been studied in indoor environments. However, the existing techniques require high computational cost to compute the location of a moving object because they compare the location proximity of all reference tags and objects. In this paper, we propose an RFID based location positioning scheme using event filtering, which reduces the computation cost of calculating the locations of moving objects while maintaining the accuracy of location estimation. In addition, we propose an incremental location update policy to reduce the location update cost for moving objects. We also compare the proposed scheme with one of the localization schemes, LANDMARC using a performance evaluation. As a result, the proposed scheme outperforms LANDMARC in terms of the computational cost of location estimation. The proposed scheme also reduces the cost of location update by using the RFID-based update policy.

  • In this paper, we analyze the effect of the data aggregation level on the MAC performance when RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) logistics data, which can be aggregated at RFID readers to reduce the transmission overhead, are transmitted in IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs. For various data aggregation levels, the throughputs and latencies of the DCF (Distributed Coordination Function) and PCF (Point Coordination Function) MAC protocols are analyzed by computer simulation. From the simulation analysis, we propose the appropriate input traffic load for real-time RFID logistics data transmitted in IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs.
