  • This paper deals with the result of an analysis on the effect of the power generation by municipal solid waste(MSW)-refuse derived fuel(RDF) and the introduction of tipping fee sharing between RDF manufacturing and power generation project. As a model case for the MSW generated at small and medium cities in our country, an analysis of the RDF power generation and Tipping fee sharing shows that 1) MSW amount of 7,800* $10^3 $t/y could produce 1,950*$10^3$t/y of RDF 2) Electric power generated by MSW-RDF could supply 290,000 households/year and 98,548 C-t/y of $CO_2$ could be reduced. 3) Tipping Fee should be shared by the considering of the contents of project of both side between RDF Production and power generation.

  • These days, home network connects all home appliances using one of broadband convergence network, is constructed and propagated to more than 10 million house hold. Users can monitor and control statuses of home appliances using mobile terminal through homeserver. For active propagation of home network, high-quality multimedia service is very important. Specially, as digital recorder and digital camera is propagated, new paradigm that private DVDs can be shared in many household shows up. The homeserver is the main part of UbiHome, which can store much multimedia content and through which the user can search and share these contents. For searching and sharing, the metadata of contents is supposed to keep the consistency. These metadata include the description to different format such as Image, movie, and music. Therefore, we intend to provide a RDF model for effectively storing, searching and managing high-quality contents in UbiHome. In this paper, we propose to make Ontology to close semantic approach using RDF/RDF Schema for managing multimedia data in UbiHome. we propose RDF-Based Local Ontology and merging these ontology to RDF-Based Global Ontology.

  • The Semantic Web stands out in the next generation web, recently. In the Semantic Web, any information resources is defined by semantics and semantic links is given among these. It is different from existing web service environment. RDF (Resource Description Framework) is the data model to describe metadata of web resource and is to support for semantic links. And it is much the same as WSDL (Web Serice Description Language). In theis paper, we propose the RDF design method to improve the search performance by integrating RDF data unit with WSDL. We confirm the performance and efficiency of search will be improved by using the proposed method.

  • RDF and OWL are the primary base technologies for implementing Semantic Web. Recently, many researches related with them, or applying them into the other application domains, have been introduced. However, relatively little work has been done for securing the RDF and OWL data. In this article, we briefly introduce an RDF triple based model for specifying RDF access authorization related with RDF security. Next, to efficiently find the authorization conflict by RDF inference, we introduce a method using prime number graph labeling in detail. The problem of authorization conflict by RDF inference is that although the lower concept is permitted to be accessed, it can be inaccessible due to the disapproval for the upper concept. Because by the RDF inference, the lower concept can be interpreted into the upper concept. Some experimental results show that the proposed method using the prime number graph labeling has better performance than the existing simple method for the detection of the authorization conflict.

  • Recent studies on change detection for RDF data are focused on not only the structural difference but also the semantic-aware difference by computing the closure of RDF models. However, since these techniques which take into account the semantics of RDF model require both RDF models to be memory resident, or they use a forward-chaining strategy which computes the entire closure in advance, it is not efficient to apply them directly to detect changes in large RDF data. In this paper, we propose a scalable change detection technique for RDF data, which uses a backward-chaining inference based on relational database. Proposed method uses a new approach for RDF reasoning that computes only the relevant part of the closure for change detection in a relational database. We show that our method clearly outperforms the previous works through experiment using the real RDF from the bioinformatics domain.

  • With the proliferation of RDF knowledge graphs(KGs), there arose a need of a standardized schema representation of the graph model for effective data interchangeability and interoperability. The need resulted in the development of SHACL specification to describe and validate RDF graph's structure by W3C. Relational databases(RDBs) are one of major sources for acquiring structured knowledge. The standard for automatic generation of RDF KGs from RDBs is R2RML, which is also developed by W3C. Since R2RML is designed to generate only RDF data graphs from RDBs, additional manual tasks are required to create the schemas for the graphs. In this paper we propose an approach to automatically generate SHACL schemas for RDF KGs populated by R2RML mappings. The key of our approach is that the SHACL shemas are built only from R2RML documents. We describe an implementation of our appraoch. Then, we show the validity of our approach with R2RML test cases designed by W3C.

  • Provenance means the meta data that represents the history or lineage of a data in collaboration storage environments. Therefore, as provenance has been accruing over time, it takes several ten times as large as the original data. The schemes for effciently compressing huge amounts of provenance are required. In this paper, we propose a provenance compression scheme considering the RDF graph patterns. The proposed scheme represents provenance based on a standard PROV model and encodes provenance in numeric data through the text encoding. We compress provenance and RDF data using the graph patterns. Unlike conventional provenance compression techniques, we compress provenance by considering RDF documents on the semantic web. In order to show the superiority of the proposed scheme, we compare it with the existing scheme in terms of compression ratio and the processing time.

  • In biological domain, there exist a variety of protein analysis databases which have their own meaning toward the same target of protein. If we integrate these scattered heterogeneous data efficiently, we can obtain useful information which otherwise cannot be found from each original source. Reflecting the characteristics of biological data, each data source has its own syntax and semantics. If we describe these data through RDF(S) models, one of the Semantic Web standards, we can achieve not only syntactic but also semantic integration. In this paper, we propose a new concept of integration layer based on the RDF unified schema. As a conceptual model, we construct a unified schema focusing on the protein information; as a representational model, we propose a technique for the wrappers to aggregate necessary information from the relevant sources and dynamically generate RDF instances. Two example queries show that our integration layer succeeds in processing the integrated requests from users and displaying the appropriate results.

  • The Semantic Web is proposed as the next generation Web technology. In the environment of the Semantic Web, resources are related with each other semantically and computers can process this information easily. The Resource Description Framework (RDF) supports this semantic relationship. RDF is the data model for describing metadata of the Web resources. To establish and develop the Semantic Web, methods for managing RDF data efficiently are the most important. So, in this research, we propose methods for storing and querying RDF data using an XML database system. Using an XML database system, XML data, main data of the Semantic Web, and RDF data, the metadata of XML data, can be managed in the same storage and by the same mechanism efficiently. In addition, we propose an efficient data retrieval method and several techniques to improve the system performance. Our query processing technique performs better than an existing system.
