Design of ILS M&S for RAM Analysis in Guided Weapon System (유도무기체계 RAM분석을 위한 ILS M&S 설계)

  • M&S techniques are utilized for various purposes on the national defense, and its importance is increasing than ever. For analyzing RAM (Reliability, Availability and Maintainability) of weapon system, using M&S techniques can be more effective and practical way than deterministic approach, because M&S approach can consider uncertain variables and various constraints in the ILS (Integrated Logistics support) field. For design of ILS M&S, we first set up a purpose of M&S, attributes of real system and other similar ILS M&S tool. Then, we convert real system into model which consists of mathematical formula and logical expression. In this thesis, we introduce modeling procedures of M&S that describes total life cycle of 'OO guided weapon system' and the contents proposed in this paper can provide references for developing other M&S tool.

Cold Boot Attack on Encrypted Containers for Forensic Investigations

  • Digital Forensics is gaining popularity in adjudication of criminal cases as use of electronic gadgets in committing crime has risen. Traditional approach to collecting digital evidence falls short when the disk is encrypted. Encryption keys are often stored in RAM when computer is running. An approach to acquire forensic data from RAM when the computer is shut down is proposed. The approach requires that the investigator immediately cools the RAM and transplant it into a host computer provisioned with a tool developed based on cold boot concept to acquire the RAM image. Observation of data obtained from the acquired image compared to the data loaded into memory shows the RAM chips exhibit some level of remanence which allows their content to persist after shutdown which is contrary to accepted knowledge that RAM loses its content immediately there is power cut. Results from experimental setups conducted with three different RAM chips labeled System A, B and C showed at a reduced temperature of -25C, the content suffered decay of 2.125% in 240 seconds, 0.975% in 120 seconds and 1.225% in 300 seconds respectively. Whereas at operating temperature of 25℃, there was decay of 82.33% in 60 seconds, 80.31% in 60 seconds and 95.27% in 120 seconds respectively. The content of RAM suffered significant decay within two minutes without power supply at operating temperature while at a reduced temperature less than 5% decay was observed. The findings show data can be recovered for forensic evidence even if the culprit shuts down the computer.

Research on RAM-C-based Cost Estimation Methods for the Supply of Military Depot Maintenance PBL Project (군직 창정비 수리부속 보급 PBL 사업을 위한 RAM-C 기반 비용 예측 방안 연구)

  • With the rapid advancement and sophistication of defense weapon systems, the government, military, and the defense industry have conducted various innovative attempts to improve the efficiency of post-logistics support(PLS). The Ministry of Defense has mandated RAM-C(Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability-Cost) analysis as a requirement according to revised Total Life Cycle System Management Code of Practice in May 2022. Especially, for the project budget forecast of new PBL(Performance Based Logistics) business contacts, RAM-C is recognized as an obligatory factor. However, relevant entities have not officially provided guidelines or manuals for RAM-C analysis, and each defense contractor conducts RAM-C analysis with different standards and methods to win PBL-related business contract. Hence, this study aims to contribute to the generalization of the analysis procedure by presenting a cost analysis case based on RAM-C for the supply of military depot maintenance PBL project. This study presents formulas and procedures to determine requirements of military depot maintenance PBL project for repair parts supply. Moreover, a sensitivity analysis was conducted to find the optimal cost/utilization ratio. During the process, a correlation was found between supply delay and total cost of ownership as well as between cost variability and utilization rate. The analysis results are expected to provide an important basis for the conceptualization of the cost analysis for the supply of military depot maintenance PBL project and are capable of proposing the optimal utilization rate in relation to cost.

  • 삼성전자가 본격적인 디지털 녹화 시대 개막을 알리는 램(RAM)방식의 DVD레코더(모델명:DVD-R5000)를 국내에 출시한다. 삼성전자가 이번에 출시하는 램(RAM)방식의 레코더는 PC를 기반으로 하고 있기 때문에 녹화와 재생 등이 타 방식보다 빠르다는 것이 가장 큰 특징이다. 즉 디스크에 기록된 영상과 음성등을 가장 빨리 찾고, 재생할 수 있다는 점이다.

  • Using numerical simulations, we study the effects of ram pressure stripping on dwarf galaxies. It is commonly assumed that ram pressure only affects the gas component of a galaxy. We find that it actually can affect the dynamics of the stars too, and even the dark matter surrounding the disk - an effect dubbed 'ram pressure drag'. We study the effects of ram pressure drag on tidal dwarf galaxies, and find the response is very strong. Tidal dwarfs may be entirely destroyed by gas removal, and their stellar dynamics may appear heavily dark matter dominated where no dark matter exists. We discuss the consequences for tidal dwarf evolution, tidal streams, and disk galaxy evolution in general.

  • The objective of this study is to provide a simple methodology to find optimum processing conditions to fabricate sub-micron structured DVD-RAM substrates with superb optical and geometrical properties. It was found that the birefringence, which is regarded as one of the most important optical properties for an optical disk, was very sensitive to the mold wall temperature history. Also, the integrity of the replication, represented by the land-groove structure and the radial tilt were influenced by the mold temperature and the compression pressure. A set of optimum conditions were obtained by applying Design of Experiment and the objective functions composed of three different objectives.

  • 실제 하천에서는 지형적 이산화에 따른 복잡성으로 인해 마름/젖음 현상이 발생하며 그로 인해 작은 수심에서 수치해석의 안정성에 영향을 주어 해석을 불가능하게 한다. 자연수로는 저수시 및 평수시에 물을 소통시키는 주수로부와 홍수시 수위 상승에 따라 주수로부에서부터 범람하게 되는 홍수터로 구성된다. 홍수터는 홍수류의 일시적인 저장이나 하류로 흐름을 전달하는 복합수로의 부분으로 사용된다. 자연수로에서 이와같은 흐름구조는 불규칙한 단면형상, 조도계수 등에 의해서 더욱 복잡하게 나타난다. 본 연구에서는 복잡한 지형과 자연 하천구조에 대한 동역학적인 흐름특성을 해석하고 오염물질의 이송-확산 해석 및 토사이송 해석과 연계하기 위해서 개발된 RAM-2 모형에 동수역학적 해석을 실시하였다. RAM-2 모형에는 대상하도에 대한 마름/젖음의 처리를 위해 흐름의 시간별 수위상승 및 하강 속도를 고려한 Deforming Grid 기법을 적용하였으며, 이에 대한 적용성을 검토하기 위해 마름/젖음 조건을 가지는 실험수로와 홍수터를 가진 사다리꼴 단면 그리고 실제 하도에 대해 적용하여 그 결과를 살펴보았다.

Analysis of Life-Cycle Cost for Urban Transit System using RAM (RAM을 고려한 도시철도시스템의 수명주기비용 분석)

  • This paper is concerned with the life-cycle cost(LCC) of the urban transit system which was developed by KRRI and is now under test in Gyeongsan, Korea. Its reliability, availability and maintainability(RAM) were analyzed. LCC is the core part of analyzing the total cost of acquisition and ownership of a system. LCC analysis of a system is the most effective when it is applied in the it's early design phase. In this paper, we present IEC 60300-3-3(Life Cycle Costing) in detail and propose how to apply LCC in assessing the urban transit system according to RAM process. This case study demonstrates that reliability management system is very effective in reducing the operating cost of subway corporations in Korea.

  • In this paper, the influence of ram-pressure on the static and dynamic characteristics of infinite width tilting-pad journal bearing is investigated theoretically. The ram-pressure is obtained by assumption of conservation of mechanical energy of the lubricant flow through the leading edge of the pad. The pressure in the lubricating film is numerically calculated using the ram-pressure obtained as the inlet pressure boundary condition of the pad. The static equilibrium state of tilting-pad journal bearing is determined by Newton-Raphson iteration method. A numerical results are presented in graphic form and relationships between the ram-pressure and the static and dynamic characteristics are discussed.

  • The influences of ram pressure on the performances of tilting-pad journal bearings are investigated experimentally. The test rig consists of a single tilting-pad and a rotating journal. Film thicknesses and pressure distribution of the lubricating film are measured continuously for several values of coordinate of the pivot position and journal speed. The findings of the investigation are as follows: (]) According as the journal speed increases the ram pressure increases, maximum pressure decreases and the pivot position which maximize the minimum film thickness shifts toward the leading edge. (2) The ram pressure makes it possible to generate the converging wedge and the positive pressure between the pad and the journal even when the pad is supported at the points between the leading edge and the center of the pad. (3) The influence of the ram pressure on the performance of tilting pad bearings is significant and must be considered in the design of these bearings.
