  • 1차원 수치해석망은 수위관측소와 우량관측소를 경계로 광역모형을 구성하고 HEC-RAS를 이용하여 부정류 해석을 실시하였다. 그 결과로 얻은 유량과 수위자료는 2차원 해석 모형인 RMA-2의 경계조건으로 적용하였다. 또한 수치지형도를 이용하여 2차원 격자망을 구성하고 RMA-2를 적용하여 수리특성을 분석하였다. 광역모형의 구성에 의한 HEC-RAS 부정류 해석 결과 제방설치 전과 후의 수리특성의 변화는 그리 크게 나타나지 않았다. 또한 RMA-2 해석 결과 계획홍수량 초과하는 홍수에서 대상유역에서 제방설치 전과 후의 변화는 통수단면적의 감소에 따른 빠른 흐름과 수위의 변화를 가져왔으나 그 크기는 현저하지 않음을 보여준다.

Efficient Target Bit Allocation Scheme in a Rate-Distortion Sense

  • Bit allocation is a critical problem in video encoding such as MPEG. To improve the quality of the reconstructed sequence for a given bit rate, the assigned target bits for a group of pictures (GOP) must be allocated to each picture efficiently. In this paper, we derive a target bit allocation algorithm for more efficient rate control, by assuming that the average rate-distortion curve for an input source is logarithmic. This target bit allocation is based on Shannon's rate-distortion theory, which deals with the minimization of source distortion subject to a channel rate constraint. Simulation results show that the proposed target bit allocation algorithm provides better performance than the one in MPEG-2 Test Model 5 (TM5).

  • In this paper, a RAID system is modeled and simulated by using the DEVS formalism. The RA[D system interacts with a host system by using the high-speed Fibre channel protocol and stores input data in an array of IDE disks. The DEVS formalism specifies discrete event systems in a hierarchical, modular manner. The RAID system model is composed of three units: primary-PCI unit, secondary-PCI unit and CPU unit. The primary-PCI unit interfaces with the host system and caches I/O data. The secondary-PCI unit includes disks. The CPU unit controls overall system. The control algorithm of CPU and PCI transactions are analyzed and modeled. From an analysis of simulation events, we can conclude that the proposed model satisfies given requirements.

  • Thermal diode is a device which allows heat to be transferred in one direction by convection due to density difference of fluid ,and blocks heat flow in the opposite direction. It is simple in construction and low in cost. And so, it is used as heat collection system of solar energy. In order to acquire a basic design data, thermal diode heat collection system has been studied experimentally for flux Rayleigh numbers from $2\times10^8\;to\;8\times10^8$. The heat transfer rate of this system is shown 10~47% higher than that of other earlier research results. He correlation obtained in this study is Nu=0.0037(Ra^*)^{0.429}(d^*)^{0.05}\frac{(Lr)}{H}^{0.415}$.

  • 하천의 수리 정보는 여러 가지 하천 사업 수행에 기본 자료로서 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 하지만 우리나라의 하천 수리 정보는 대하천 중심으로 조사되고 있고, 중 소하천에 대한 수문조사는 상대적으로 매우 미진한 실정이다. 본 연구의 목적은 중 소하천에 대하여 정확도 높은 수리 정보를 저비용, 실시간으로 취득하기 위한 시스템을 개발하는데 있다. 이를 위해 하천의 수면을 촬영하여 촬영된 영상을 실시간으로 서버로 자동전송하는 시스템인 WIA 시스템(wireless image acquisition system)을 개발하였다. 그리고 촬영된 영상을 분석하여 수위를 도출하는 영상 분석 프로그램, 수위-유량 관계 곡선(rating curve), 미계측 지점에 대한 하천수리 정보를 계산하기 위한 HEC-RAS를 포함하는 River-HQ 시스템을 개발하였다. 개발된 WIA & River-HQ 시스템은 한국건설기술연구원의 하천실험센터 내 직선 수로에서 검증되었다. 그 결과, 영상 분석에 의한 수위는 계측 수위와 유사하였고, 미 계측 단면에 대한 수위 역시 계측 결과를 비교적 잘 모사하였다.

An Experimental Study on Heat Transfer Characteristics of a Thermal Diode Type Enclosure with a Guide Vane

  • An experimental study for free convective heat transfer in a thermal diode type enclosure is presented. The thermal diode is a device which allows heat to be transferred in one direction by convection due to density difference of the fluid, and consists of a rectangular-paralle-logrammic enclosure with a guide vane. It is used as heat collection system of solar energy due to its simple construction and low cost. Experimental parameters were guide vane thickness, the inclination angles of the parallelogrammic enclosure, and the lengths of the rectangular enclosure part. The parameter range of the flux Rayleigh numbers was $2.4\times{10}^8$~$9.8\times{10}^8$. The heat transfer rate of this system was shown 10~47% higher than that of other earlier research results without the guide vane. The correlation for fixed $\phi=60^\circ$ was obtained, Nu=0.0037(Ra^*)^{0.429}(d^*)^ {0.050}(Lr/H)^{0.0415}$.

  • 본 논문에서는 컬러정보를 이용하여 외부 조명의 영향에 대응하면서 얼굴 후보영역을 추출하고, 추출된 후보 영역으로부터 다채널 스킨컬러 모델로 특정 정보를 추출하는 검출 기법을 제시한다. 외부 조명에 민감한 스킨컬러 특성을 고려해 색상정보와 광도를 분리할 수 있는 $YC_rC_b$ 색상모델을 이용하며, Green, Blue 채널의 정보를 Gaussian 확률밀도 모델로부터 $C_b-C_g$의 좁은 범위에 분포되어 있는 스킨컬러 영역 밀도를 모델링한다. 또한 얼굴영역에 Region Restricting과 임계값 반복 알고리즘을 사용하여 눈 영역 검출 과정을 보이고, 실시간 복합 얼굴 검출 시스템 조명방식에 의해 결과를 나타낸다.

  • Gustation, initiated by the detection of taste molecules by specific receptors expressed in taste cells, plays an essential role in food selection and consequently in overall nutrition for humans. In the past decade, a remarkable amount of knowledge of taste perception in the neurology, molecular biology, and genetics has emerged, particularly in basic tastes- sweet, bitter, sour, salt and umami. Among them, sweet, bitter and umami are recognized via the specific G-protein coupled receptors. Salt and sour are primarily mediated by apically located ion channel-type receptors. Because excessive salt or sugar consumption leads to high rates of diet-associated diseases and it comes from eating prepared or processed foods, an understanding of the underlying mechanisms in salt and sweet perception is crucial in food industry. This review will focus on recent progress of the perception of salt and sweet taste to provide basic knowledge for reducing salt and sugar consumption.

Analysis of changes of flood inundation depth and area according to channel migration and river improvement using HEC-GeoRAS (HEC-GeoRAS를 이용한 하천이설에 따른 홍수범람지역 변화 분석)

  • In this study, the HEC-GeoRAS model was used to estimate the changes of flood inundation depth and area of the Hyeoam-cheon basin after the channel migration and river improvement. The target area was extremely damaged due to the heavy rainfall on 25th August, 2014 after the costruction. According to the results of the analysis, the HEC-GeoRAS model can be used to accurately estimate the changes of flood innundation depth and area in agrecultural lands and lowlands of which the topographic changes and elevation differences are small. The inundation depths were increased 0.99 m in heavy rainfall and 0.39 m in 100 year frequency flood. The inundation areas in 100 year frequency flood were reduced in inundation depths under 1.5 m while they were increased in depths above 4.5 m. It was concluded that the loss of natural resevoir capacity of agricultural lands and lowlands due to the channel migration and river improvement caused the damage of flood in 2014 and the decrease of actual effective widths of the channel added the damage.
