Development of Frictional Wall Damper and Its Analytical Applications in R/C frame Structures (벽식마찰감쇄기의 개발 및 R/C 골조구조물에의 해석적 적용)

  • A wall type friction damper is newly Proposed in this paper to improve the performance of R/C framed structures under earthquake loads. Although traditional dampers are usually placed as bracing members, the application ot bracing-type dampers into R/C structures is not as simple as those of steel structures due to the connection between R/C members and dampers and the stress concentration in connection region. Proposed damper is consisted of Teflon-sheet slider and R/C shear wall. The damper can also avoid stress concentration and reduce P-Δ effect. To evaluate the performance of proposed damper, nonlinear dynamic analyses are carried on 10 story and 3 bay R/C structures with numerical model for the damper. It is shown that the damper reduces the inter-story drifts and the time-historic responses; especially the damper prevents from forming plastic hinges on the lower columns.

  • Recently, collapse of structures is frequently occurred, so precautionary measures against accidents are requested. In this study, periodic deformations of structure are surveyed using C.R.P technique and these were used to estimate absolute deformation associated with geodetic network. Also, as compared with inclinometer outcome, correlation of these results was obtained. As a results of this study, a difficult problem of control survey was resolved as control points arranged on intervisible parts of structure. And the transformation parameters for absolute deformation analysis were determined incorporating reference network with control network. This eventually led to possibility for analysis of ground behavior, moreover we were able to overcome a limitation of traditional method that could measure only a part of objects.

  • 반도체 및 TFT-LCD등을 생산하는 공장 구조물에는 C/R이 있으며, 여기에는 외부 진동에 엄격한 특성을 갖고 있는 각종 수 많은 정밀장비가 설치되어 있다. 더구나, 이러한 정밀장비등의 정상운용을 위하여 각종 UT(유틸리티)등이 병행하여 C/R내 산재해 설치되어 있다. 이러한 UT는 정밀장비와 각종 배관들로 연결되어 설치되어 있다. 또한 C/R의 항온/항습등을 유지하기 위하여 공조등 부대 유틸리티도 또한 설치되어 있으며, 이러한 각종 유틸리티는 진동은 유발하는 진동원이 되며, 여기서 발생하는 진동은 C/R의 진동환경을 열악하게 만들 수 있다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 TFT-LCD 생산 공장에서 UT와 배관등에서 발생하는 진동이 공장 구조물(격자보)와 공진현상을 일으켜 인접하여 설치 된 정밀장비에 악영향을 끼치고 있음을 현장 진동 측정과 구조물 동적 해석을 통하여 확인하였고, 제안한 저감대책을 수행 후 진동 영향성의 감소됨을 확인하였다.

Model Analysis of R/C Framed Structures to Earthquake Excitations (지진하중을 받는 철근콘크리트 골조 구조물의 모드 해석)

  • An approximate method of normal coordinate idealization for use in nonlinear R /C frames has been developed. Normal coordinate apporaches have been used for nonlinear problems in the past, but they are not recerved wide acceptance because of the need for eigenvector computation in each time step. The proposed method circumvents the eigenvector recalculation problem by evaluating a limited number of sets of mode shapes in performing the dynamic analysis. Then some of the predetermined sets of eigenvectors are used in the nonlinear dynamic repeatedly. The method is applied to frame structures with ductile R /C elements. The plastic hinge zones are modeled with hysteres~s loops which evince degrading stiffness and pinching effects. Effxiencies and accuracies of the method for this application are presented.

  • The purpose of this paper was to understand the dynamics of deployment of large mesh antennas, and to provide a numerical method for determining the dynamic stiffness and the driving forces for the design. The deployment structure was numerically modeled using the frame elements. The eigenvalue analysis was demonstrated, with respect to the folded and unfolded configurations of the antenna. A multibody dynamic model was formulated with Kane's equation, and simulated using the pseudo upper triangular decomposition (PUTD) method for resolving the constrained problem. Based on the multibody model, the kinetics of the deployment, the motor driving forces, and the feasibility of the designed deployment structure were investigated.

Axial Compressive Behavior of the R/C Short Columns Strengthened with CFS (탄소섬유쉬트로 횡보강된 R/C단주의 압축거동)

  • To observe the confinement effects of Carbon Fiber Sheet(CFS) on the high-strength R/C short columns, Fifteen specimens with CFS were manufactured and tested under uni-axial compressive load. Major variables of this study are amount, spacing, type of CFS and amount of transverse steel. Increasing the amount of transverse steel and CFS, compressive strength and axial rigidity is improved. R/C columns with transverse steel and CFS exhibited less axial stress than columns with only CFS. From the test results, it is shown that the area confined with transverse steel and CFS is considerably important to evaluate axial stress of R/C short columns.

  • 본 소고는 철근콘크리트 구조물에 관련된 현재의 실험적, 해석적 연구의 수준을 정리 요약한 것으로서 이력모델에 따른 철근콘크리트 구조물의 응답과 모델의 선택시에 빈번히 만나게 되는 문제점 및 해석시 응답모델의 선택 등에 대해 기술하였다. 실제적으로 R/C 구조물의 비선형 이력모델은 그 범위가 매우 넓고 다양하기 때문에 일률적으로 설명하기가 매우 어려운 점이 있다. 여기서는 철근콘크리트 구조물의 이력모델의 종류 및 범위에 대하여 소개하고 그 특성 및 형성과정에 대해 간략하게 설명하기로 한다.

  • This paper suggests a systematic procedure for maintenance of reinforced concrete (R/C) structures. In this paper the deteriorations of R/C structures are classified by eleven causes and diagonistic techniques are devided into six major steps. The suggested diagonisis steps are summarized in the flow chart and it would be helpful to develop the expert system for maintenance of R/C structures.

Energy Dissipation Demand of Braces Using Non-linear Dynamic Analyses of X-Braced Frame (비선형 동적 해석을 통한 X형 가새골조 내 가새 부재의 에너지 소산)

  • The response of single story buildings and other case studies were investigated to observe trends and develop a better understanding of the impact of some design parameters on the seismic response of Concentrically Braced Frames (CBF). While many parameters are known to influence the behavior of braced frames, the focus of this study was mostly on quantifying energy dissipation in compression and its effectiveness on seismic performance. Based on dynamic analyses of single story braced frame and case studies, a bracing member designed with bigger R and larger KL/r was found to result in lower normalized cumulative energy ratio in both cases.
