Soil erosion is detrimental to sustain soil productivity in north Korea, since agriculture of this country depends largely upon the slope land in mountainous area. Taking any measure for protection from erosion should be based on prediction of soil loss. Estimation of rainfall factor, R, in north Korea for the Universal Soil Loss Equation was attempted. The monthly precipitation data of the twenty six locations provided by the Korean Meteorological Adminstration were used. From the relationship between II_30 and the July-August precipitation concentration percents, the regional adjustment factor was obtained. The rainfall factor was calculated with the monthly precipitation data and the regional adjustment factor. The annual precipitation in north Korea ranged from 606 to 1,520mm, and the July-August precipitation concentration percents were 34.4 to 53.8. The regional adjustment factor ranged from 0.53 to 1.33 showing lower value in the highland and east coastal region than in the mid mountainous inland and west region. The R-factor value estimated from the monthly precipitation and the regional adjustment factor ranged from 107 to 483, which was lower than average value in south Korea.
To fulfill applicability of Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model, it is important that this model passes through a careful calibration and uncertainty analysis. In recent years, many researchers have come up with various uncertainty analysis techniques for SWAT model. To determine the differences and similarities of typical techniques, we applied three uncertainty analysis procedures to Chungju Dam watershed (6,581.1 $km^2$) of South Korea included in SWAT-Calibration Uncertainty Program (SWAT-CUP): Sequential Uncertainty FItting algorithm ver.2 (SUFI2), Generalized Likelihood Uncertainty Estimation (GLUE), Parameter Solution (ParaSol). As a result, there was no significant difference in the objective function values between SUFI2 and GLUE algorithms. However, ParaSol algorithm shows the worst objective functions, and considerable divergence was also showed in 95PPU bands with each other. The p-factor and r-factor appeared from 0.02 to 0.79 and 0.03 to 0.52 differences in streamflow respectively. In general, the ParaSol algorithm showed the lowest p-factor and r-factor, SUFI2 algorithm was the highest in the p-factor and r-factor. Therefore, in the SWAT model calibration and uncertainty analysis of the automatic methods, we suggest the calibration methods considering p-factor and r-factor. The p-factor means the percentage of observations covered by 95PPU (95 Percent Prediction Uncertainty) band, and r-factor is the average thickness of the 95PPU band.

This study proposed a classification method of LIDAR data by using simultaneously the color information (R, G, B) and reflection intensity information (I) obtained from terrestrial LIDAR and by analyzing the association between these data through the use of statistical classification methods. To this end, first, the factors that maximize variance were calculated using the variables, R, G, B, and I, whereby the factor matrix between the principal factor and each variable was calculated. However, although the factor matrix shows basic data by reducing them, it is difficult to know clearly which variables become highly associated by which factors; therefore, Varimax method from orthogonal rotation was used to obtain the factor matrix and then the factor scores were calculated. And, by using a non-hierarchical clustering method, K-mean method, a cluster analysis was performed on the factor scores obtained via K-mean method as factor analysis, and afterwards the classification accuracy of the terrestrial LiDAR data was evaluated.

We study the structure of right regular commutators, and call a ring R strongly C-regular if ab - ba ∈ (ab - ba)2R for any a, b ∈ R. We first prove that a noncommutative strongly C-regular domain is a division algebra generated by all commutators; and that a ring (possibly without identity) is strongly C-regular if and only if it is Abelian C-regular (from which we infer that strong C-regularity is left-right symmetric). It is proved that for a strongly C-regular ring R, (i) if R/W(R) is commutative, then R is commutative; and (ii) every prime factor ring of R is either a commutative domain or a noncommutative division ring, where W(R) is the Wedderburn radical of R.
In this paper, the concepts of ω-linked homomorphisms, the ω𝜙-operation, and DW𝜙 rings are introduced. Also the relationships between ω𝜙-ideals and ω-ideals over a ω-linked homomorphism 𝜙 : R → T are discussed. More precisely, it is shown that every ω𝜙-ideal of T is a ω-ideal of T. Besides, it is shown that if T is not a DW𝜙 ring, then T must have an infinite number of maximal ω𝜙-ideals. Finally we give an application of Cohen's Theorem over ω-factor rings, namely it is shown that an integral domain R is an SM-domain with ω-dim(R) ≤ 1, if and only if for any nonzero ω-ideal I of R, (R/I)ω is an Artinian ring, if and only if for any nonzero element α ∈ R, (R/(a))ω is an Artinian ring, if and only if for any nonzero element α ∈ R, R satisfies the descending chain condition on ω-ideals of R containing a.
Adsorption experiment was carried out to find the adsorption capacity and characteristics of heavy metals(Cd, Pb) onto soil and mixed soil with food compost. Result showed that mixed soil having higher organic content adsorbed more heavy metal than soil, indicating that food compost can be used effectively to prevent soil pollution. Linear adsorption isotherm which adopted to find the adsorption characteristics was used to calculate Retardation Factor(R). The value of Retardation Factor(R)s of Pb and Cd in mixed soil, found as 34.54, 24.42 respectively, are higher than those in soil which were found as 4.64, 3.67, respectively. The value of Retardation Factor(R) using Freundlich adsorption isotherm could be presented by the functions of concentration and showed similar result as the linear one. But Freundlich adsorption isotherm showed higher relationship than linear one and the retardation factor(R) from freundlich adsorption isotherm was thought as more effective method to assess adsorption capacity because it could reflect gradient and intercept of the isotherm.

In the design of buildings, lateral loading is one of the most important factors considered by structural designers. The concept of performance-based design (PBD) is well developed for seismic load. Whereas, wind design is mainly based on elastic analysis for both serviceability and strength. For tall buildings subject to extreme wind load, inelastic behavior and application of the concept of PBD bear consideration. For seismic design, current practice primarily presumes inelastic behavior of the structure and that energy is dissipated by plastic deformation. However, due to analysis complexity and computational cost, calculations used to predict inelastic behavior are often performed using elastic analysis and a response modification factor (R). Inelastic analysis is optionally performed to check the accuracy of the design. In this paper, a framework for application of an R factor for wind design is proposed. Theoretical background on the application and implementation is provided. Moreover, seismic and wind fatigue issues are explained for the purpose of quantifying the modification factor R for wind design.

To establish the evaluation of the fatigue crack growth behavior in 5083-O aluminum alloy, constant load-amplitude fatigue crack growth tests were carried out under the small scale yielding conditions. Crack length and closure of this material were measured by the compliance method using a clip-on gage. The main results obtained as follows: The fatigue crack growth rate against stress intensity factor range .DELTA.K exhibits the trilinear form with two transitions at the growth rate 5.5*10$^{-6}$ and 5.5*10$^{-5}$ mm/cycle, in the so-caled Region II. The trilinear form appears still in the plot of growth rate versus effective stress intensity factor range .DELTA. $K_{eff}$. Stress ratio R affects the relationship of crack growth rates versus .DELTA.K but does not affect the reation of crack growth rate versus .DELTA. $K_{eff}$. The experimental results indicate that the effective stress intensity range ratio U depends on the maximum stress intensity factor $K_{max}$, but not on the stress ratio R.o R.R.

Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) has been widely used to estimate potential soil loss because USLE is a simple and reliable method. The rainfall erosivity factor (R factor) explains rainfall characteristics. R factors, cited in the Bulletin on the Survey of the Erosion of Topsoil of the Ministry of Environment in the Republic of Korea, are too outdated to represent current rainfall patterns in the Republic of Korea. Rainfall datasets at one minute intervals from 2013 to 2017 were collected from fifty rainfall gauge stations to update R factors considering current rainfall condition. The updated R factors in this study were compared to the previous R factors which were calculated using the data from 1973 to 1996. The coefficient of determination between the updated and the previous R factors shows 0.374, which means the correlation is not significant. Therefore, it was concluded that the previous R factors might not explain current rainfall conditions. The other remarkable result was that regression equations using annual rainfall data might be inappropriate to estimate reasonable R factors because the correlation between annual rainfall and the R factors was generally unsatisfy.

SATEEC System ver.
