This paper presents a framework for implementing R&D project. Fundamental R&D investment process framework and success factors while considering risks and uncertainties of project will be described to illustrate an efficient and effective R&D management system in a firm.

R.P.D fabrication can be made if the skills already is properly used in the manufacturing press. You may feel extremely comfortable to wear it. The material used has high elasticity that it can endure the hole process of Acetal Wax pattern casting without any deformation moreover its adaptability is not bad. Because of the poor financial condition of patterns and health insurance, Acetal R.P.D Framework can be one of the best alternatives used for setting clasp partial denture cheaply. R.P.D Framework is aesthetically excellent. The color caused by saliva is so similar to that of the rest of teeth that even dentists as well as patients can not recognize clasp arm. Clasp also helps to secure prosthesis ideally without damaging teeth due to its deep position downward. Since dentists and patients have a good reaction to clasp so far, we are encouraged to apply it to other technical fields.

This paper proposes an R&D opportunity scan framework for information and telecommunications company in aging society. The framework consists of trend analysis, market-oriented search, technology-oriented search, and R&D Portfolio development. We identify technology themes in the market-oriented search by developing market scenarios and analyzing a new business model framework. And then we search prospective technologies in the technology-oriented recess by technology scanning and patent analysis. By matching technology themes with prospective technologies, generate an R&D portfolio. Finally, we evaluate the risk of the proposed R&D portfolio.

최근 시장의 글로벌화가 가속되고, 기업경쟁이 심화되는 환경에서 R&D는 기업의 지속적인 성장과 발전에 중요한 경영요소로 대두되고 있다. 이에 성공적인 R&D 활동을 위한 프로세스 및 세부활동들을 제안하고 검증하는 연구들이 활발하게 진행되고 있고 있으며 기업의 R&D 프로세스를 평가하고 개선하고자 하는 노력 또한 지속되고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 대부분의 기존 연구에서는 R&D 프로세스의 평가에 대한 구체적인 평가체계가 부재한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 프로세스의 성숙도 평가 모델로 개발된 CMMI 평가체계를 기반으로 R&D 프로세스에 적합한 평가체계를 개발하고자 한다. 특히 본 연구에서는 R&D 프로세스를 3가지 유형-신제품, 서비스, 원천기술 개발을 위한 R&D-로 구분하여 유형별 맞춤화된 프로세스 평가체계를 제안한다. 이를 위해 첫째, 유형 별 R&D 활동의 특징을 분석하고 이를 토대로 R&D 프로세스를 정의하고, 문헌 연구를 통해 각 유형에 적합한 R&D 프로세스별 세부활동을 도출한다. 그 후 CMMI 평가기법을 기반으로 한 R&D 프로세스 평가방법을 제안하며, 마지막으로 제안된 평가체계가 적용된 시스템을 구현하는 순서로 진행된다. 본 연구결과는 기업의 R&D 프로세스를 평가하고 개선하기 위한 구체적인 지침으로 유용하게 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

The framework develops scenarios, creates product/service concept, derives technology theme for identifying specific technologies.

우리나라는 국가연구개발사업을 추진하는데 있어 효율적 연구개발 수행, 기술기획 및 성과확산의 시스템이 미흡하여 연구개발 투자 효율성이 낮다. 본 연구에서는 국가 연구개발 사업의 효율적인 기획, 관리 체제 구축을 위한 국가연구개발정보의 효율적인 프레임워크를 구상하여, 표준화 및 호환성 확보를 통한 분산된 국가 과학기술정보 DB를 종합하여 관리 서비스 할 수 있는 국가과학기술 포털 시스템 구축을 통하여 국가 연구개발 활동 주체간의 원활한 정보유통을 위한 연구개발 수행 및 관리의 효율적이고 효과적인 정보지원체제 구축 방안을 제안한다.

Based on the characteristics of 'Korean electric power industry R&D programs', this study proposes a new performance evaluation framework where electric power industry related R&D projects are scrutinized. The abovementioned R&D programs have their own goals and especially they emphasize the effectiveness as well as the efficiency of each subordinate R&D project. Hence, in this framework, a performance evaluation procedure is established and then a mathematical model is developed according to the procedure. The model calculates performance evaluation indices for a set of R&D projects integrating the effectiveness with the efficiency of each R&D project. In a case study with an empirical dataset, statistical significance is tested on the integrated performance evaluation indices of R&D projects regarding organizational types and program categories considered.

Performance management is very popular in business area and seems to be an exciting topic. Despite significant research efforts and myriads of performance metrics, performance management today as a rigorous approach is still in an immature state and metrics are often selected based on intuitive and heuristic approach. In a R&D sector, the difficulty to select the proper performance metrics is even more increasing due to the natural characteristics of R&D such as unique or domain-specific problems. In this paper, we present a way of presenting R&D performance framework using ontology language. Based on this, the specific metrics can be derived by reusing or inheriting the context in the framework. The proposed ontological framework is formalized using OWL(Ontology Web Language) and metrics selection rules satisfying the characteristics of R&D are represented in SWRL(Semantic Web Rule Language). Actual metrics selection procedure is carried out using JESS rule engine, a plug-in to Prot$\acute{e}$g$\acute{e}$, and illustrated with an example, incorporating a prevalent R&D performance model : TVP(Technology Value Pyramid).

With the constant growth of R&D investment, it has been increasingly necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of R&D performance and there is a high emphasis on ensuring the accountability and effectiveness of R&D programs. The evaluation of performance of a firm is especially necessary in times of economic downturn to justify R&D investment. However, there is a marked shortage of clear guidelines as to where and how particular metrics are used to measure the output and outcome of R&D activity in firms. Many firms have difficulties in selecting appropriate indicators for their R&D and financial performances. To fill this gap, this article discusses and presents the findings from the literature in such a way that they become useful for researchers or managers who are in charge of measuring the R&D and business performances arising from innovation activities. Finally, based on the findings about metrics of R&D performance, this article proposes the hypothetical framework to investigate the relationship between technology forecasting, strategic technology planning, and business performance. The framework of this article will assist policy makers, universities, research institutes/national laboratories, and companies to enhance their decision making process in technology development.

This paper presents a framework for processing a structured approach of R&D investment. It presents nine steps to operate R&D investment from analysis of environment situation to review and feedback its activity. Also fundamental questions fur effective R&D management in business are discussed and after that critical eight success factors for R&D investment are discussed.
