Improved Method for Angle-of-View Measurement of Display Devices

  • With increasing demand for better FPD image quality, better evaluation metrics and advanced display quality measurement methods are required to meet these needs. There are many measurement methods to evaluate viewing angle of the various different display devices. However, these methods, which include luminance drop, color shift, and contrast ratio decrease, are imperfect considering that human perception does not completely correlate to these methods. In this paper, we propose a new method for measuring perceptual angle of FPDs considering human visual perception, which uses color space of the color appearance model.

Emotional Image Quality Evaluation Technology for Display Devices

  • In this paper, we explained the relation between evaluating display device and emotional image quality evaluation in human perceptual view. It is also suggested two emotional image quality evaluation method of display reflecting human visual function. One is the color space of CIECAM02 and the other is capturing moving image. It is necessary to standardize the evaluation methods of image quality based on emotional evaluation.

A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION OF UNPROTECTED LOSS-OF-FLOW ACCIDENT FOR A PROTOTYPE FAST-BREEDER REACTOR

  • In the original licensing application for the prototype fast-breeder reactor, MONJU, the event progression during an unprotected loss of flow (ULOF), which is one of the technically inconceivable events postulated beyond design basis, was evaluated. Through this evaluation, it was confirmed that radiological consequences could be suitably limited even if mechanical energy was released. Following the Fukushima-Daiichi accident, a new nuclear safety regulation has become effective in Japan. The conformity of MONJU to this new regulation should hence be investigated. The objectives of the present study are to conduct a preliminary evaluation of ULOF for MONJU, reflecting the knowledge obtained after the original licensing application through CABRI experiments and EAGLE projects, and to gain the prospect of in-vessel retention for the conformity of MONJU to the new regulation. The preliminary evaluation in the present study showed that no significant mechanical energy release would take place, and that thermal failure of the reactor vessel could be avoided by the stable cooling of disrupted-core materials. This result suggests that the prospect of in-vessel retention against ULOF, which lies within the bounds of the original licensing evaluation and conforms to the new nuclear safety regulation, will be gained.

Morie Topography를 이용한 피부 탄력 평가와 Cutometer 결과와의 상관성 연구 (Correlation between Cutometer and Quantitative Evaluation Using Moire Topography in Age-related Skin Elasticity)

  • 나이가 들어감에 따라 피부에 주름이 생기고 건조해지며 탄력이 감소하게 된다. 피부 탄력은 주름과 같은 다른 변화항목처럼 노화에 따른 변화를 극명하게 눈으로 확인하기 힘들어 평가 방법에 타당성을 부여하는 과정이 더욱 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 연령과 기기측정 결과인 Cutometer parameters 값 간의 상관관계를 확인하였으며, 각각의 parameters가 노화에 의한 피부 탄력 감소를 반영해준다는 사실을 확인하였다(Ur/Uf, Ur/Uf, Ur/Ue, Ua, $r=0.687{\sim}0.725)$. 또한 눈으로 보여지는 변화와 직접 피부를 만져보았을 때 느껴지는 변화를 정량평가하기 위한 평가법을 개발하였다. 50명의 건강한 여성을 대상으로 얼굴 부위에서 Moire 사진을 획득하였으며 이중 피부 탄력을 설명해줄 수 있는 다섯 단계의 Moire topographic photo scale을 선정하였다. 그 다음 동일한 조건으로 $20{\sim}61$세의 여성을 대상으로 Moire 사진을 촬영하고, 제시된 scale을 기준으로 피부 탄력정도를 평가하였다. 본 연구결과, Cutometer를 이용한 기기평가$(r=-0.687{\sim}-0.725)$와 Moire topography score (r=-938)에 의한 결과는 연령과 매우 높은 음의 상관관계를 가짐을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 Cutometer 값과 Moire topography 점수간의 상관성도 비교 두 평가법 간의 상관관계가 높음을 알 수 있었다(r=0.711). 따라서 안면부 Moire topography를 이용한 평가는 기기측정으로 확인할 수 있었던 피부 탄력 변화를 시각적으로 나타내어 줄 수 있었다.

Design and fabrication of plastic diffractive / refractive hybrid lenses for image communication

  • We discuss the design and fabrication of CCD or C-MOS imaging lenses with hybrid diffractive / refractive optics. The hybrid lenses are made of optical grade plastic materials. We have been able to significantly reduce the number of elements while maintaining very high optical quality. This paper describes the conception, design, fabrication and evaluation of hybrid lenses in comparison with conventional refractive lenses. The new lens has excellent optical quality, very light weight, compact size and low manufacturing cost.

  • Burst Error Channel의 에러 정정 기술로써 Reed-Solomon Product Code(RSPC)가 광범위하게 사용되고 있다. 그러나 Random Error Channel과는 달리 Burst Error Channel 상에서 RSPC의 에러 정정 평가 방법에는 많은 어려움이 있다. 우리는 이번 논문에서 Burst Error Channel 상에서 RSPC의 Error Correction Capability의 확률적인 계산 방법을 기술하려 한다.

  • 광 디스크 channel상에서 RSPC의 error correction capability를 확률적인 계산 방법으로 계산하는 데는 많은 어려움이 있다. 그 이유는 바로 광 디스크 channel이 burst error channel이기 때문인데, 이 burst error를 어떻게 다루는 가에 따라 그 error correction capability는 사뭇 달라진다. 이 논문에서는 Sony의 dust error distribution[1] 아래에서 4-state Morkov Chain[2]로 modeling하고 그 결과를 가지고 burst error를 channel의 특성과 ECC format의 특성에 맞게 제어할 수 있는 확률적인 계산방법을 소개하고 그것을 simulation하고자 한다.

  • FCEV uses 250 ~ 450 V instead of using 12 V battery. High voltage vehicle can cause electric shock, fire and explosion accident. Therefore, it has potential factors that can cause hazard of safety for users. United states of America and Europe legislate regulations such as ECE R100, FMVSS 305 for regulating electrical safety during driving or after collision. The company manufacturing high voltage components must do advanced R&D about Method for improving and confirming the safety of high voltage. We develop the specific hardware components of high voltage wiring system for the power train system and power supply system of Hyundai Motors FCEV. This paper shows test method of insulative performance for securing the electrical safety of high voltage components such as power cable, connectors and buss-bar, and proposals the guide line value for human safety of FCEV according to the test result of our development components.
