Dissolution rate , periduium state, nutrient component and fatty acid composition of 5 species of natural pollen and 3 species of processed pollen were carried out for evaluation of quality. Natural pollens had average 11.5% of moistures, and had native peridium may be responsible for allergy. The average dissolution rate of natural pollens were low as 66.3%. One among 3 species of processed pollen was observed to have not peridium, resulted in higher dissolution rate. Major fatty acid of pollen was palmitic acid but content of oleic acid was lower than that of other plant seeds.

In the phosphoric acid based etchant, the dissolution rates of Mo films were measured by microgravimetry and the corrosion potentials of Mo and Al were estimated by Tafel plot method with various concentrations of nitric acid. Dissolution rate of Mo increased with the nitric acid concentration and reached a limiting value at high concentration of nitric acid in ambient condition. Corrosion potentials of Mo and Al shifted to positive direction and the difference between potentials of both metals was about 1,100 mV and 1,200 mV with 1% and above 4% of $HNO_3$, respectively. For a Mo/Al bilayers, the dissolution rate inversion is the main reason for good taper angle in shower etching process. Taper angles are observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) after wet etching process for Mo/Al layered films with different concentrations of $HNO_3$. In the etch side profile, it was found that Al corroded faster than Mo below 4% of $HNO_3$ in dip etching process, however, Mo corroded faster above 4%. Trend for variation of taper angle of etched side of Mo/Al layered film can be explained by considering the effect corrosion rates of both metals with various concentrations of $HNO_3$.
This study compared FTIR with XRD method for the analysis of quartz by % recovery, coefficient of variation (CV) and influence of the interference. the results were as the following. 1. In FTIR method, the coefficient of determination ($r^2$) was 0.9998 in a calibration curve of $695\;cm^{-1}$, and the limit of detection was $4.9{\mu}g/sample$. 2. The highest recovery was $799\;cm^{-1}$ (98.2%). 3. The CVpooled of the FTIR method was approximately 10% in three wave numbers. 4. The analysis of qualitative and quantitative for quartz is difficult with mixed cristobalite and iron oxide. 5. In XRD method with rotating sample holder and LynxEye detector, the coefficient of determination was 0.9996 in a calibration curve, and the limit of detection was $5.9{\mu}g/sample$. 6. The recovery and CV pooled were 104.3%, and 11 %, respectively. 7. In muffle furnace ashing, the quartz weight decreased to 34% when the maximum weight of the iron oxide was more than eight times. In conclusion, the accuracy (% recovery) and precision (CV) of FTIR and XRD method for analyzing $\alpha$-quartz were similar. FTIR method was a disadvantage for sample matrix because it indicates possibility of interference. However, XRD method distinguished specific crystalline forms of silica, and the majority of silicate minerals. In addition, XRD method recommend filter dissolution to pretreatment method.
The kinetic and mechanism of the hydrothermal reaction between lime and quartz used solid state reaction equations have been investigated. Hydrothermal reaction on the starting materials was carried out in an autoclave that quartz mixed with calcium hydroxide in CaO/$SiO_2$ ratio of 0.8-1.0 for 0.5-8 hour at saturated steam pressure of $180-200^{\circ}C$. The rate of reaction was given from the ratio of uncombined lime and quartz content to the total lime and quartz content. The rate of reaction was obtained the results by the Jander's equation $[1-(1-\alpha)^{1/3}]^N=Kt$. The reaction of lime is controlled mainly by the dissolution such as N=1, and the reaction of quartz is controlled mostly by the diffusion such as $N\risingdotseq2$. The rate of hydrothermal reaction in the calcium silicate hydrates system is suggested to be determined generally by the mass transfer through the product laver formed around the reactant particles. The rate equation for whole hydrothermal reaction is shown that it is converted into the rate determining step by the diffusion from the boundary reaction such as approximately $N=1-2$.

In order to dissolve Au, Ag, and other valuable metals from gold ore concentrate, raw gold concentrate was pre-treated by roasting and salt-roasting at $750^{\circ}C$. The roasted concentrate was treated with aqua regia digestion to dissolve the valuable metals and higher amount of Au, Ag, and valuable metals were extracted from the roasted concentrates than from the raw concentrate. Higher amount of these metals were also extracted from the salt-roasted concentrate than from the roasted concentrate. The results of the gold dissolution experiments showed that the gold dissolution was most efficient when particle size, roasting temperature, and the percentage of added salt in salt roasting were about $181{\sim}127{\mu}m$, $750^{\circ}C$, and was 20.0%, respectively. The XRD analysis suggests that quartz and pyrite were not destroyed even through roasting at $750^{\circ}C$ and decomposition with aqua regia. However, through salt roasting, pyrite was completely decomposed, whereas quartz could not be destroyed through salt-roasting at $750^{\circ}C$ and aqua regia digestion. Accordingly, it was expected that the gold contained in quartz can not be dissolved through salt-roasting and treatment with aqua regia.

Near-infrared (NIR) system was used to determine rapidly and simply indomethacin in buffer solution for a dissolution test for tablets and capsules. Indomethacin standards were prepared ranging from 10 to 50ppm using mixture of phosphate buffer(pH 7,2) and water(1:4), The near infrared(NIR) transmittance spectra of indomethacin standard solutions were collected by using a quartz cell in 1 mm and 2mm pathlength, Partial least-square regression (PLSR) was explored to develop calibration models over the spectral range 1100-1700nm. The weathering characteristics of periodically submerged sedimentary rocks in the Sayeon dam, Ulsan was examined by field work, electron probe micro-analysis, X-ray diffraction, and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry. Analysis of fracture zone and exfoliation showed the submerged sedimentary rocks have undergone severe mechanical weathering. Mechanical weathering in the water-rock interface accelerated chemical weathering, such as dissolution and alteration of the most of minerals except for quartz in the weathering zone. The dissolution of carbonates specially calcite, is remarkable creating the cavities, whereas formation of minerals including clay minerals is not active. The sedimentary rocks have been periodically submerged for a certain period of time, and have repeated freezing and thawing. This mechanical weathering favored infiltration, which accelerated mineral dissolution. The high content of easily soluble carbonate of the sedimentary rocks is likely the major cause of intense chemical weathering. The dissolved elements within the infiltrated water interrupted the occurrence of clay and weathering minerals, and expend fractures by infiltrated water accelerated weathering process.

High quality quartz crystals are grown in 0.5N NaOH + LiOH solution on the seed crystal at $370-395^{\circ}C$ and $1200-1300kg/cm^2$ condition. Growth rates are determined by the crystal thickness grown on the seed crystals with Z(0001) and X($11\bar{2}0$) direction. Relatively high growth rate of Z(0001) direction gradually changes as the temperaure difference (${\Delta}$ Ti) between growth and dissolution zones from 25 to $10^{\circ}C$. The X axis direction is affeced by ${\Delta}$ Ti, and +X($11\bar{2}0$) direction shows a high growth rate than -X($\bar{1}\bar{1}20$) direction. According to the variation with kinds of solutions used, the crystal growth that in NaOH solution is found to be slower than that in $Na_2CO_3$ solution. However, for the case in the NaOH solution mixed with LiOH, it shows a favorable growth rate in terms of grown crystal quality.
The presence of tetragonal phase at the surface of $LiMn_2O_4$ pinicle due to a Jahn-Teller offset was previously reported to be one of the causes for capacity fading observed during cycling of $Li//Li_xMn_2O_4$ in 4V range. Further, it is reported that a Jahn-Teller effect in 4V range may be suppressed by substitution of Mn ions with Li ions or other transition metal ions. However, the direct evidence of the suppression of a Jahn-Teller effect in 4V range by substitution of Mn ions with other metal ions has not been reported. The dissolution and formation of surface film at the surface of $LiMn_2O_4$ electrodes also reportedly affect the capacity fading or rate capability. This study reports on the evidence of the onset and suppression of a Jahn-Teller effect in 4V range and the dissolution and formation of surface film at the surface of $LiMn_2O_4$ thin film electrodes using in situ bending beam method (BBM) in situ electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM).

In order to remove Fe impurity from low-grade pyrophyllite ore, the effect of certain variables such as particle size, concentration of sulfuric acid, amount of ammonium sulfate, added hydrogen peroxide, and temperature were studied. The euhedral cubic pyrites were observed in the low-grade pyrophyllite ore by reflected light microscopy, and quartz and dickite were identified in the sample by XRD analysis. The results of the Fe removal experiments showed that the best Fe removal parameters were when the particle size was at -325 mesh, the addition of $H_2SO_4$, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$ and $H_2O_2$ was at a 2.0 M, 10.0 g/l, and 3.0 M concentration, respectively, and at a $70^{\circ}C$ leaching temperature. In the dissolution kinetics analysis, the dissolution of Fe from the pyrite surface was a controlled chemical reaction, and the Fe dissolution reaction was proportioned to 0.066/R, $[H_2SO_4]^{1.156}$, $[(NH_4)_2SO_4]^{0.745}$, $[H_2O_2]^{0.428}$.
