Seasonal Variation of Dietary Intake and Quality from 24 Hour Recall Survey in Adults Living in Yeonchon Area (연천 지역 성인의 계절별 영양소 및 식품섭취 비교 연구)

  • This study was conduced to investigate the seasonal variation of dietary intake and quality obtained by 24 hour recall method in Korean adults living in rural area. The mean daily intakes of 4 seasons were 1,692kcal for energy, 63g(14.8% of energy) for protein, 30g(15.7% of energy) for fat, 257g(60.7% of energy) for carbohydrate. Mean daily intakes were significantly highest in winter for most of the nutrients, and lower in summer for energy, fat, calcium, iron. Mena adequacy ratio(MAR), an index of overall nutritional quality was 0.65 in winter, 0.67 in spring, 0.65 in summer and 0.72 in autumn and nutrient adequacy ratio(NAR) was significantly different fro vitamin C agmong different seasons. Subjects consumed usually 15.3 different foods in winter, 14.5 in summer, 13.9 in spring and 13.7 in autumn. The number of food consumed was positively correlated with intake of most nutrients, especially in autumn. For variety among the five major food groups(grain, meat, dairy, fruit, vegetable) with a dietary diversity scores(DDS) calculated, the average socre of DDS was 3 in all seasons and omitted food groups were usually dariy and fruit. In conclusion, dietary intake and quality of Korean adults were different according to seasons.

  • In this study, the nutritional components (moisture, fat, protein, ash) value of military hardtack was collected and analyzed to control the mixing ratio of rice and flour. Hardtack from 4 factories was analyzed by 3 testing organizations certified by the Korean Ministry Food and Drug Safety. In addition, the accuracy and collaborative study possibility of each organization were evaluated in Q-test and HorRat. Also, other hardtack groups with different mixing ratios were compared to quality control of hardtack by I-MR charts. As a result, the HorRat and Q-test values of test organizations were 0.5-6.2 and 0.08-0.91, respectively. The quality of hardtack by the factories was similar. However, for accurate management of the mixing ratio, suggesting both upper and lower limit requirements of the nutritional components is necessary.

  • We performed comprehensive quality control for eddy-covariance measurements from 3 farmland sites and 1 industrial site adjacent to Nakdong river. The quality control program is based on Foken and Wichura (1996) and Vicker and Mahrt (1997) and we added criteria for trend and standard deviation for scalar variables and modified criteria for non-stationarity condition of Foken and Wichura (1996) to consider random error of fluxes. The classification of data quality is designed for the raw data and the processed flux data, separately. Use of added criteria efficiently reduces the number of outlier for water vapor and $CO_2$ fluxes and use of modified criteria for non-stationarity reduces the number of outlier for scalar fluxes and increases the number of data with accepted quality for further work. Energy balance ratio is higher in farmlands than industrial site, which is due to neglect of heat storage term in industrial site. Among farmland sites, C4 site shows higher energy balance ratio than other sites. This is due to more homogeneous surface of C4 site than other farmland sites. However, energy balance ratio is very low or even negative at night. Mismatch between the flux footprint and the other energy component footprint over the heterogeneous surface is main cause for energy imbalance at night. Other possible causes are also discussed.

  • Waste foundry sand of industrial waste which is happening by vast quantity according to fast development of industry has much the occurrence amount and processing method is depended on reclamation, and is using by fine aggregate for construction by recycling method among others. In this research Waste foundry sand powder into cement replace fare use possibility availability judge wish to Slump and air content decreased the replacement ratio increases by concrete special quality that do not harden according to experiment result, and unit capacity mass and bleeding increased the replacement ratio increases. Hardening concrete intensity special quality displayed strength improvement to replacement ratio 20%, and tendency that watertightness increases most in replacement ratio loft in watertight property appear. Considering the strength and watertight properties, the adequate usage of waste foundry sand powder is the 10% of replacement ratio.

Validation for SOC Estimation from OC and EC concentration in PM2.5 measured at Seoul (서울 대기 중 PM2.5 내 OC와 EC로부터 SOC 추정방법의 비교 평가)

  • The organic carbon in the ambient particulate matter (PM) is divided into primary organic carbon (POC) and secondary organic carbon (SOC) by their formation way. To regulate PM effectively, the estimation of the amount of POC and SOC separately is one of important consideration. Since SOC cannot be measured directly, previous studies have evaluated determination of SOC by the EC tracer method. The EC tracer method is a method of estimating the SOC value from calculating the POC by determining (OC/EC)pri which is the ratio of the measured values of OC and EC from the primary combustion source. In this study, three different ways were applied to OC and EC concentrations in PM2.5 measured at Seoul for determining (OC/EC)pri: 1) the minimum value of OC/EC ratio during the measurement period; 2) regression analysis of OC vs. EC to select the lower 5-20% OC/EC ratio; 3) determining the OC/EC ratio which has lowest correlation coefficient value (R2) between EC and SOC which is reported as minimum R squared method (MRS). Each (OC/EC)pri ratio of three ways are 0.35, 1.22, and 1.77, respectively from the 1 hourly data. We compared the (OC/EC)pri ratio from 1hourly data with 24 hourly data and revealed that (OC/EC)pri estimated from 24 hourly data had twice larger than 1hourly data due to the low time resolution of sampling. We finally confirmed that the most appropriate value of (OC/EC)pri is that calculated by a regression analysis of 1 hourly data and estimated SOC amounts at PM2.5 of the Seoul atmosphere.

Milling Characteristics of Milled Rice According to Milling Ratio of Friction and Abrasive Milling (마찰과 연삭 도정배분에 의한 쌀의 도정특성)

  • This study was performed to investigate the optimum abrasive and friction milling ratio. This was accomplished by determining changes in the quality, such as whiteness, moisture content, broken kernel, unstripped embryo rate, and surface characteristics or milling difference, during an abrasive and friction based milling process. When only abrasive was milled, the increase of whiteness was fast in the first milling, whereas the increasing rate of whiteness was small in the latter milling. The decreasing rate of moisture content and broken kernel increased as the friction milling ratio was increased. Combining with the friction milling was considered a suitable method because the unstripped embryo rate was high only when abrasive milling was used. In the case of a high abrasive milling ratio, a significant milling difference was observed in the initial milling. This indicated that the milling difference was not completely eliminated despite using friction milling in the latter milling. Consequently, it was necessary to minimize the milling difference in the initial milling. When milling quality was synthetically considered, the abrasive milling ratio was varied from 20~50%. When the abrasive milling ratio was greater than 40%, the external quality of the rice milled deteriorated since holes and defects generated on the surface in the initial milling were not removed. Due to this deterioration in surface characteristics, an abrasive milling ratio of 30% was identified as a suitable level.

Analysis of geological conditions and water bearing zones in front of tunnel face using TSP (TSP탐사를 이용한 터널 굴착면 전방 지질상태 및 함수대 분석)

  • To analyze the prediction of geological conditions and water-bearing zones, TSP was performed in the collapse zone of the fault zone. The results of the TSP were verified by comparing them to the face mapping results of the prediction zone. The rock quality prediction result of the TSP had an error of about 3 to 10 meters compared to the face mapping result, but the overall rock quality change and ground condition were analyzed to be relatively similar. In the water-bearing zones of the face mapping results, the Vp/Vs ratio ranges from 1.79 to 2.37 and the Poisson's ratio ranges from 0.27 to 0.39. In the sections other than the water-bearing zones, the Vp/Vs ratio ranges from 1.61 to 1.89, and the Poisson's ratio ranges from 0.19 to 0.3. As a result of analyzing the Vp/Vs ratio and Poisson's ratio in the water-bearing zones, it is analyzed that the sections with a Vp/Vs ratio of 2.0 or more and a Poisson's ratio of 0.3 or more have a high possibility of being water-bearing zones.

The Quality Characteristics of Rice-Corn Cakes (옥수수 가루를 첨가한 Rice-Corn Cakes의 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effects of adding corn flour on the quality of rice cakes. Rice-corn cakes were prepared by adding corn flour at 25%, 50% and 75%, and the quality characteristics were measured. In the expansion ratio, springiness and cohesiveness of rice-corn cakes, the 25% group(C-25) was the highest and the 75% group(C-75) was the lowest. The higher the ratio of adding corn flour was, the lower the expansion ratio, springiness and cohesiveness were. In the hardness and chewiness of rice-corn cakes, the 75 % group(C-75) was the highest and the 25% group(C-25) was the lowest. But in the taste, texture and overall acceptance of rice-corn cakes, the 50% group(C-50) was the best.

  • This study examines the foremost concerns related to most noted research performance index. The most popular and widely acceptable h-index underestimates the highly visible scientist, the middle order group, due to citation distribution issues. The study addresses this issue and uses 'Corrected Quality Ratio' (CQ) to check the implicit underpinnings as evident in h-index. CQ helps to incorporate the aspects of a good research performance indicator. This simple revision performs more intimately and logically to gauge the broader research impact for all groups and highly visible scientists with less statistical error.

  • Microwave dielectric properties of 0.15(B $a_{x}$S $r_{0.05}$)O-0.15(S $m_{2}$(1-y)N $d_{2y}$) $O_{3}$-0.7Ti $o_{2}$(x=o.9~0.1[mol.], y=6[m/o]) ceramics were investigated with BaO compositional ratio. Sintered density and resistivity of specimens were independent on the BaO compositional ratio. In the specimen with x=0.975[mol.], dielectric constant, quality factor and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency had good values of 76.52, 3001(at 3[GHz]) and +0.71[ppm/.ceg. C], respectively. By comparing with the stoichiometric compositions of 78.14, 2938(at 3[GHz])+14.19[ppm/.ceg. C], dielectric constant and quality factor showed similar properties, but the temperature coefficient of resonant frequency was highly improved. (author). refs., figs., tabs.s.s.
