Objectives: This study measures the level of cognition of employee's patient safety culture and evaluates the current level through comparing the results to external levels. Ultimately it is performed to construct a strategic improvement plan through the basic database for patient's safety culture. Methods: A questionnaire survey of self reporting type was carried out using structured questionnaire of the patient's safety culture for employees currently employed in a hospital. Total responders was 1,129 and a response rate was 54.6%. The survey results were calculated with a percent positive response, and the current level was evaluated by comparing with the survey results of a hospital (2009 and 2014) and the survey result of The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality(2014). Results: Sub-dimension of high percent positive response for each area were 'teamwork within hospital units' (80%), 'feedback & communication about error' (73%) and 'supervisor/manager expectations & actions promoting safety' (67%). Meanwhile, 'teamwork across hospital units' (31%), 'hospital management support for patient safety' (29%), 'staffing' (27%) and 'non-punitive response to error' (17%) were relatively low percent positive response. Compared to the survey results of AHRQ (2014) for each area, 'teamwork within hospital units' (80%), 'feedback & communication about error' (73%), 'frequency of event reporting' (66%) were at the top 50% percentile level and the remaining sub-dimensions showed a very low level in the lower 10% percentile area. Conclusion: In order to establish a system for patient safety culture within the hospital and evaluate the effect on this, it is necessary to periodically evaluate the patient's safety culture and establish regulations on hospital safety culture to comply with this.

This study shares details on the operating process and results of the cohort of students and graduates that was designed and implemented at Konyang University College of Medicine in Daejeon and discusses future directions for cohort establishment and improvement. First, Konyang University College of Medicine established the necessity and defined the purpose of cohort design and implementation. A task force was formed to establish guidelines for analysis targets, procedures, reports, and data management, and cohort operation was classified as a quality control activity. Data were collected through surveys of current students and graduates, and data generated during the curriculum were collected, analyzed, and reported every 2 years. The cohort data collection and analysis methods are designed by the Department of Medical Education, and data collection is carried out by the administrative team and each committee. Data management and analysis are handled by the Center for Medical Education Support, and analysis and reporting are conducted by the Department of Medical Education. Various members of the medical school are working to collect and analyze data, report findings, provide feedback, and improve. In the future, we plan to advance database computerization and work toward more effective data analysis. Cohort operation should not be another burden for medical schools; instead, it is hoped that operating cohorts will be a meaningful activity to increase the effectiveness of medical education and help in the operation and policy decisions of medical schools.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to, present basic data on the necessity of introducing assistant staff to support administrative tasks related to patient safety. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study. The participants (n=103) of this study were nurses, working at general and long-term care hospitals in Korea. Data were collected using structured questionnaires on August 29, 2019 and analyzed with SPSS 25.0. Specifically, data analysis was conducted using frequencies, mean and standard deviation, independent t-test, and X2-test. Results: Assistant staff was needed to support patient safety tasks, but this required nurses who could fully perform patient safety tasks by supplementing their work experience rather than employees who only support administrative tasks. This is because the hospital's patient safety management activities are difficult to distinguish between administrative tasks and patient safety tasks, and even nurses with five years of work experience, must be aware of the basic concepts and should have knowledge of patient safety and have gained experience in managing the patient safety activities. Conclusion: Hospitals are calling for an improvement in the system that increases the number of workers in charge of patient safety affairs and lowers their work experience, rather than the introduction of assistant staff who help with patient safety work.
This paper proposes a framework of engineering education for product development processes based on product data management (PDM) software and 3D printing. The PDM software supports the product development process-oriented educational coursework, collaborative team projects and project-based learning environment. The 3D printing supports the prototyping step in the product development process and helps participants consider physical realization of their designs during the product design and development phases. The framework was implemented in an introductory course for engineering students to product design and development, and author found that it is important to support rich communication among participants including lecturers, teaching assistants and students to enhance the quality of education and to overcome the burden of learning various computer-aided tools and 3D printing techniques needed for the framework.

Also, cryptographic module algorithm, latest security solutions and strong wireless security policy for network environment such as wireless communication Iinternet are require for Smart Grid perform successfully and protect national power network equipment from cyber-attack and can stop leakage of user's personal information. Finally, it is urgent to prepare protection measures of National industrial facilities and power grid which can prepare for a cyber terrorism and penetration attacks and build emergency countermeasure management team for Smart Grid are require for safe Smart Grid environment.
As mobile IP has been suggested only to support mobility of mobile station(MS) by which it dose nothing but guarantee MS's new connection to the network, it is for nothing in Quality of Service(QoS) after handoff of MS. QoS is very important factor in mobile IP network to provide multimedia applications and real-time services in mobile environment, and it is closely related to handoff delay Therefore as a main issue in mobile IP research area, handoff delay problem is actively studied to guarantee and promote QoS. In this paper, in order to resolve such a problem, we suggest Simple Network Management Network(SNMP) information-based routing that adds keyword management method to information-based routing in active network, and then propose QoS controlled handoff by SNMP information-based routing. After setting up routing convergence time, modeling of suggested method and existing handoff method is followed in order to evaluate the simulations that are carried out with NS-2. The result of simulation show the improvement of handoff delay, and consequently it turns off the QoS has been improved considerably.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify strategies to enhance the competencies of patient safety coordinators in Korea. Methods: Fourteen participants from nine hospitals were interviewed between May and November 2022. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the data. Results: As for the strategies to enhance patient safety management competency, 3 themes and 11 sub-themes were derived. The first theme was 'Having individual competence as a patient safety coordinator', and the sub-themes were 'Communication skills with members', 'Flexible thinking from multiple perspectives', and 'Preparing for administrative work competencies that they had not experienced as a nurse.' The second theme was 'Responding strategically to promote improvement activities', and the sub-themes for it were 'Multi-angle approach to the problem', 'A careful approach so as not to be taken as criticism in the field', 'Increasing the possibility of improvement activities through awareness', 'Activating the network between patient safety coordinators', and 'Expanding learning opportunities through patient safety case analysis.' The third theme was 'Obtaining support to facilitate patient safety activities', and the sub-themes for this were 'Improving staff awareness of patient safety', 'Providing a training course for nurse professional of patient safety', and 'Expanding the manpower allocation standard of patient safety coordinators.' Conclusion: This study explored personal competencies such as document writing and computer utilization capabilities, focused on ways to improve the field of patient safety management, and emphasized the need for organizational and political support.
The purpose of this study is to develop a management model to effectively provide hospice service of nursing home. In a method of study to achieve this purpose, a positive research and literature study have been performed at the same time. Concerning contents to be examined as a definition of notions and patterns about hospice for the aged, foreign hospice and structural elements of hospice management, a literature study to support a theoretical background has presented leading studies as an analysis form of this study through analyzing domestic and foreign literature, thesis, journal and so on. In order to attain the purpose of this study, the positive research is to carry out a survey of demand and desire of people who have already got hospice service in the first place as a fact-finding survey related to the subject of hospice service, investigate organizations to operate nursing home and hospice and relevant experts in the second place as a survey of supply system to provide hospice service, and develop an appropriate management model to connect the demand and supply of nursing home through it. Therefore, this study has developed a delivery system and a chart of the practical trend to be done minutely, presenting a model to manage a hospice of nursing home based on the above results. The management model externally has connected medical team of hospital with hospice team of home based on a community, and internally is composed centering on five elements such as administrative organization, manpower, program and contents of service, finances. In practical model of hospice management of nursing home, in order to plan a program, provide service and give a high-quality service to the aged, this study has presented a trend chart of service management on the basis of five structural elements, an analysis form of this study. In conclusion, this study could present data to develop a hospice in the field of nursing home for the aged by showing a model concerning a hospice management of nursing home, but in my opinion, a following study to be detailed and developed even more than this study should be continued.
Objectives: Promotion of food safety/eradicating adulterated food has been listed as one of the four major issues recently identified for action by the Korean government. Due to the related seriousness, the food industry has been encouraged to take steps to restore consumer confidence. In order to set guidelines for the creation of manuals for the response to a food safety crisis by the food industry, this study provided a suggested organization for a crisis response team and operating procedures for crisis response activities. Methods: The prototypes of an organizational structure and a set of standard procedures for a crisis response system were provided. Results: The results of the study suggested that a crisis response team should be comprised of four divisions of responsibility: information analysis, site response, communication and operational support. The organization chart and the role and functions for each division of the crisis response team should be indicated. Response activities will be more effective when the team features multi-disciplined staffing, such as public relations, food safety/technology/quality, sales/marketing, purchasing, production, distribution/logistics, regulatory affairs/legal, and consumer service specialists. This study created a flow chart for the total crisis response system, which included crisis and normal situations. A crisis response team should be continuously operated for both crisis and normal conditions. This study also suggested a scenario to explain the procedures for crisis response activities. Conclusion: In order to cope more effectively with a food safety crisis, the organizational structure and its functions should be defined clearly, and a detailed set of standard procedures for response activities should be offered.

Reduction mammaplasty is the gold standard treatment for gigantomastia. We report one female patient with juvenile gigantomastia associated with severe pulmonary hypertension where her pulmonary pressure decreased significantly after the surgery, improving her quality of life. A 22-year-old female patient with gigantomastia since 10 years old, tricuspid regurgitation, and pulmonary thromboembolism antecedent was admitted to the emergency department. Her oxygen saturation was 89%. Acute heart failure management was initiated. An echocardiogram reported left ventricle ejection fraction (LVEF) of 70% with severe right heart dilation, contractile dysfunction, and arterial pulmonary pressure (PASP) of 110 mm Hg. A multidisciplinary team considered gigantomastia could generate a restrictive pattern, so a Thorek reduction mammoplasty with Wise pattern was performed. Presurgical measurements were: sternal notch to nipple-areola complex, right 59 cm, left 56 cm. Three days after surgery, the patient could breathe without oxygen support. In the outpatient follow-up, patient referred reduction of her respiratory symptoms and marked improvement in her quality of life. Six months after surgery, a control echocardiogram showed a LVEF of 62% and PASP of 85 mm Hg. Pulmonary hypertension may be present in patients with gigantomastia. Reduction mammoplasty may be a feasible alternative to improve the cardiac signs and symptoms in patients with medical refractory management.
