Multicast Protocol for multimedia service on the Internet can be classified into two types, e.g., source based tree and shared tree according to difference of tree construction method. Shared tree based multicast is known to show outstanding results in the aspect of scalability than source based tree. Generally, There have been lots of researches on the method to satisfy QoS constraints through proper Rendezvous Point (RP) in the shared tree. In addition, as the multicast group members join and leave dynamically in the service time, RP of the shared tree should b be reselected for guranteeing Qos to new member, But, RP reselection method has not been considered generally as the solution to satisfy QoS C constraints. In this paper, new initial RP selection and RP reselection method are proposed, which utilize RTCP (Real Time Control Protocol) report packet fields. Proposed initial RP selection and RP reselection method use RTCP protocol which underlying multimedia application service So, the proposed method does not need any special process for collecting network information to calculate RP. New initial RP selection method s shows better performance than random and topology based one by 40-50% in simulation. Also, RP reselection method improves delay p performance by 50% after initial RP selection according to the member’s dynamicity.

Group multicast refers to the kind of multicast in which every member of a group is allowed to transmit data to the group. The goal of routing algorithms for group multicast is to construct a set of low cost multicast trees including all the group members with QoS (e.g., bandwidth) constraint. There have been several algorithms proposed: source tree and shared tree approaches. However, the latter approach has a low success rate in constructing a shared multicast tree, and the former approach suffers from high control overhead and low scalability as stoup size increases. In this paper, we present a heuristic algorithm which varies the number of multicast trees according to the network load. The simulation results show not only that our algorithm outperforms the shared tree approach in terms of the success rate, but also that it has lower control overhead than the source tree approach while guaranteeing the same success rate.
The QoS(Quality of Service) guarantee mechanism is one of critical issues in the wireless network. Real-time applications like VoIP(Voice over IP) in All-IP networks need smooth handoffs in order to minimize or eliminate packet loss as a Mobile Host(MH) transitions between network links. In this paper, we design a new multicasting algorithm using DB(Dynamic Buffering) mechanism for Mobile-IPv6. A key feature of the new protocol is the concepts of the DB and MRA(Multicast Routing Agent) to reduce delivery path length of the multicast datagram. Particularly, the number of tunneling and average routing length of datagram are reduced relatively, the multicast traffic load is also decreased.
We design a modified network architecture with condsidering current Internet network model and traffic characteristics, and propose EDCBT(Enhanced Dispersed Core-based Tree) multicast routing protocol, which enhances scalabity, reliability, end-to-end delay and resource utilization EDBCT adopts bidirectional dispersed shared trees and manages both of intradomain and interdomain multicast trees for a multicast group. Each regional multicast tree is estabilshed from its core router and they are interconnected by the operation between border routers on edges of each regional network. As a result, interdomain multicast tree can be easily established. We introduce a new concept named RBTS(Region-based Tree Switching), which dramatically enhances QoS and network utilization. Finally, protocol performance and the effect of core router location are evaluated with MIL3 OPNet network simulator, in terms of end-to-end delay, packet loss and throughput.

We design and implement explicit mobile multicast, named XMIP, by enhancing explicit multicast for a great number of small group multicast communications. XMIP is a straightforward multicast mechanism without maintaining multicast states due to the inheritance from the explicit multicast based on a unicast routing. This research modifies and extends the functionality of each mobility agent of IETF Mobile IP for interworking XMIP XMIP Packets captured by an extended home agent are forwarded to each extended foreign agent through nested tunnels, named X-in-X tunnels, made by the binding table of the extended home agent. X-in-X tunneling mechanism can effectively solve the serious traffic concentration problems of Mobile IP multicast specifications. Finally heterogeneous mobile networks as an XMIP testbed including CDMA2000 1X EV-DO and WLAN are actually established, and a multi-user instant messenger system for small group communications is developed for verifying the feasibility of the proposed protocols.

To provide multicasting service, several multicast protocols for mobile hosts have been proposed. But they include glitches such as a non-optimal delivery route, data loss when hosts move another network, therefore they have some insecure problems about multicast data transmission. In this paper, we consider these problems and propose a new reliable and efficient multicast routing protocol for Mobile If networks. The proposed protocol provides reliable multicast transmission by compensating data loss from the previous agent when a mobile host moves another network. Also it provides additional function that is directly to connect a multicast tree according to the status of agents. It provides more efficient and optimal multicast path. The performance of the proposed protocol is proved by simulation of various conditions.

Multicasting plays an important role in providing multimedia services like audio and video conferencing and has been actively studied for many years. The study of multicasting has been mainly focused on finding a low-cost tree on the assumption that every edge of the tree has enough link capacity to be allocated to the amound of bandwidth required by a service. In some cases, however, a multicasting tree whose some edges do not have enough bandwidth to be allocated may exist. A typical example of this case is to multicast among the group users located in the different sub-networks in the interconnected networks composed of the high bandwidth networks such as B-ISDN and the low bandwidth networks such as PSTN and PSDN. This paper proposes a novel multicasting protocol for providing multimedia services in a wide area network interconnected by multiple heterogeneous networks. First, the paper discusses the inherent limitation of present multicasting protocols for the case. Second, se introduce a new concept, multiple QoS's for a service, which extends the implicit assumption that only one QoS is assigned to a service in order to overcome this limitation. Third, our multicasting protocol is designed based on the current Internet protocol stacks. Last, we perform simulations for possible scenarios to provide multimedia services in the network and analyze their pros and cons.

Static wireless multi-hop networks, such as wireless mesh networks and wireless sensor networks have proliferated in recent years because of they are easy to deploy and have low installation cost. Two key measures are used to evaluate the performance of a multicast tree algorithm or protocol : end-to-end delay and the number of transmissions. End-to-end delay is the most important measure in terms of QoS because it affects the total throughput in wireless networks. Delay is similar to the hop count or path length from the source to each destination and is directly related to packet success ratio. In wireless networks, each node uses the air medium to transmit data, and thus, bandwidth consumption is related to the number of transmission nodes. A network has many transmitting nodes, which will cause many collisions and queues because of congestion. In this paper, we optimize two metrics through a guaranteed delay scheme. We provide an integer linear programming formulation to minimize the number of transmissions with a guaranteed hop count and preprocessing to solve the aforementioned problem. We extend this scheme not only with the guaranteed minimum hop count, but also with one or more guaranteed delay bounds to compromise two key metrics. We also provide an explanation of the proposed heuristic algorithm and show its performance and results.
IP is not suitable for mobile nodes by network-based routing because mobile nodes are dynamically change their network attachment point. Mobile-IP is an IETF standard providing continuous access to the Internet for mobile nodes, but it has the triangle routing problem. Also it has a performance degradation problem by massive packet loss during layer 3 handoff of mobile nodes. Especially, two IETF multicast support schemes for Mobile-IP do not guarantee the quality of realtime multimedia services because they have several problems such as long routing path, packet duplication(hi-directional tunneling) and massive packet loss(remote subscription). In this paper, we propose a lossless remote subscription scheme that guarantees the quality of realtime multimedia services over Mobile-IP. From the result of simulation, we verified that the proposed scheme in this paper can reduce the delay time of remote subscription by the effect of the low latency handoff scheme that is extended to apply to the multicast group management and it requires only 0.58% buffer spaces of the previously proposed lossless remote subscription scheme.

Data collection is an essential element in the construction and operation of a smart factory. The quality of data collection is greatly influenced by network conditions, and existing wireless network systems for IoT inevitably lose data due to wireless signal strength. This data loss has contributed to increased system instability due to misinformation based on incorrect data. In this study, I designed a distributed MQTT IoT smart sensor and gateway structure that supports wireless multicasting for smooth sensor data collection. Through this, it was possible to derive significant results in the service latency and data loss rate of packets even in a wireless environment, unlike the MQTT QoS-based system. Therefore, through this study, it will be possible to implement a data collection management system optimized for the domestic smart factory manufacturing environment that can prevent data loss and delay due to abnormal data generation and minimize the input of management personnel.
