This study deals with the flow of bed rock ground water of Banyaweol Formation, which is presently cleared up as a laminar flow. The result obtained may be summarized as the following. 1) The Banyaweol Formation consists mainly of thin-bedded, green to blackish green shale, mudstone, and marl. The marl and mudstone alternatively occur with shale. The marl and mudstone form a aquifer of Banyaweol Formation. In this study, a group of aquifer is in convenience named as a aquifer zone. The aquifer occurs in lenticular form. The aquifer seems to be a type of artesian aquifer because it is covered with aquicludes, but it actually forms a unconfined aquifer because its piezometric surface stays under the lower aquiclude. The lowering of piezometric level is formed because of leakage of the ground water to the lower aquifer undersaturated. 2) The coefficient of permeability of Banyaweol Formation's ground water body (K) is derived by using Dupuit's equation as the following ${\log}K=\frac{CK^2-dK+f}{aK-b}\;\(M=1.365(2H-s)s\\M={\log}1.956s{\sqrt{H}}r\)$ here, $$a=\sum_{1}M_iG_i$$$$b={\frac{1}{2}log{\sum_{i}}Q_i{^2}$$$$c=2{\sum_{i}}M_i{^2}$$$$d=loge{\sum_{i}}M_{i}Q_{i}+2{{\sum_{i}}N_{i}Q_{i}$$$$f=loge{\sum_{i}}Q_i{^2}N_i$$ If the measured values substituted for the above equation, the coefficient of permeability of the aquifer is 4.1m/day. The coefficient of storge of the aquifer is $2.8{\times}10^{-4}$ if the measured values substituted for Theis's equation. Using the above constants, the filtration velocity of the aquifer is $2.1{\times}1O^{-1}m/day$and the daily flow quantity of the ground water is $847.38m^{3}/day$. 3) In order to understand the time necessary for a circulation of ground water body, the contents of tritum contained in the ground water are measured as 2.3 T.U. at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute. Before 1952, the average concentration of tritium per year in groundwater was reported as 10T. u., taking it as the standard, the groundwater of the present study 26.25 years old. Therofore, the groundwater of the Banyaweol Formation is judged as an relatively old groundwater. It is characteristic that the ground water of Banyawol Formation is laminar flow as well as unconfined aquifer and ground water flow of relatively long time. 4) The nature, means of flow, and circulation of Banyaweol Formation's ground water body make it possible set up this ground water body as a ground water system.

The effects of sintering additives such as $Bi_2O_3$ and $V_2O_5$ on the microwave dielectric and sintering properties of (Zn, Mg)$TiO_3$ system were investigated. Highly dense samples were obtained for $(Zn_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})TiO_3$ at the sintering temperature range of $870{\sim}900^{\circ}C$ with $Bi_2O_3$ and $V_2O_5$ additions of <1wt.%, respectively. The microwave dielectric properties of $(Zn_{0.8}Mg_{0.2})TiO_3$ with 0.45 wt.% $Bi_2O_3$ and 0.55 wt.% $V_2O_5$ sintered at $900^{\circ}C$ were as follows: $Q{\times}f_o$=56,800 GHz, ${\varepsilon}_r$=22, and ${\tau}_f=-53ppm/^{\circ}C$. In order to improve temperature coefficient of resonant frequency, $TiO_2$ was added to the above system. The optimum amount of $TiO_2$ was 15 mol.% when sintered at $870^{\circ}C$, at which we could obtain following results: $Q{\times}f_o$ = 32,800 GHz, ${\varepsilon}_r$ = 26, and $\tau_f=0ppm/^{\circ}C$.

Optimal conditions for the production of natural color, betacyanin were investigated by varying light intensity, C/N ratio, concentrations of phosphate and kinds of elicitors. Batch cultivation was employed to characterize cell growth and betacyanin production of 32 days. The maximum specific growth rate, ${\mu}$$\sub$max/, was 0.3 (1/day) for batch cultivation. The maximum specific production rate, q$\^$max/$\sub$p/, was enhanced 0.11 (mg/g-cell/day) at 3 klux. A light intensity of 3 klux was shown to the best for both cell growth and betacyanin production. The maximum specific production rate was 0.125 (mg/g-cell/day) at 0.242 (1/day), the maximum specific growth rate. The dependence of specific growth rate on the light lintensity is fit to the photoinhibition model. The correlation between ${\mu}$ and q$\sub$p/ showed that the product formation parameters, ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$$\sub$p/ were 0.3756 (mg/cell) and 0.001 (mg/g-cell/day), respectively. The betacyanin production was partially cell growth related process, which is different from the production of a typical product in plant cell cultures. In C/N ratio experiment, high carbon concentration, 42.1 (w/w) improved cell growth rate while lower concentration, 31.6 (w/w) increased the betacyanin production rate. The ${\mu}$$\sub$max/ and q$\^$max/$\sub$p/ were 0.26 (1/day) and 0.075 (mg/g-cell/day), respectively. Beta vulgaris L. cells under 1.25 mM phosphate concentration produced 10.15 mg/L betacyanin with 13.46 (g-dry wt./L) of maximum cell density. The production of betacyanin was elongated by adding 0.1 ${\mu}$M of kinetin. This also increased the cell growth. Optimum culture conditions of light intensity, C/N, phosphate concentration were obtained as 5.5 klux, 27 (w/w), 1.25 mM, respectively by the response surface methodology. The maximum cell density, X$\sub$max/, and maximum production, P$\sub$max/, in optimized conditions were 16 (g-dry wt./L), 12.5 (mg/L) which were higher than 8 (g-dry wt./L), 4.48 (mg/L) in normal conditions. The ${\mu}$$\sub$max/ and q$\^$max/$\sub$p/ were 0.376 (1/day) and 0.134 (mg/g-cell/day) at the optimal condition. The overall results may be useful in scaling up hairy root cell culture system for commercial production of betacyanin.

Quinolone-resistant Salmonella strains were isolated from patient samples, and several quinolone-sensitive strains were used to analyze mutations in the quinolone resistance-determining region (QRDR) of gyrA, gyrB, parC, and parE and to screen for plasmid-mediated quinolone resistance. Among the 21 strains that showed resistance to nalidixic acid and ciprofloxacin (MIC 0.125-2.0 μg/ml), 17 strains had a mutation in QRDR codon 87 of gyrA, and 3 strains had a single mutation (Ser83 → Phe). Another cause of resistance, efflux pump regulation, was studied by examining the expression of acrB, ramA, marA, and soxS. Five strains, including Sal-KH1 and Sal-KH2, showed no increase in relative expression in an analysis using the qRT-PCR method (p < 0.05). In order to determine the genes involved in the resistance, the Sal-9 isolate that showed decreased susceptibility and did not contain a mutation in the gyrA QRDR was used to make the STM (MIC 8 μg/ml) and STH (MIC 16 μg/ml) ciprofloxacin-resistant mutants. The gyrA QRDR Asp87 → Gly mutation was identified in both the STM and STH mutants by mutation analysis. qRT-PCR analysis of the efflux transporter acrB of the AcrAB-TolC efflux system showed increased expression levels in both the STM (1.79-fold) and STH (2.0-fold) mutants. In addition, the expression of the transcriptional regulator marA was increased in both the STM (6.35-fold) and STH (21.73-fold) mutants. Moreover, the expression of soxS was increased in the STM (3.41-fold) and STH (10.05-fold) mutants (p < 0.05). Therefore, these results indicate that AcrAB-TolC efflux pump activity and the target site mutation in gyrA are involved in quinolone resistance.
An earth tube soil air heat exchange system was designed, installed and operated as a single pass heat exchanger to utilize the geothermal energy as an natural energy source. This study was undertaken to investigate the potential of the heating and cooling, energy gain, heat exchange efficiency and coefficient of performance of the system. The system consisted of 30m in length and 30cm in diameter polyethylene pipes buried 2m deep in soil. Maximum heating and cooling performance were 2.51㎾ and 1.26㎾ at the air mass rate of 21cmm. Energy gain and coefficient of performance were the function of temperature difference between outside air and soil temperature. They were expressed as Q=0.33$ imes$$Delta T_{max}$+0.134(㎾) for energy gain and COP=0.44$ imes$$Delta T_{max}$+0.178 for coefficient of performance with correlation factor of 0.95. The mean of heat exchange efficiencies was 85.6%.

The load frequency control(LFC) of power system is one of important subjects in view of system operation and control. That is, even though the rapid load disturbances are applied to the given power system, the stable and reliable power should be supplied to the users, converging unconditionally and rapidly the frequency deviations and the tie-line power flow ones of each area into allowable boundary limits. Nonetheless of such needs, if the internal parameter perturbation and the sudden load variation are given, the unstable phenomena of power systems can be often brought out because of the large frequency deviation and the unsuppressible power line one. So, an optimal modulation controller for UC of multi-area power system is designed by a recursive algorithm that determines the state weighting matrix Q of a linear quadratic performance criterion. The optimal modulation controller is based on optimal control and can obtain the exact dynamic response of the UC of multi-area power system in the time domain. The performances of the resultant optimal modulation control, that is, the steady-state deviations of frequency and tie-line power flow and the related dynamics, were investigated and analyzed in detail by being applied to the UC of multi-area power system in the perturbations of predetermined internal parameters. Through the simulation results tried variously in this paper for disturbance of stepwise load changes, the superiorities of the proposed optimal modulation controller in robustness and stability were proved.
The most energy-demanding step of wastewater treatment is the aeration-dependent elimination of organic carbon. Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) offer an alternative strategy in which carbon elimination is conducted by anaerobic microorganisms that transport respiratory electrons originating from carbon oxidation to an anode. Hence, chemical energy is directly transformed into electrical energy. In this study, the use and stability of barcode-containing exoelectrogenic model biofilms under non-axenic wastewater treatment conditions are described. Genomic barcodes were integrated in Shewanella oneidensis, Geobacter sulfurreducens, and G. metallireducens. These barcodes are unique for each strain and allow distinction between those cells and naturally occurring wild types as well as quantification of the amount of cells in a biofilm via multiplex qPCR. MFCs were pre-incubated with these three strains, and after 6 days the anodes were transferred into MFCs containing synthetic wastewater with 1% wastewater sludge. Over time, the system stabilized and the coulomb efficiency was constant. Overall, the initial synthetic biofilm community represented half of the anodic population at the end of the experimental timeline. The part of the community that contained a barcode was dominated by G. sulfurreducens cells (61.5%), while S. oneidensis and G. metallireducens cells comprised 10.5% and 17.9%, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to describe the stability of a synthetic exoelectrogenic consortium under non-axenic conditions. The observed stability offers new possibilities for the application of synthetic biofilms and synthetically engineered organisms fed with non-sterile waste streams.

According to increase of nonlinear power electronics equipment, active power filters have been researched and developed for many years to compensate harmonic disturbances and reactive power. However the commercial of active power filter is being proceeded slowly, because the cost of active power filter compared to the passive filter for harmonic and reactive power compensation is expensive. Especially, the use of DSP (Digital Signal Processing) chip, which is frequently used to control 3-phase active power filter, is a factor of increasing the cost of active power filters. On the other hand, the use of only analog controller makes the controller's circuits much more complicate and depreciates the flexibilities of controller. In this paper, a controller with low cost for 5[kVA] 3-phase active power filter system is designed. To reduce the expense of active filter system, the presented controller is composed of digital control part using Intel 80C196KC $\mu$P and analog control part using hysteresis controller for current control. Characteristic analysis of designed controller for active filter system is performed by computer simulation and compensating characteristics of the designed controller are verified by experiment.tegy can apply to the vector control, leading to better output torque capability in the ac motor drive system. This strategy is that in the overmodulation range, the d-axis output current is given a priority to regulate the flux well, instead the q-axis output curent is sacrificed. Therefore, the vector control even in the overmodulation PWM operation can be achieved well. For this purpose, the d-axis output voltage of a current controller to control the flux is conserved. the q-axis output voltage to control the torque is controlled to place the reference voltage vector on the hexagon boundary in case of the overmodulation. The validity of the proposed overall scheme is confirmed by simulation and experiments for a 22[kW] induction motor drive system.
A personal authentication system based on biosignals has received increasing attention due to its relatively high security as compared to traditional authentication systems based on a key and password. Electrocardiography (ECG) measured from the chest or wrist is one of the widely used biosignals to develop a personal authentication system. In this study, we investigated the feasibility of using similar ECG measured behind the ears to develop a personal authentication system. To this end, similar ECGs were measured from thirty subjects using a pair of three electrodes attached behind each of the ears during resting state during which the standard Lead-I ECG was also simultaneously measured from both wrists as baseline ECG. The three ECG components, Q, R, and S, were extracted for each subject as classification features, and authentication accuracy was estimated using support vector machine (SVM) based on a 5×5-fold cross-validation. The mean authentication accuracies of Lead I-ECG and similar ECG were 90.41 ± 8.26% and 81.15 ± 7.54%, respectively. Considering a chance level of 3.33% (=1/30), the mean authentication performance of similar ECG could demonstrate the feasibility of using similar ECG measured behind the ears on the development of a personal authentication system.
