충격완충체의 효과를 고려할 수 있는 운반용기의 파열낙하시험 유한요소해석 방법 (A mite Element Modeling for the Puncture Drop Test of a Cask with the Failure of Impact Limiter)

  • 방사성물질 운반용기는 가상 사고조건에서 구조적 건전성이 유지됨을 실험 및 수치해석을 통해 입증하여야 한다. 가상 사고조건에 포함되는 파열낙하 조건에 대한 기존 유한요소해석의 경우 충격완충체에서 재료의 파손이 발생하기 때문에 일반적으로 유한요소모델에서 이 부분을 무시하고 해석한다. 본 논문에서는 파열낙하 해석에서 충격완충체의 변형으로 인한 낙하에너지 흡수의 효과를 고려하기 위해 요소의 적분점에서 응력 이나 변형율이 재료의 파손 기준치에 도달하면 그 요소를 제거하는 방법을 제안한다. 본 해석방법의 효용성을 보이기 위해 한국원자력연구원에서 설계중인 핫셀 운반용기에 대해 파열낙하 해석을 수행하였으며, 요소제거 기법의 적용을 통해 낙하 에너지의 80% 정도가 충격완충체에서 흡수되는 것으로 계산되었다. 본 해석방법은 시험조건에 비해 보수성을 가지는 평가방법이며, 기존의 해석방법과 비교해 파열낙하 조건을 보다 근사적으로 해석할 수 있는 방법이다.

자유낙하충격조건에 있는 사용후핵연료 운반용기의 충격해석방법 연구 (Analysis Method on the Free Drop Impact Condition of Spent Nuclear Fuel Shipping Casks)

  • The package used to transport radioactive materials, which is called by cask, must be safe under normal and hypothetical accident conditions. These requirements for the cask design must be verified through test or finite element analysis. Since the cost for FE analysis is less than one for test. the verification by FE analysis is mainly used. But due to the complexity of mechanical behaviors. the results depends on how users apply the codes and it can cause severe errors during analysis. In this paper, finite element analysis is carried out for the 9 meters free drop and the puncture condition of the hypothetical accident conditions using LS-DYNA3D and ABAQUS/Explicit. We have investigated the analyzing technique for the free drop impact test of the cask and found several vulnerable cases to errors. The analyzed results were compared with each other. We have suggested a reliable and relatively simple analysis technique for the drop test of spent nuclear fuel casks.

전단농화유체가 함침된 Kevlar 직물의 방검 및 방침 특성 (Puncture and Cutting Resistance Characteristics of Shear Thickening Fluid Impregnated Kevlar Fabrics)

  • 칼이나 송곳 같이 날카로운 날이 있거나 같이 뽀족한 도구를 사용한 위협을 군인 뿐 아니라 경찰이나 경호원들에게 쉽게 일어날 수 있다. 이러한 위협으로부터 보호하기 위한 방호복의 소재의 적용하기 위해 방탄소재로 사용되는 Kevlar 직물을 사용하였으며 방검 및 방침 특성 향상을 위해 나노입자가 충진된 전단농화유체(Shear thickening fluid)를 함침하였다. National Institute of Justice 시험 격에 따라 송곳과 칼을 제작하여 낙하충격시험기를 사용한 방검 및 방침특성 평가시험을 수행하였다. 전단농화유체는 각각 100nm, 300nm, 500nm 기의 구형 나노 $SiO_2$ 입자를 충진시켜 제작하였으며 전단농화유체의 함침과 나노 입자의 크기가 갖는 방검 및 방침 특성에 대한 영향력을 평가하였다. STF를 함침한 Kevlar 직물은 송곳을 사용한 낙하충격시험에서는 미처리 직물에 비해 좀 더 높은 충격하중을 지지하며 견고히 송곳의 침투에 저항하는 우수한 방침 특성을 보여준 반면 칼을 사용한 방검시험에서는 효과를 보여주지 못하였다. 특히 전단농화유체를 구성하는 나노입자의 크기는 방침 특성을 결정하는 주요한 인자임을 확인하였다.

Mechanical Tenacity Analysis of Moisture Barrier Bags for Semiconductor Packages

  • We have been using Moisture Barrier Bags for dry packing of semiconductor packages to prevent moisture from absorbing during shipping. Moisture barrier bag material is required to be waterproof, vapor proof and offer superior ESD (Electro-static discharge) and EMI shielding. Also, the bag should be formed easily to the shape of products for vacuum packing while providing excellent puncture resistance and offer very low gas & moisture permeation. There are some problems like pinholes and punctured bags after sealing and before the surface mount process. This failure may easily result in package pop corn crack during board mounting. The bags should be developed to meet the requirements of excellent electrical and physical properties by means of optimization of their raw material composition and their thickness. This study investigates the performance of moisture barrier bags by characterization of their mechanical endurance, tensile strength and through thermal analysis. By this study, we arrived at a robust material composition (polyester/Aluminate) for better packing.

Structural Evaluation on the Impact of a Radioisotope Package

  • A package to transport high-level radioactive materials is required to withstand normal transport and hypothetical accident conditions pursuant to the IAEA and domestic regulations. The package should maintain the structural safety not to release radioactive material in any condition. The structural safety of the package has been evaluated by tests using proto-type or scaled-down models, however, the method by analysis is gradually utilized due to recent advancement of computers and computer codes. In this paper, to evaluate the structural safety of a radioisotope package of the KAERI, the three dimensional impact analyses under 9m free drop and 1m puncture were performed with an explicit finite-element code, the LS-DYNA3D code. The maximum stress intensity on each part was calculated and the structural safety of the package was evaluated in accordance with the regulations.

  • 원전에서 발생하는 건조폐수지를 함유한 고건전성용기(HIC, high integrity container)를 운반하기 위한 HIC 운반용기는 내용물의 높은 방사능으로 인하여 원자력법 및 IAEA의 안전수송규정의 B형 운반용기의 요건을 따라야 하고 정상운반 및 운반사고조건에 대하여 구조적 건전성을 유지하여야 한다. 운반용기는 최대손상을 야기하는 위치에서 단단한 바닥면 위로 9 m 높이에서의 자유낙하충격 및 연강봉 위로의 1 m 높이에서의 낙하충격을 견디어야 한다. HIC 운반용기의 개념설계를 위하여 9 m 자유낙하 및 1 m 파열조건에 대하여 ABAQUS 전산코드를 이용한 3차원동적 구조해석을 수행하고 건전성을 평가하였다.

  • A drop weight impact test was conducted in this study to analyze the mechanical and thermal properties caused by the changes in the ratio of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) to ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) laminations. The ratios of CFRP to EVA were changed from 10:0 (pure CFRP) to 9:1, 8:2, 6:4, and 5:5 by manufacturing five different types of samples, and at the same time, the mechanical/thermal properties were analyzed with thermo-graphic images. As the ratio of the CFRP lamination was increased, in which the energy absorbance is dispersed by the fibers, it was more likely for the brittle failure mode to occur. In the cases of Type 3 through Type 5, in which the role of the EVA sheet is more prominent because it absorbs the impact energy rather than dispersing it, a clear form of puncture failure mode was observed. Based on the above results, it was found that all the observation values decreased as the EVA lamination increased compared with the CFRP lamination. The EVA lamination was thus found to have a very important role in reducing the impact. However, the strain and temperature were inversely propositional.

경추 경막외강 확인법의 비교 연구 (Comparison of Methods to Confirm the Cervical Epidural Space)

  • Background: The loss of resistance (LOR) method is most commonly used to identify the epidural space. This method is thought to rely on the penetration of the ligamentum flavum. Unfortunately the exact morphology of the ligamentum flavum is variable at different vertebral levels. Especially, it has been pointed out that the lower cervical ligamentum flavum may be discontinuous in the midline in up to 50% of patients. Thus, the LOR method may be inaccurate to confirm the cervical epidural space. The aim of this study is to determine which method is the safest and most exact for confirming the cervical epidural space. Methods: 100 adult, chronic renal failure patients who were undergoing an arteriovenous bridge graft for hemodialysis at the upper arm under cervical epidural anesthesia were recruited for this study. During the cervical epidural puncture, we identified the cervical epidural space by subjectively feeling the resistance with using a finger just through the ligamentum flavum, and we also used the drip infusion method, the loss of resistance method using air, and the hanging drop method. By using 5 grades, we classified the extent of whether or not the techniques were effective. Results: Using the drip infusion method, we identify the epidural space in all the patients as +/++ grade. The catheter insertion method was also successful in identifying those epidural spaces over a ${\pm}$ grade. The pseudo LOR was over ${\pm}$ grade in 47 patients. Conclusions: The combined LOR/hanging drop with drip infusion method is useful for confirming the cervical epidural space.

환경미화원의 작업별 산업재해 발생형태에 관한 연구 (A Study on Types of Municipal Sanitation Workers' Occupational Accident by Work Type)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the characteristics of occupational accidents by work type among municipal sanitation workers. Methods: The original data of occupational accidents in 2009 by Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency were analyzed by frequency and percentage using the SAS Version 9.1. Results: The types of occupational accident were as follows: slips and trips, falls, musculoskeletal disorders, traffic accident, collision, amputation, cut & puncture, crush injuries, strenuous movement and drop/fly. Slips and trips occurred most frequently in domestic waste collection and street sweeping. The traffic accident showed the highest incidence in food waste collection. Falls occurred most frequently in recycling waste collection. Musculoskeletal disorders showed the highest incidence in large waste collection. Conclusion: Depending on the work type, types of occupational accident were different. The results of this study can provide the information for the development of the occupational accident prevention programs of municipal sanitation workers.

부추첨가 김치의 발효과정 중 chitinase 활성과 조직감 (Chitinase Activity and Textural Property of Leek Added Kimchi During Fermentation)

  • 김치재료들의 chitinase 활성을 측정하고, 부추의 첨가량을 달리한 김치를 제조하여 15$^{\circ}C$에서 9일간의 숙성과정 중 김치의 chitinase 활성과 조직감의 변화를 측정한 결과는 다음과 같았다. 김치의 주요 재료들은 쪽파(특히 잎부분)>마늘>부추>대파(특히 잎부분) 순으로 chitinase 활성을 나타내었다. 김치숙성 중의 chitinase 활성은 김치액이 김치조직 보다 월등히 높게 나타났으며 각 김치시료간의 효소활성 차이도 김치액에서 더 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 김치액에서의 chitinase 활성은 숙성이 진행됨에 따라 점차적으로 감소한 반면, 김치조직에서의 chitinase 활성은 숙성 3일 또는 5일까지 증가한 후 감소하였다. 그러나 김치조직과 김치액 모두에서 대조구보다 부추첨가구가 더 높은 chitinase 활성을 나타내었으며 부추첨가구에서는 부추첨가량이 증가할수록 높은 chitinase 활성을 보였다. 숙성이 진행됨에 따라 모든 시료구에서는 김치조직의 침투관통력은 감소하였으며 부추첨가량에 따른 차이는 미미하였으나 대조구가 숙성 전 기간동안 가장 낮은 침투관통력을 보였다. 이상의 결과를 종합해보면 부추첨가는 김치 숙성 중 부추의 chitinase 활성에 의해 새우젓 등의 키틴질을 분해하여 chitosan을 형성하므로서 김치의 조직을 향상시키는 것으로 생각된다.
