Prediction of Springback Shape in the Flange Forming (유한요소법을 이용한 박판 플랜지 형상 예측)

  • The stack, the core unit of the MCFC system, is composed of the three main parts which are the electrodes, the matrix keeping the electrolyte and the separator. Among these, the separator made of low carbon steel is manufactured by some sheet metal forming processes. The flatness of flange of the mask plate of the separator is crucial not only to enhance the stack performance but also to reduce the production cost. This study has focused on the enhancement of flatness of the mask plate flange by controlling some process parameters like the punch and die comer radii, the blank holding force, the friction coefficient and so on. The springback phenomenon occurring in the flange drawing process has been studied first using the finite element method (FEM) in order to understand what causes the springback. The distribution pattern of local longitudinal stress in the flanged part has been revealed very important in predicting the final shape of the flange. This fact has been backed up by the experimental results carried out with the developed test dies.

  • Manufacturing process for milli components has recently gained researcher's focus with the increasing tendency toward highly integrated and micro-scaled parts for electronic devices. The milli-components need more precise manufacturing process than the conventional manufacturing process since the parts require higher dimensional accuracy than the conventional ones. In order to enhance the forming accuracy and productivity, various forming procedures proposed and studied by many researchers. In this paper, forming analysis of milli-components has been studied with a new micro-former. In modeling of progressive dies, multi-stage forming sequence has been analyzed with finite element analysis by LS-DYNA3D. The analysis proposes the sequential die and part shapes with the corresponding punch force and dimensional accuracy. The analysis also considers the effect of elastic dies on the dimensional accuracy of the formed parts. The analysis result demonstrates that the elastic analysis in the milli-forming process is indispensable for accurate forming analysis. The analysis procedure in the paper will provide good information in design of a new micro-former and milli-component

Finite Element Analysis and Its Verification of Springback in L-bending to Evaluate the Effect of Process Design Parameters (L-벤딩에서 공정 설계변수가 스프링백에 미치는 영향의 평가를 위한 유한요소해석 및 검증)

  • A parametric study was conducted on the effects of five fundamental design parameters on springback, including die clearance, step height, step width, punch radius, and taper relief in an L-bending process, controlled by the compression force. The experiment was also conducted to verify the usefulness of the parametric study procedure for process design, as well as the finite element predictions. The elastoplastic finite element method was utilized. The L-bending process of the york product, which is a key part of the breaker mechanism, was employed. The deformation of the material was assumed to be due to plane strain. Five samples of each design parameter were selected based on experiences in terms of process design. The finite element predictions were analyzed in detail to show a shortcut towards the process design improvement which can replace the traditional process design procedure relying on trial-and-errors. The improved process design was verified to meet all the requirements and the predictions and experiments were in good agreement.

A Study on the Effect of V-Ring Pressure and Clearance on the Die Roll Height Through the Fine Blanking (파인블랭킹 공정에서 V-링 압력과 클리어런스가 다이 롤 높이에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Minimizing the height of the die roll is very important for maximizing the size of effective shear planes. In this study, the die roll change was investigated for the change in the amounts and clearance of the V-ring indentation. Shear analysis and experiments were conducted with the V-ring distance fixed to 2mm. Fine blanking die was applied to the die insert with different clearances. Several specimens were analyzed about the height of the die roll. As a result, the pressure of V-ring effectively inhibited the flow of materials. And the height of the die roll was lowest when the clearance between the die and punch was 1% of the material thickness.

Determination of Flow Stress of Zircaloy-4 Under High Strain Rate Using Slot Milling Test (슬롯밀링시험을 이용한 높은 변형률 속도 조건하에서 Zircaloy-4의 유동응력 결정)

  • The flow stress of zircaloy-4 used in the spacer grid supporting a nuclear fuel rod was determined by the Johnson-Cook model, and model parameters were determined using reverse engineering. Parameters such as A, B, n and $\dot{\varepsilon}_0$ were determined by the tensile test result. To obtain the parameters C and m, a slot milling test and numerical simulation were performed. The objective functions were defined as the difference between the experimental and the simulation results, and then, the parameters were determined by minimizing the objective function. To verify the validity of the determined parameters, cross-verification for each case was conducted through a shearing test and simulation. The results tend to show agreement with the experimental results, such as the features of sheared edges and maximum punch force, with the correlation coefficients exceeding at least 0.97.

Rheological Properties of Heat-Induced Gels of Surimi from Acid and Alkali Process (산 및 알칼리 공정으로 조제한 수리미 가열 겔의 물성 특성)

  • Rhtological properties of surimi gel from white fishes by acid (acid surimi) and alkali (alkali surmi) process and effect of chemicals on gelation were investigated by punch and dynamic tests. The breaking force and deformation values of heat-induced gel of acid surimi were less than their values of alkali and conventional surimi gel, and whiteness was greatly decreased, Gel point of acid surimi was decreased but it of alkali surimi was increased with increasing moisture content in the range of 80 to $85\%$. Storage modulus of acid surimi was the highest vaule in pH 6.8, but that of alkali surimi showed high value at neutral and slightly alkali pH. Propylene glycol increased storage modulus in $20\~50^{\circ}C$, hut urea and 2-mercaptoethanol suppressed it. Potassium bromide improved storage modulus in $20~80^{\circ}C$, The results suggest that alkai process is used for making surimi instead of conventional method.
