Basic performance analysis of ocean thermal energy conversion using the refrigerant mixture R32/R152a (R32/R152a 혼합냉매를 적용한 해양온도차발전의 기초성능해석)

  • In this paper, performance characteristics of cycles were studied when mixed working fluid was used for ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC). Among the various mixed refrigerants for industrial heat-pump, R32/R152a used in ocean thermal energy conversion system. For simulations, R32/R152a were used in existing closed cycle and Kalina cycle which is used only ammonia and water as mixed refrigerant. Temperature of the warm heat source was 26 and 29 celsius degree, temperature of the cold heat source was 5 celsius degree. In results of simulation, Gross power of the closed cycle on R32 was 22kW, and efficiency of the cycle was 2.02%. When the mixed refrigerant of R32/R152a, in the ratio of 90 to 10, gross power of the closed cycle was 29.93kW, and efficiency of the cycle was 2.78%. Gross power and cycle efficiency of R32/R152a increased by 36% and 37% than those of existing single refrigerant. Additionally, the same simulations were conducted in Kalina cycle with the same various composition ratio of mixed refrigerant.

  • In an effort to obtain high efficiency in air cooled absorption heat pump, a new working fluid has developed with the addition of $LiNO_3$ and LiCl to the conventional solution of $LiBr-H_2O$. The solubility and vapor pressure of the multicomponent salts solution developed in this work were measured and compared with the results of $LiBr-H_2O$ solution. It was observed that there exists an optimal molar ratio of the inorganic salts in terms of solubility. The molar ratio of LiBr, $LiNO_3$ and LiCl was found to be about 5:1 in the $LiBr-LiNO_3$ mixture, and in the case of $LiBr-LiNO_3-LiCl$ mixture, the molar ratio of LiBr, $LiNO_3$ and LiCl was found to be around 5:1:2. The vapor pressure of the multicomponent salts solution of the optimal molar ratio was increased with adding $LiNO_3$, while decreased with adding LiCl.

A Study on the Diffuser Inlet Shape of Thermocompressor for MED Desalination Plant (다중효용 담수설비용 열압축기의 디퓨져 입구부 형상에 관한 연구)

  • A thermocompressor is the equipment which compresses a vapor to a desired discharge pressure. Since it was first used as the evacuation pump for a surface condenser, it has been widely adopted for energy saving systems due to its high working confidence. In the present study, the geometrical analysis of the shape between the jet nozzle and the diffuser inlet, the drag force was calculated by means of the integrated equation of motion and the computational fluid dynamic (CFD) package called FLUENT. The computer simulations were performed to investigate the effects by the various suction flow rates, the distance from jet nozzle outlet to the diffuser inlet and the dimensions of the diffuser inlet section through the iterative calculation. In addition, the results from the CFD analysis on the thermocompressor and the experiments were compared for the verification of the CFD results. In the case of a jet nozzle, the results from the CFD analysis showed a good agreement with the experimental results. Furthermore, in this study, a special attention was paid on the performance of the thermocompressor by varying the diffuser convergence angle of $0.0^{\circ}$, $0.5^{\circ}$, $1.0^{\circ}$, $2.0^{\circ}$, $3.5^{\circ}$ and $4.5^{\circ}$. With the increase of the diffuser convergence angle. the suction capacity was improved up to the degree of $1.0^{\circ}$ while it was decreased over the degree of $1.0^{\circ}$.

  • 1. Introduction Community medicine with the concept of comprehensive medical care and an ideal medical care delivery system not only for an individual or family but for the whole community has emerged. In April 1970, the Presbyterian Medical Center started a hospital based community health service project in order to improve the health of the people in rural areas. Prior to commencing a comprehensive medical care system, a family survey was needed. The major objective of this survey was to obtain information concerning the people and their environment so as to be able to plan and implement a comprehensive medical care program in Soyang-Myun. 2. Survey Method An interview using a family record form was carried out for each household. This family record form was designed to get information about demography, family planning, environmental sanitation and vital statistics. Prior to beginning, the members of the survey team were trained in interviewing techniques for three days. The team consisted of a public health nurse, four nurse-aides, a sanitarian and four health extension workers who are working in our project, The survey was carried out during the period November 1971 to March 1972. 3. Project area 1) Population of Soyang-Myun was 11,668; male, 5,962 and female, 5,706.
