Optimum Angle between Pump Beam and Probe Beam in the Differential-Velocity-Selective Saturation Absorption Spectroscopy (차동속도선택 포화흡수분광법에서 펌프광과 조사광의 최적 각도)

  • Exponential decrease of saturation absorption signal was reported in pump beam spacially keeping off from probe beam. Optimum angle between pump beam and probe beam in the differential-velocity-selective saturation absorption spectroscopy was computed theoretically, $1.33^{\circ}$ in cesium atoms and $1.08^{\circ}$ in Rb 87 atoms, and was good agreement with the experimental results.

  • The mirage technique is proved to be powerful in measuring the thermal diffusivity of materials. In particular, its contactless nature makes it suitable for delicate samples and microscale structures. In this study, thermal-wave-coupling method is developed in a general form for both thermally thin and thick samples. In the suggested measuring scheme, the probe beam can be positioned close to the pump beam and the absolute position need not be measured. Therefore the new scheme provides a relatively simple yet effective way to determine the thermal diffusivity of thermally thick samples. Thermal diffusivities of bulk samples like Ni and Al were measured and the characteristics of mirage signal for a thin film were observed by using the mirage experimental setup. The apparent thermal diffusivity was measured by varying such parameters as probe beam height, size of pump beam, power of pump beam, and surface condition of sample. From the practical standpoint, it is shown that the size of the pump beam is the most important factor for accurate thermaldiffusivity measurement. Experiments using thin-film samples show that the thermal diffusivity of a substrate covered with thin film can be measured by photothermal mirage signals.

Photoinduced Anisotropy and Reorientation of Anisotropic Axis in Amorphous $As_2S_3$ Thin Film (비정질 $As_2S_3$ 박막의 광유도 비등방성과 비등방축의 가역성)

  • Photoinduced anisotropy (PIA) in amorphous As2S3 (a-As2S3 ) thin film, deposited by vacuum evaporation, is investigated. PIA is induced by linearly polarized Ar+ laser beam (λ=514.5nm) and probed by weak Ar+ laser (λ=514.5nm) and He-Ne laser (λ=632.8nm) beam through the crossed analyzer. Keeping pump beam intensity constantly, rotation of pump beam polarization direction induces reorientation phenomina of anisotropic axis. Introducing directional factor into simplified 3-level system, which is used to analyze photodarkening phenomina, an analytical expression of PIA is derived. Temporal behavior of PIAand its reorientation phenomina are investigated andcompared with theory. In the experiment pump beam intensity is 100mW/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and thickness of a-As2S3 thin film is 3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. In those condition, time constant of photoinduced anisotropy obtained by method of least square curve fitting is 4.0$\times$10-2sec-1. The time constant of PIA we obtained is larger than that of photodarkening, 2.8$\times$10-2sec-1.

Dynamics of All-Optical Switching in Bacteriorhodopsin and its Application to Optical Computing

  • All-optical switching has been demonstrated in bacteriorhodopsin (bR) based on nonlinear intensity induced excited state absorption. The transmission of a cw probe laser beam at 410 nm corresponding to the peak absorption of M state through a bR film is switched by a pulsed pump laser beam at 570 nm that corresponds to the maximum initial 8 state absorption. The switching characteristics have been analyzed using the rate equation approach considering all the six intermediate states (B, K, L, M, N and 0) in the bR photocycle. The switching characteristics are shown to be sensitive to life time of the M state, absorption cross-section of the 8 state at probe wavelength ($\sigma$ $\_$Bp/) and peak pump intensity. It has been shown that the probe laser beam can be completely switched off (100 % modulation) by the pump laser beam at relatively low pump powers, for $\sigma$$\_$Bp/ = O. The switching characteristics have been used to design all-optical NOT, OR, AND and the universal NOR and NAND logic gates for optical computing with two pulsed pump laser beams.

  • It is not efficient and scarcely out of the question to use commercial expensive electron beam lithography system widely used for semiconductor fabrication process for the manufacturing application field of various devices in the small business scope. Then scanning electron microscope based electron beam machining system is maybe regarded as a powerful model can be used for it simply. To get a complete suite of thus proper system, proper chamber with high vacuum condition is necessarily required more than anything else to modify scanning electron microscope. In this study, special chamber unit using rotary pump and diffusion pump to obtain high vacuum degree was designed and manufactured and various evaluation tests fur recognize the vacuum characteristic were accomplished.

Numerical Research on Suppression of Thermally Induced Wavefront Distortion of Solid-state Laser Based on Neural Network

  • To account for the internal thermal effects of solid-state lasers, a method using a back propagation (BP) neural network integrated with a particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm is developed, which is a new wavefront distortion correction technique. In particular, by using a slab laser model, a series of fiber pumped sources are employed to form a controlled array to pump the gain medium, allowing the internal temperature field of the gain medium to be designed by altering the power of each pump source. Furthermore, the BP artificial neural network is employed to construct a nonlinear mapping relationship between the power matrix of the pump array and the thermally induced wavefront aberration. Lastly, the suppression of thermally induced wavefront distortion can be achieved by changing the power matrix of the pump array and obtaining the optimal pump light intensity distribution combined using the PSO algorithm. The minimal beam quality β can be obtained by optimally distributing the pumping light. Compared with the method of designing uniform pumping light into the gain medium, the theoretically computed single pass beam quality β value is optimized from 5.34 to 1.28. In this numerical analysis, experiments are conducted to validate the relationship between the thermally generated wavefront and certain pumping light distributions.

  • An intermodal switch based on optically-induced (through optical Kerr effect) periodic coupling in a two-mode waveguide is described and demonstrated. A high power pump beam injected into the two modes of the waveguide produced a periodic modulation of the refractive index profile with a period of modal beat length. this causes an intermodal coupling of the prove beam. The operating principle was successfully demonstrated in an elliptical core two-mode fiber with a counter-propagating pump-probe scheme.

  • This paper introduces a novel scheme for determining the thermal diffusivity of solids using the photothermal mirage technique. The suggested scheme extends the thermal-wave coupling method, employing the solution to the heat conduction equation in close proximity to the pump beam. Therefore, determination of thermal diffusivity is possible by detecting the mirage signal with small separation between the probe and pump beams, with enhanced intensity of the mirage signal. Though the method requires information about the probe-beam height, the absolute transverse position of the probe beam need not be known as it is automatically evaluated by the iterative-computation procedure. The thermal diffusivity of Ni is measured by the proposed scheme and the result demonstrates good agreement with the literature value to within 5 %.

  • A new method of measuring the thermal diffusivity of solid material at room temperature with photothermal displacement method is proposed. The influence of the parameters on phase lag was studied. From the minimum position of phase of measured deflection with respect to the pump beam the thermal diffusivity of the materials can be obtained. The minimum position of phase is determined using multiparameter least-square regression fitting. The experimental values for different samples obtained by applying new method are in good agreement with the literature values.

  • 진공기술의 응용과 진공환경의 이용은 더 이상 논하지 않더라도 산업 전반에 그 충요성이 점점 더 커가고 있다. 이러한 여건에도 불구하고 진공율 이용하는 system 개밟의 국산화는 수 입하는 system으$\mid$ 수에 비하여 절대적으로 부족하며, 또한 개발하는 system의 자동화는 거의 이 루어지지 않고 있으며, 자동화된 진공판련 system은 거의 대부분 수입에 의흔하고 있다. 실험 실 규모에서부터 System올 하나하나 개밭하고, 이톨 자동화하는 노력과 일이 진행됨다면 산업 응용에 있어서도 자연스럽게 자동화된 system으$\mid$ 개발이 이루어 질 것이다 .. system 자동화는 상 품수명의 단축과 이에 따른 다품종 소량을 요구하는 시장수요에 대응하고, 인력절감과 고풀짙 화로 생산성 향상의 요구에 대응하기 위하여 필요하다. 본 연 구에 서 는 e-beam evaporator로 evaporation하면 서 ion beam으로 assist하여 thin film율 제 작하는 IBAD vacuum system율 싫 계 및 제 작하고[1,2], PLC[3,떼톨 이 용하여 system 자동화톨 하였다 .. thin film 제작 process는 먼저 기본 진공상태로 만뚫고 난 뒤, e-beam evaporator로 e evaporation하면서 ion beam source로 assist하여 substrate 011 thin film율 제조한다 226;. thin film올 제 조하면서 thickness monitor로 sample의 thickness rate톨 control 하고, sample의 균얼성과 밀착 성을 고려하여 substrate톨 rotation 및 heating 할 수 있도록 싫계, 제작하였다. 양질의 박막올 제조하기 위해서 진공환경이 좋은 상태로 제공되어야 한다. 이톨 위하여 oil free operation 0 I 가 능한 dry pump와 turbo molecular pump로 고진공 배기 하였다. 진공도의 흑점은 thermal effect 툴 고려하여 cold cathode ion gauge률 사용하였고, intro chamber와 main chamber 사이에는 g gate valve톨 설치하여 벌도로 운용되도록 하였다. 이러한 process를 박막의 두께, 진공도, 시 간, 온도, 공정 동의 조건올 기훈으로 자동화한 것이다. 또한 정전과 단수에 대한 interlock 기능 도 고려하였다.하였다.
