  • Objectives : In the study on the waveform analysis of radial artery pulse diagnosis, we need to establish fundamentals of contemporary pulse diagnosis research. To achieve certain experimental basis on traditional pulse diagnosis, we have to research the differences of pulse waveform according to pressure (in 5 level) and position (Chon, Gwan, Cheok in radial artery). As a first step, in present thesis, we tried to find the differences of pulse waveform according to pressure. Methods and Results : In this research, we analyzed seven parameters of the waveform at five levels of pressure. The parameters are E(so called 'energy', a representative of pulse strength), h1(height of percussion wave) and h2(height of subincisura). The results were as follows. 1. When we analyzed the change of the waveform according to pressure in the left Gwan, E, hl, h2 and A differed between 1st and 2nd grade, between 1st and 3rd grade, between 1st and 4th grade, between 1st and 5th grade, between 2nd and 3rd grade, between 2nd and 5th grade, between 3rd and 5th grade and between 4th and 5th grade in 95% confidence interval. 2. And t2, t4 differed between 1st and 2nd grade, between 1st and 5th grade, between 2nd and 4th grade, between 2nd and 4th grade, between 2nd and 5th grade, between 3rd and 4th grade, between 3rd and 5th grade and between 4th and 5th grade in 95% confidence interval. 3. W differed between 1st and 3rd grade, between 1st and 4th grade, between 2nd and 3rd grade, between 2nd and 4th grade, between 2nd and 5th grade, between 3rd and 4th grade, between 3rd and 5th grade, and between 4th and 5th grade in 95% confidence interval. 4. And h2/h1 differed between 1st and 4th grade, between 1st and 5th grade, between 2nd and 4th grade, between 2nd and 5th grade, between 3rd and 4th grade & between 3rd and 5th grade in 95% confidence interval. 5. There were differences between 1st and 2nd grade & between 2nd and 5th grade in the case of t4/t2 in 95% confidence interval. And there were differences between 1st and 5th grade, between 3rd and 4th grade, between 3rd and 5th grade & between 4th and 5th grade in the case of W/A in 95% confidence interval. And were differences between 1st and 2nd grade, between 2nd and 3rd grade, between 2nd and 4th grade, between 3rd and 4th grade, between 3rd and 5th grade & between 4th and 5th grade in the case of A/E in 95% confidence interval. • Pulse oximetry has gained wide spread clinical acceptance in the latter part of the 21st century. The principle of pulse oximetry is based on the red and infrared light absorption features and uses a light emitter with red and infrared LEDs that shines through a reasonably translucent site with good blood flow. There are two methods of sending light through the measuring site : transmission and reflectance. After the transmitted red and infrared signals pass through the measuring site and received at the photodetector, the red/infrared ratio is calculated. But, pulse of oximeters are so sensitive that they may detect pulses when pressure is too low to provide adequate tissue blood flow, that is, SpO2 may decrease due to O2 consumption by the finger of the pulsing but stagnant arterial blood at low pressure or with vasoconstriction. This project has the limitations of pulse oximetry. Therefore, this paper is focused on the resuction of motion artifact that caused by moving when someone measures with SpO2 system.

  • A free piston and free displacer (FPFD) Stirling cryocooler and inertance pulse tube cryocooler for the cooling infrared detector and cryosensor are currently under development at Korea Institute of Machinery & Materials. The pulse tube cryocooler, which has no moving parts at its cold section, is attractive for obtaining higher reliability, simpler construction and lower vibration than in any other small cryocoolers. In recent years, pulse tube cryocoolers have experienced a rapid development with the aim to eventually replace Stirling and Gifford-McMahon cryocoolers in various applications. In this study, operating characteristics of the conventional linear Stirling cryocooler was investigated by experiment. And, inertance pulse tube cryocooler with the commercial linear compressor(Leybold Polar) was designed, manufactured, and tested by the variations of the operating frequency, charging pressure and input power.

  • In the bench scale test unit consisting of four commercial filter elements, the traces of the transient pressure around the nozzle and overpressure in the filter cavity were measured to estimate the effect of nozzle on pulse cleaning. For the given pulse cleaning system, the convergent nozzle displayed better performance than the straight one. The optimum ratio of outlet to inside diameter of convergent nozzle was determined, which minimized the pulse gas consumption and maximized the entrainment effect. The angle and height of nozzle convergent part was also optimum operational condition, which is meaningful to the industrial applying.

  • This paper presents a bidirectional pulse power electrochemical etching system for groove manufacturing of the dynamic bearings. To manufacture the dynamic bearing for the groove, it is very important to consider the depth and roughness. If the precision of the groove is not exact, we can not get the desirable performance for the target of the dynamic bearing. To make the groove of bearing precise, we propose the method of electrochemical etching system. In order to design the depth and roughness exactly, the bidirectional pulse power converter is proposed. With the bidirectional pulse power converter, we obtain the condition and the parameters of converter such as frequency, duty ratio, time, temperature, velocity, pressure and so on. In this paper, we get the experimental results to verify the precise groove manufacturing.

  • By way of driving a 2-way on/off solenoid hydraulic valve with a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal, control of the pressure in a certain volume is frequently used in various applications. However, the pressure built-up according to the duty ratio and carrier frequency of the PWM signal is not so well understood. In order to clarify the characteristics of 2-way valve hydraulic pressure control systems, in this paper two formula fur the mean and ripple of the load pressure were derived through theoretical analysis. And the accuracy of the derived formula were verified by comparison with the experimental test result. Generally 2-way valve systems are constructed as a bleed-off circuit, while 3-way valves are used as a control element in a meter-in circuit pressure control system. In a bleed-off circuit, the system supply pressure from a hydraulic power pack does not remain constant, but changes according to their external load. In turn, the relief valve in the hydraulic power pack reacts accordingly showing complicated dynamic behavior, which makes an analytical study difficult. In order to resolve the problem, simple but accurate empirical dynamic models fer a bleed-off system were used in the course of formula derivation. As the result, selection criteria for two major control parameters of the driving signal is established and the basic strategy to suppress the unnecessary pressure fluctuation can be provided for a hydraulic pressure control system using a 2-way on/off solenoid valve.

  • The blood pressure measurement is calculated as a value corresponding to the pressure of the blood vessel using the pressure from the outside for a long time. Due to the recent miniaturization of measurement equipment and the ICT combination of personal healthcare systems, a system that enables continuous and real-time measurement of blood pressure with a sensor is required. In this study, blood pressure was measured using pulse transit time using Photoplethysmography. In this study, blood pressure was estimated by using systolic blood pressure. And it is possible to make measurement only with PPG itself, which can contribute to making a micro blood pressure measuring device. As a result, systolic blood pressure and PPG's S1-P and P-S2 were used to analyze the possibility of blood pressure estimation.

  • The effects of initial concentration and pulsed pressurization on the inactivation of Clostridium sporogenes spores suspended in deionized water were determined during thermal processing $(TP;\;105^{\circ}C,\;0.1MPa)$ and pressure-assisted thermal processing $(PATP;\;105^{\circ}C\;and\;700MPa)$ treatments for 40 min and 5min holding times, respectively. Different inoculum levels $(10^4,\;10^6\;and\;10^8CFU/ml)$ of C. sporogenes spores suspended in deionized water were treated at $105^{\circ}C$ under 700MPa with single, double, and triple pulses. Thermally treated samples served as control. No statistical significances (p>0.05) were observed among all different inoculum levels during the thermal treatment, whereas the inactivation rates $(k_1\;and\;k_2)$ were decreased with increasing the initial concentrations of C. sporogenes spores during the PATP treatments. Double- and triple-pulsed pressurization reduced more effectively the number of C. sporogenes spores than single-pulse pressurization. The study shows that the spore clumps formed during the PATP may lead to an increase in pressure-thermal resistance, and multiple-pulsed pressurization can be more effective in inactivating bacterial spores. The results provide an interesting insight on the spore inactivation mechanisms with regard to inoculum level and pulsed pressurization.

  • Purpose: To determine the effects of hand massage on nausea and vomiting, and anxiety in children with Iymphocytic leukemia receiving high dose chemotherapy. Method: The children were assigned to an experimental group(15) or a control group(15). All of the children were diagnosed with acute Iymphocytic leukemia and admitted for high dose chemotherapy at C University Medical Center in Seoul. The hand massage was performed for 10 minutes twice a day over three days. To measure the effects of hand massage, the Index of Nausea and Vomiting by Rhodes et al. and the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for children by Spielberger were used. The level of anxiety was measured by systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and pulse rate. Results: The score for nausea and vomiting decreased in the experimental group. State anxiety for the experimental group was significantly more positive than for the control group at the 2nd measurement. There was a significant difference in systolic blood pressure between the two groups. The level of diastolic blood pressure in the two groups decreased significantly over time. Conclusion: Hand massage could be effective in decreasing nausea and vomiting, state anxiety, pulse rate and blood pressure in children with acute leukemia receiving high dose chemotherapy.

  • MPW(Magnetic Pulse Welding) is a technologies for welding of metals by means of repulsive force on account of the interaction between electro-magnetic field of coil and current induced in outer pipe. These MPW is one of the most useful welding process of welding ability of the dissimilar metal in which cylindrical materials, such as pipe, tube. As the quality of a weld joint is strongly influenced by process parameters during the welding process and the success of the welding to evaluated according to the leakage pressure. Generally, the process parameters is magnetic pressure, the gap between outer pipe and inner pipe, and the ratio of thickness to diameter of pipe(D/T) in MPW. Therefore, the goal of this study was to explain the effect of parameters on the weld joint leakage pressure. For these purposes, FFD(Fractional Factorial Design) were used for the experiment. The measured data were analyzed by regression analysis and verification experiments with random condition were conducted to confirm the suggested experimental model.
