  • This paper presents the voltage source type half bridge lossless auxiliary inductor snubber assisted series capacitor compensated resonant high frequency inverter for induction heated fixing roller in copy machines. This high-frequency inverter treated here can completely achieve zero current soft switching (ZCS) commutation for wide power regulation range under its constant frequency pulse density modulation (PDM) scheme. Its transient and steady-state operating principle is originally presented fur a constant frequency PDM control strategy under a ZCS operation commutation, together with its output effective power regulation characteristics-based on the PDM strategy. The experimental operating performances of this ZCS-PDM high frequency inverter using IGBTs are illustrated as compared with computer simulation ones. Its power losses and actual efficiency are evaluated and discussed on the basis of simulation and experimental results.

  • This research presented the new zero-current switching pulse width modulation SEPP(Single Ended Push-Full)high frequency inverter for solving the problem of the zero-current SEPP high frequency inverter circuit which is using widely in the practical application of an induction heating apparatus, the soft switching operation and power control are impossible when the lowest power supply in the zero-current switching pulse width modulation SEPP high frequency inverter. The inverter circuit which is attempted by on-off operation of a switch has the reduction effect of the power loss due to a soft switching and a high frequency switching. And it confirmed that the power regulation is possible continuously from 0.25[kW] until 2.84[kW] in the case the duty rate(D) changes from 0.08 to 0.3 under zero-current switching operating by a dissymmetry pulse width modulating control and the power conversion efficiency comes true the efficiency of 95[%]. Due to the result above, the ZCS PWM SEPP high frequency inverter will be effective as sources of an induction heating apparatus.

  • Hafnium nitride (HfN) thin films were fabricated by mid-frequency magnetron sputtering (mfMS) and direct current magnetron sputtering (dcMS) and their mechanical and structural properties were compared. In particular, changes in the HfN film properties were observed by changing the pulse frequency of mfMS between 5 kHz, 15 kHz, and 30 kHz. The crystalline structure, microstructure, 3D morphology, and mechanical properties of the HfN films were compared by x-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and nanoindentation tester, respectively. HfN film deposited by mfMS showed a smoother and denser microstructure as the frequency increased, whereas the film deposited by dcMS showed a rough and sloppy microstructure. A single δ-HfN phase was observed in the HfN film made by mfMS with a pulse frequency of 30 kHz, but mixed δ-HfN and HfN0·4 phases were observed in the HfN film made by dcMS. The mechanical properties of HfN film made by mfMS were improved compared to film made by dcMS.

  • In this paper, the O-mode ultrashort-pulse reflectometry (USPR) millimeter-wave signals that propagate into the plasma and cover a frequency bandwidth of 33-158 GHz are examined numerically using MATLAB. Two important processes are involved in the computation: the propagation of the USPR impulse signal through a waveguide and the frequency up-conversion using millimeter-wave mixers. These mixers are limited to intermediate frequency signals that are less than 500 mV; thus, it is necessary to disperse the impulse signal into a chirped waveform using the waveguide. The stationary phase method is utilized to derive a closed-form formula for a chirped waveform under the assumption that the USPR impulse is Gaussian. In the process of frequency up-conversion, the chirped waveform is mixed with the mixer LO signal, and the lower frequency components of the RF signal are removed using high pass filters.

  • In electronic warfare, the pulse amplitude, one of information of a pulse signal emitted by an enemy, is used for estimating distance from the source and for deinterleaving mixed source signals. An estimate of pulse amplitude is conventionally determined as the maximum magnitude of a Fourier transformed signal within its pulse width which is estimated pre-step in an electronic warfare receiver. However, when frequency modulated signals are received, it is difficult to estimate their pulse amplitudes with this conventional method because the energy of signals is dispersed in frequency domain. In order to overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an enhanced pulse amplitude estimation method which calculates the average power of the received pulse signal in time domain and removes the noise power of the receiver. Simulation results show that even in case the frequency modulated signal is received, the proposed method has the same performance as estimating the pulse amplitude when unmodulated signal is received. In addition, the proposed method is shown to be more robust to an estimation error of pulse width, which affects the estimation performance of pulse amplitude, than the conventional method.

  • MRI imaging provides many benefits such as noninvasive, 3-dimensional imaging capabilities. But it has relatively serious drawback that is the long data collection time, compared with other imaging modality. Many studies have been performed for fast MR imaging. But EPI and SEPI (4-6) are required to expensive hardware. In this paper, we introduce to Burst imaging technique. It can reduce imaging time by use of a mulitple RF excitation technique. Further it is easily implemented to the normal MRI system. But a pixel profile in the conventional burst sequence is so poor that excited area by burst sequence is a small portion of a pixel. This causes poor signal to noise ratio in burst image. therefore frequency sweeping of RF pulse for burst imaging sequence is proposed to improve pixel profile. A burst pulse train is shaped by liner or nonlinear frequency sweeping function so that all the spins within a pixel are excited, thereby improving the signal to noise ratio. It also shows that the pixel profiles are dependent on how frequency sweep is made. Computer simulations with Bloch equation and experimental results obtained using a 1.0 T NMR imaging system are presented.

  • In this paper, characteristics of blushless direct current (BLDC) motor including core loss are analyzed considering pulse width modulation (PWM) of inverter. Input voltage of BLDC motor due to PWM is calculated considering duty ratio and carrier frequency of inverter in order to control torque or speed of BLDC motor. For the calculation of core loss, the input current with harmonics due to PWM voltage is calculated by using equivalent circuit model of BLDC motor according to switching pattern and carrier frequency. Next, core loss is analyzed by inputting the currents as a source of BLDC motor for FEM. Characteristics including core loss are compared with ones without PWM waveform according to reference speed.

In this study, dielectric barrier discharging electrodes with round shape have disposed cross each other in reactor, and pulse power was supplied to between each electrodes. Its output pulse voltage range is from 0[V] to 30[kV] and output frequency range is from 100[Hz] to 2[kHz]. Using proposed system, High frequency discharge is tested in the mixed Tone(air and water) and the space distribution of streamer corona plasma is observed. In spite of the increasement of voltage and frequency, the proposed system have a stable operation characteristics. It is verified by the experimental results.

  • In this paper, the sine-wave and trigger pulse generator with capability of frequency high-resolution and time-variable trigger edge has implemented. It fulfills well the requirements for SS-OCT with frequency resolution of 1 Hz, frequency stability of ${\leq}{\pm}0.03Hz$ and time-variable trigger edge. Through its performance test applied to the wavelength swept laser, 90 nm, sweeping range and 10mW average optical power were obtained. This showes that the realized generator can replace the commercial high cost and high performance signal generators employed by current SS-OCT systems.

  • High voltage plasma power supply was adopted to control polluted gases and an ozone generation. Bidirectional pulse power supply consisted of power semiconductor switch devices, a high voltage transformer, and a control board adapted switching method. Plasma power supply with sinusoidal bidirectional pulse, which has output voltage range of 0-20kV and output frequency range of 1kHz-20kHz, is realized. Using proposed system, pulsed high voltage/high frequency discharges were tested in a DBD(dielectric barrier discharge) reactor, and the spatial distribution of a glow discharge was observed. The system showed stable operational characteristics, even though the voltage and the frequency increased. Above features were verified by experiments.
