The Effectiveness of MOOS-IvP based Design of Control System for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (MOOS-IvP를 이용한 무인잠수정 제어기 개발의 효용성)

  • This paper demonstrates the benefit of using MOOS-IvP in the development of control system for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles(UUV). The demand for autonomy in UUVs has significantly increased due to the complexity in missions to be performed. Furthermore, the increased number of sensors and actuators that are interconnected through a network has introduced a need for a middleware platform for UUVs. In this context, MOOS-IvP, which is an open source software architecture, has been developed by several researchers from MIT, Oxford University, and NUWC. The MOOS software is a communication middleware based on the publish-subscribe architecture allowing each application to communicate through a MOOS database. The IvP Helm, which is one of the MOOS modules, publishes vehicle commands using multi-objective optimization in order to implement autonomous decision making. This paper explores the benefit of MOOS-IvP in the development of control software for UUVs by using a case study with an auto depth control system based on self-organizing fuzzy logic control. The simulation results show that the design and verification of UUV control software based on MOOS-IvP can be carried out quickly and efficiently thanks to the reuse of source codes, modular-based architecture, and the high level of scalability.

  • This paper creates a standard node for acquiring sensor data from various industrial sensors (IoT/non-IoT) for the establishment of Smart Factory Digital Twin, and provides inter-compatible data by linking zones by group/process to secure data stability and to ensure the digital twin (Digital Twin) of Smart Factory. The process of the Zone Master platform contains interface specifications to define sensor objects and how sensor interactions between independent systems are performed and carries out individual policies for unique data exchange rules. The interface for execution control of the Zone Master Platform processor provides system management, declaration management for public-subscribe, object management for registering and communicating status information of sensor objects, ownership management for property ownership sharing, time management for data synchronization, and data distribution management for Route information on data exchange.

Design of Dynamic Buffer Assignment and Message model for Large-scale Process Monitoring of Personalized Health Data (개인화된 건강 데이터의 대량 처리 모니터링을 위한 메시지 모델 및 동적 버퍼 할당 설계)

  • The ICT healing platform sets a couple of goals including preventing chronic diseases and sending out early disease warnings based on personal information such as bio-signals and life habits. The 2-step open system(TOS) had a relay designed between the healing platform and the storage of personal health data. It also took into account a publish/subscribe(pub/sub) service based on large-scale connections to transmit(monitor) the data processing process in real time. In the early design of TOS pub/sub, however, the same buffers were allocated regardless of connection idling and type of message in order to encode connection messages into a deflate algorithm. Proposed in this study, the dynamic buffer allocation was performed as follows: the message transmission type of each connection was first put to queuing; each queue was extracted for its feature, computed, and converted into vector through tf-idf, then being entered into a k-means cluster and forming a cluster; connections categorized under a certain cluster would re-allocate the resources according to the resource table of the cluster; the centroid of each cluster would select a queuing pattern to represent the cluster in advance and present it as a resource reference table(encoding efficiency by the buffer sizes); and the proposed design would perform trade-off between the calculation resources and the network bandwidth for cluster and feature calculations to efficiently allocate the encoding buffer resources of TOS to the network connections, thus contributing to the increased tps(number of real-time data processing and monitoring connections per unit hour) of TOS.

  • This paper proposes a mobile content curation service to collect various online/offline publications. The company publishes one-time topic information to a broker server in advance and customer curates topic information on a mobile device by requesting it. The main characteristics of the proposed service are: it is based on request/response model rather than existing publish/subscribe model, can easily specify topic information by input string without QR code or audio recognition, and retrieves all of topic information anywhere anytime by storing it on mobile device. This service can be used for second screen campaign for TV and various online/offline events.

  • Recently, Jaiswal et al. proposed a protocol to improve the multi-agent negotiation test-bed which was proposed by Collins et al. Using publish/subscribe system, time-release cryptography and anonymous communication, their protocol gives an improvement on the old one. However, it is shown that the protocol also has some security weaknesses: such as replay data attack and DOS (denial-of-service) attack, anonymity disclosure, collusion between customers and a certain supplier. So proposed protocol reduces DOS attack and avoids replay data attack by providing ticket token and deal sequence number to the supplier. And it is proved that the way that market generates random number to the supplier is better than the supplier do by himself in guaranteeing anonymity.   • The perforrnance and portability of mobile applications can be greatly increased by adopting proxy modiles which exists between the conventional system and the device. When mobile devices collaborate with the conventional computers, there are problems to address: a battery life problem, limited input and output methods, and intermittent wireless connection. Those issues are magnified in the multimedia collaboration environment since it works in a real-time condition and the size of the message in the system is big in many cases. Additionally, because multimedia collaboration system softwares are too heavy and complex for mobile devices, it is veη hard to integrate them with conventional systems. In this paper, we describe our design and its implementation of a novel approach to map events (i.e. messages) using a proxy for mobile applications. We adopt a proxy to provide a content adaptation (i.e. transcoding) where the message contents are customized. Also, we design a mobile version publish/subscribe system to provide communication service for mobile device in loosely coupled and flexible manner. We present our empirical results which show that our design can be efficiently implemented and integrated with a conventional multimedia collaboration system.

  • Naval combat management system is a kind of complex weapon systems performing naval ship's warfare mission by integrating various types of system including sensor systems, weapon systems and many kinds of communication system. Recently, there are many studies to apply commercial high-level communication middleware to naval combat system development to integrate and interoperate various kinds of heterogeneous on-board systems efficiently. An initial discovery mechanism is required for application modules to start communication with their relevant modules to apply middlware technology in developing naval combat system, which is characterized by large-scale, complex and real-time system. This paper suggests a fast hybrid discovery mechanism which combines static and dynamic discovery mechanism and confirms its adaptability by an experiment on testing environment.

  • In this paper, we propose a system that improves the data integrity of IoT(Internet of Things) devices in the virtual environment by combining Hyperledger Indy and MQTT(Message Queuing Telemetry Transport). The system complements the limitations of the centralized system by realizing a DPKI(Decentralized Public Key Infrastructure) structure that utilizes a distributed network in publish-subscribe(pub/sub) pattern communication. Digital signature technology was applied to ensure the data integrity of IoT devices and communication scenarios between the four core components of the client, IoT device, broker, and blockchain, as well as a topic structure using a decentralized identifier to ensure safety in the virtual environment. We present a systematic method for transparent data exchange. To prove the performance of the proposed system, this paper conducted experiments on four scenarios and evaluated communication performance in a virtual environment. The experimental results confirmed that the proposed system provides a reliable IoT data communication structure in a virtual environment.

  • We are currently able to share not only the information from humans but also the data from connected things on the Internet. We are getting close to IoT era because of progress of Information Communication Technology. Therefore, the ways of data transfer are offered between things to things. One of typical way is the HTTP protocol. However, The field of Internet of Things platforms requires more fast and more stable communication protocol to handle massive data. The system supporting HTTP protocol, there is a problem of transmission efficiency in a relatively large header compared to data. also HTTP protocol system overload situations and the problem of data compatibility happens due to each standard of many organizations. Thus, To solve these problems, I suggest the data collection solution based on MQTT protocol for the operation of the stable IoT platforms.

  • In recent years, there is a remarkable progress in ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies), and then many attempts to apply ICTs to other industries are being made. In the field of disaster managements, ICTs such as RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) and USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Network) are used to provide safe environments. Actually, various types of early warning systems using USN are now widely used to monitor natural disasters such as floods, landslides and earthquakes, and also to detect human-caused disasters such as fires, explosions and collapses. These early warning systems issue alarms rapidly when a disaster is detected or an event exceeds prescribed thresholds, and furthermore deliver alarm messages to disaster managers and citizens. In general, these systems consist of a number of various sensors and measure real-time stream data, which requires an efficient and rapid data processing technique. In this study, an event-driven architecture (EDA) is presented to collect event effectively and to provide an alert rapidly. A publish/subscribe event processing method to process simple event is introduced. Additionally, a complex event processing (CEP) technique is introduced to process complex data from various sensors and to provide prompt and reasonable decision supports when many disasters happen simultaneously. A basic concept of CEP technique is presented and the advantages of the technique in disaster management are also discussed. Then, how the main processing methods of CEP such as aggregation, correlation, and filtering can be applied to disaster management is considered. Finally, an example of flood forecasting and early alarm system in which CEP is incorporated is presented It is found that the CEP based on the EDA will provide an efficient early warning method when disaster happens.
