A Study on the Online Information Services of Broadcasting Video Data: Focusing on Public Broadcasting (방송 영상자료의 온라인 기록정보서비스에 관한 연구: 공영방송을 중심으로)

  • In recent years, many users preferred video records, and as the broadcasting video data becomes necessary, the demand for video records' use has increased. However, most broadcasters' archive agencies currently provide archive services only for internal employees, and for the general public. In this study, the web-based online information services provided to the general public in the archive sites of domestic and foreign public broadcasting companies were examined and analyzed. The evaluation criteria for the web-based records information services were identified in three service areas: online accessibility, search and online browsing, and outreach or expansion services. The overseas public broadcasters' web-based services and the public broadcasting companies' current status were examined for each area. Based on the examination, direction improvements, such as providing online search and records, developing various outreach services, and expanding user levels were proposed for the information services on broadcasting video data in public broadcasting companies for the general public.

Public Internet Service and Customer Satisfaction with a Focus on Public Agencies in Korea (정부기관이 제공하는 인터넷 서비스의 고객 만족도 측정 및 평가)

  • Internet development requires the evaluation of secure Internet service quality. This study evaluated public Internet service quality categories and items based on the eQual program developed by Barnes & Vidgen (2006). Using a questionnaire designed to test Internet service qualities for public websites designed by The Knowledge and Information Resources Management Project, we examined 707 users and then measured the effects of service quality factors on customer satisfaction. In conclusion, we found that information quality, usability, and service interaction had a positive effect on customer satisfaction.

An Exploratory Study for Utilization of Copyrighted Public Records and Provision of Customer-Centered Services (공공저작물 활용 및 수요자 중심의 서비스 제공을 위한 탐색적 연구 : 공공저작물 제공사이트를 중심으로)

  • This study defines copyrighted public records in broad sense including open government data and public domain except for some private records. Additionally, this study aims to investigate improvement plan for maximizing utilization of copyrighted public records in web-sites using customer side, without consideration of supplier side. For this purpose, qualitative study method was used with grounded theory on analyzed problems from literature review and case study. Literature review was concentrated on definition of open data and abroad utilization indicators whereas case study analyzed current situation of four web-sites providing copyrighted public records. Converged opinions from in-depth interview and various statistical data was analyzed as a basis for grounded theory, then a paradigm model was constructed and future improvement plans were presented. The findings imply that opening of copyrighted public records is not just important for quantitative results, rather it requires qualitative improvement providing latest credible information that is consistent with the demand of the customer. Thus, development of service platform and business models for copyrighted public records are urgent task.

Web Cross Browsing of Korean Enterprises and Public Institutions According to International Guidelines (국제 표준을 통해 살펴 본 한국 기업과 공공기관의 웹사이트 호환성)

  • Korea is one of the most advanced countries in the world in terms of information technologies (IT) applications and usages. However, its web browser market is so dominated by one company, and its web cross browsing according to international guidelines isquestioned. In this research, we have empirically examined web cross browsing of web sites of major companies and pubic institutions in Korea through different web browsers which conform international guidelines. In general, web cross browsing through Firefox was lower by 19% than that through Internet Explorer. Web cross browsing of public institutions was better than that of companies, and financial institutions were the worst. Typical cross browsing problems found with Firefox were inability to pay online, failure to play multimedia contents, and frame display errors. Causes of web cross browsing problems and suggestions for improving cross browsing are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to introduce the Podcast's concept, to perform the theoretical research of Podcast services based on Web 2.0, to analyze the application cases of Podcast for academic and public library services in USA, and to propose the proper application programs of Podcast in Korean academic & public libraries. As the results of this study, through the Podcast, the public libraries have served these : library & events introduction, user instruction, community news, special lecture, storytelling, library tour, etc, and the academic libraries have served these : special topic librarian introduction, special lectures, seminar, forum, addition to library tour. The results of this study will give the good examples for planning Podcast programs in Korean academic & public libraries.

Self-disclosure and Privacy in the Age of Web 2.0 A Case Study (웹 2.0 시대의 프라이버시 청년 UCC 이용자들의 인식과 실천을 중심으로)

  • With the advent of the so-called Web 2.0 age, the interconnections of various contents on the web, as well as the user-participatory services from blogs, web-based communities, picture sharing sites, and social networking sites, to the sites for collective knowledge productions, have been further vitalized. As the User Generated Contents(UGCs) are flourishing on the web, they have channeled users' desires for self-expression and social acknowledgement, and yet have created the new kinds of invasion of privacy. This study attempts to look at how the networked individuals' everyday perceptions of privacy have been reconstructed in the age of Web 2.0. By investigating how users have used the UGCs for their sociality on the web and how they have set the boundaries of the private and the public in these public or semi-public disclosures of self-expressions, it has traced the changing perceptions of privacy in everyday communication practices. For this study, it has interviewed Korean youngsters in their 10s and 20s who have grown up with the Internet and have received self-expressions and social communication on the web as everyday activities. Based on their interviews, it inquires into the concurrent notion of privacy and discuss its cultural implications.

  • For the sake of activating web-based reading education in the public libraries, This study examine the practical use of web-based reading education and research into its activation. Web-based reading, red the book at any time/where with librarian and user, is to achieve the goal of reading education. The methods are to set up Home page of reading education through Internet, to guide user in various web-based reading materials and reading planning at any time. In addition, It is to be completed interactive action such as book review, reading dicussion through E-mail, a bulletin board, chatting etc. with librarian or user.

Measures of Abnormal User Activities in Online Comments Based on Cosine Similarity (코사인 유사도 기반의 인터넷 댓글 상 이상 행위 분석 방법)

  • It is more important to ensure the credibility of internet media which influence the public opinion. However, there are vague suspicions in public from the examples of manipulation of online reviews with anonymity. In this study, we explore the possibility of manipulating public opinion in online web sites. We investigate the characteristics of comments posted by users on web sites and compare each comments by using the cosine similarity function. Our result shows followings. First, we found a correlation between the similarities of comments and the article ranks in the web sites. Second, it is possible to identify abnormal user activities indicating excessive multiple posting, double posting and astroturf activities.

  • Various studies using accident cases are being conducted to identify the causes of accidents in the construction industry, but studies on the differences between public and private construction are insignificant. In this study, web scraping and text mining technologies were applied to analyze the causes of accidents by order type. Through statistical analysis and word cloud analysis of more than 10,000 structured and unstructured data collected, it was confirmed that there was a difference in the types and causes of accidents in public and private construction. In addition, it can contribute to the establishment of safety management measures in the future by identifying the correlation between major accident causes.
