Methods: The study had a one group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design. Data were collected from 38 child care helpers from July 6 to November 9, 2013. The health promotion program consisted of health education, self-exercise, encouragement, and identification. The following data were collected perception(perceived benefit, barrier, and self-efficacy), physical fitness(balance, grasp power, and flexibility), and body composition(body mass index, body fat ratio, waist circumference, and basal metabolic rate) and analysis was performed using on SPSS WIN 18.0. Results: Self-efficacy showed a significant increased. Body mass index, body fat ratio, and waist circumference showed a significant decreased. No significant difference in perceived benefit, barrier, physical fitness, and basal metabolic rate was observed between pre-test and post-test. • Accidents are the fourth-leading causal factor of death among the elderly, and fall is a major type of accident (53.17%). Many cases of falls in the elderly result in delayed discovery and loss of quality of life. As the number of the elderly grows, falls will be a more important health problem. Most previous research on falls investigated prevalence. mortality, and the related factors. There are many studies proving the effect of rhythmic movements. But few researches considered linking risk factors of fall with rhythmic movements. Purpose: We want to show the changes after performing rhythmic movement program, in risk factors of falls and mobility such as flexibility, balance, muscle power and persistency in the elderly, in order to provide basic information needed for the development of fall injury prevention program for the elderly. Method: The design of this study is quasi-experimental, the equivalent control group, pretest-posttest. The subjects consist of 124 people who lived in Do-Bong-Qu. Seoul, agreed to participate in this study, and were able to follow this rhythmic movement program. About 93 % of them are from 65 to 84 years (Mean${\pm}$sd: $73.7{\pm}5.7$): 64% are female. The rhythmic movement program was designed. and performed by two community health nurses working in the Do-Bong-Gu Public Health Center, regularly twice a week from May, 4 to December, 17. in 10 senior citizens' community centers. Risk factors of fall were measured with RAFS- II (Risk Assessment for Falls Scale II) by asking about each item: mobility was measured by observing their specific movements asked by investigators. Results: 1. After performing the program during 7 months, risk factors score of falls were decreased significantly (paired-t = 4.77. p<0.01). 2. After performing the program during 7 months, flexibility (paired-t = 2.26. p=0.03) and mobility were improved (paired-t = 4.98. p<0.01). but muscle power and persistency did not change (paired-t = 0.33. p=0.74). Overall, mobility affecting the occurrence of falls was improved significantly (paired-t = 5.15. p<0.01). Conclusions: A regular rhythmic movement program can be helpful in preventing falls in the elderly. Further. we can develop a fall injury prevention program using rhythmic movement.

Community programs can be an important strategy for primary prevention of hypertention and for monitoring the progress and promoting compliance of hypertensive patients. Hwachon Health Demonstrain Project has designed community hypertention control program, especially emphasizing role of public health sector, and operate that model from 1990 at Hwachon county, Kwangwon province. This paper appraise the effectiveness of curent activities. Many paper appraise the effectiveness of curent activities. Many hypertensive persons who have not recognized his disease were identified and began hypertension treatment. However about two thirds of patients have not complied continuously with medical advice. Consequently, the project team redirects its efforts. Less emphasis is being placed screening and identification of patients, while more emphasis is being placed on increasing compliance with treatment recommendations. Some approches to improve hypertension control program are also discussed in the context of the field experience and literature on this suvjest.

The frequencies and time of exercise and the exercise cognition before and after the exercise program were compared. The program included exercise training and education 2 or 3 times a week for three months with 6 different kinds of exercise machines. 32 persons were interviewed. and the results. which were analyzed using SPSS package program. showed frequencies. percentages and Wilcoxon rank sum test. The following conclusions were obtained: 1. After the exercise program. the exercise frequency and time were increased. and the leisure life was changed positively. 2. $96.9\%$ of the interviewees understood well the necessity of the exercise, and the most reasonable reason why they do exercise was to keep their physical strength and health. • Objective : This study aimed qualitative change of traditional korean medical public health programs (TKM-PHP) by the research of present condition, problems and improvement direction about TKM-PHP. Methods : Data were collected from 222 of 996 public health oriental medical doctors(PHOMD) using the structured questionnaire by e-mail. Collected data were analyzed through frequency analysis, T-test, and ANOVA using SPSS 12.0 and significant level was 0.05. Results : 59.5% of the respondents said that the TKM-PHP are not efficiently executed because there are not enough motivations to entice oriental medical doctors in charge of the programs and because PHOMD and the government officials in charge lack in relevant experiences and skills. A majority of the PHOMD recognize a need for activating the TKM-PHP but less actively participate in the programs since there is not a good rewarding system and there are neither standard manuals nor methodological guidelines for the programs. In order to activate the TKM-PHP, it is urgent to employ full-time oriental medical doctors and to continually and systematically appoint the professional manpower in charge. And it is also needed for the state to secure an adequate budget and prepare schemes for persistently train such professionals. Conclusion : Activating the TKM-PHP will lead to the development of TKM, but there are still such problems as lack of the professional manpower in charge, an excessive burden of the duties of PHOMD, lack of program manuals, and a poor system for evaluation. To solve these problems, it is advised to construct foundations for administerial supports, draw up a standard manual, prepare a system for evaluation in consideration of the characteristics of TKM, and hire professionals to ensure sustainable programs.

  • Purpose: This study was performed in order to examine the effects of an smoking cessation counselling program for smoking cessation success. Method: Among a total of 468 persons who had ceased from smoking for 6-months and had visited the smoking cessation clinic of a public health center from January 2nd to December 31th in 2006, 61 in all who had a negative reaction in the urine nicotine check were selected for this study. Collected data were expiratory CO concentration, BMI, blood pressure, liver function, and lipid metabolism. These data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, repeated measured ANOVA and paired t-test with the SPSS/PC(Version 12.0) program. Result: There were significant changes in expiratory CO concentration, SBP, DBP, AST, ALT, and TG, but not in BMI, $\gamma$-GTP, TC, HDL-C, and LDL-C. Conclusion: This study showed that smoking cessation through a smoking cessation counselling program has partially positive effects for smoking cessation success. The results of this study show that the smoking cessation counselling program at the smoking cessation clinic of a public health center should be continued for smoking cessation success.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of an eight session integrated case management program for improvement of medication adherence, physical function, pain, and depression among medical aid beneficiaries with osteoarthritis. Method: A nonequivalent control group pre-posttest design was employed. Participants were 55 medical aid beneficiaries who agreed to participate in this study, and were assigned to an experimental group (n=28) or control group (n=27). The framework of this research derived from Cox's Interaction Model of Client Health Behavior guided the overall intervention and the components. The program led by a case manager with a medication calendar, motivating interviewing and coaching strategies and collaboration with a pharmacist. Analysis included change in scores, ${\chi}^2$-test, and t-test. Result: The results showed significant increase in medication adherence, physical function and decrease joint pain, joint stiffness and depression in the experimental group compared to the control group. Conclusion: The eight session integrated case management program indicated an effect on medication adherence, pain, physical function, and depression. Partnership with a pharmacist is recommended for medication adherence and conduct of further studies will be needed in order to determine the long-term effect of an extended integrated program on health outcomes.
