New Museum for New Forms of Art - Focused on "Museum without Walls", and the relationship between art and architecture -

  • To design and construct a museum of art involves the interest of artists, architects, curatorship, management, and local government. More than this direct relationship, museum obliges the public a mission of delivering genuine public experience through art and architecture. However, most of Modern and contemporary architecture has not delivered genuine public experience of integrated art and architecture. Conceptual message of art and perceptual architectural exhibition space has not been integrated easily. Picture frame canvas initiated this schism and institutionalized museum management hampered the creativity of artists. This schism was overcome through artists' questioning of museum culture and creative works that embrace work and its environment. In contemporary culture, installation art and media art necessitates a new museum format which needs not only exhibition, but laboratory and interface space with viewers. This paper will regroup the existing museum according to its use and strategy, and reinterpret progressive museums that fosters young artists, and more than this, will introduce successfully established museums for new forms of art, which are equipped with versatile exhibition spaces, innovative interface between works and viewers, and own laboratory that can produce works of art. These examples will envision a creative method of art and architecture production that can achieve genuine public experience.

  • 최근 공익마케팅활동에 대한 관심과 중요성에 대한 인식이 확산됨에 따라 국내 일부 컨벤션센터와 지역 컨벤션뷰로에서 사회공헌활동을 추진하고 있으나, 공익마케팅활동에 관한 연구들은 대부분 소비자의 시각에 치중되어 컨벤션센터나 지역 컨벤션뷰로 등 컨벤션 조직원의 관점에서 공익마케팅활동 중요성인식이 어떤지 반영되어 있지 않은 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 컨벤션과 관련된 공공조직의 종사자들을 대상으로 컨벤션조직의 공익마케팅활동의 중요성 인식을 파악하며, 컨벤션조직의 공익마케팅활동을 실시할 때 컨벤션개최지의 긍정적 또는 부정적 효과에 영향을 미치는지 살펴보고, 개최지 긍정적 효과와 부정적 효과가 개최지 브랜드가치에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대한 분석하고자 한다.

  • Museums after '70's shows remarkable development in public area as well as exhibiiton area. One of the main changes in recent museums is to extend the concept of circulatin area, which regarded solely as a corridor connecting exhibition areas, as a multiple function area with various service facilities. This study aims to outline atypological classification of exhibition area considering with circulation area in museum. On the base of two principal types of exhibition area, that is room type vs open plant type, 30 representative worldwide museums are analyzed and four different types are identified as a result. 1) Loop type as a rotating structure of serial exhibition rooms 2) Cluster type which produce complicated circulation with rooms lied one upon another 3) Centrum type which is specially available to multistory exhibition area 4) Loft type with maximum flexibi쇼 and accessbility.

전시시나리오구조 유형별 관람행동특성에 관한 연구 - 자연과학계박물관을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Characteristics of Viewing Behaviors by the Composition Type Exhibition Scenarios - Focused on Natural Science Museums -)

  • The purposes of natural science museums are to educate the general public on the principles and application of science, and help them understand various aspects of science technology. Data should be analyzed by considering these educational aspects of exhibition, and the methods of presenting exhibits should be decided. Accordingly, the composition of exhibition contents with various exhibition elements has an important role at natural science museums. The relation and structure of exhibition themes are significant factors in helping visitors understand the principles of science and a system of viewing circulation can be used as an important tool for understanding the flow of exhibition. In other words, at the planning stage for the composition of exhibition contents, the relation of exhibition themes as well as the circulation patterns of viewers can induce active viewing behaviors. Therefore, centering on the patterns of viewing circulation as well as on the connectivity of exhibition themes at natural science museums, the purposes of this research are: 1) to conceptualize the composition of exhibition contents; and 2) to find elements that can induce active viewing behaviors by analyzing visitors' viewing behaviors. This research was establishing an analytical indicator of contact for viewing behaviors observed from the composition of exhibition scenarios, the active viewing patterns of engagement, first contact, and repeated contact were analyzed. First, a composition pattern with a high participation rate, in contact with exhibits, was found to induce an overall-viewing circulation and have a big ring of the composition of exhibition themes. Second, by inducing a partial-viewing circulation pattern, a high rate of first contacts was observed from a ring pattern of theme connection. Even for the structure with theme connection with depth, a high frequency of contacts with various exhibits was found when exhibition themes have a ring pattern. Third, the repeated contacts were mostly found in the form of scenarios, which has a successive structure of ring and cross patterns.

청주국제공예비엔날레 전시회장 조성에 관한 평가와 분석 (An Analysis of evaluations of Exhibition Design for Cheongju International Craft Biennale)

  • Cheoungju International Craft Biennale is not just an art exhibition but more like a pubic festival which is including an experiential learning and a public participation section as well as a special exhibition and an international competition section. Thus it is strongly required to present an appropriate meaning and mood corresponding to each exhibition hall. The paper has examined the exhibition topics during the last 10 years and the plannings and contents to install the exhibition hall according the yearly topic and it has analyzed the comprehensive evaluations after the exhibition. The research scope is limited to the part related to the exhibition hall and facilities, which is including calculation of dimensions and layout, access and movement system, the appropriateness of the design and construction period, measure of applied technology appropriateness, post management as well as planning intent, estimation of the number of the visitors, preliminaries. With the results shown in the comprehensive evaluation and analysis, the paper has presented two issues, the one related to the procensure and preparation and the other related to the facilities. It is showed that both problems are due to the lack of expertise and it is necessary for the experts to participate from the first step of the procedure including planning for the successful exhibition. For the appropriate exhibition hall corresponding to the exhibition planning and scale, it is required to have the professional considerations of successful space and visitor's movement management, display environment, construction method, and post management. The study presents that architectural and interior design have to take an active part in constructing exhibition design in overall stage including the initial, practice, and evaluation stage.

  • 최근 전시는 과거의 지루하고 딱딱하던 이미지에서 벗어나 관객이 직접 느끼고 참여할 수 있는 대중에 친근한 문화의 한 축으로 자리 잡았다. 이와 함께 전시의 형태와 방향 역시 다양화되고, 여러 가지 시도가 이루어지고 있다. 또한, 이러한 변화와 함께 전시콘텐츠의 표현 방법 역시 다양화 되고 있으며, 그 표현에 있어 형태적, 물리적 표현보다 감성적, 심리적 표현 및 체험을 유도하는 방법이 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 전시콘텐츠 표현에 빛과 색채를 적용하여 관람객에서 보다 효과적으로 전시의 내용과 분위기, 감성 등을 표현할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 한다.

  • Placing itself in position of spectators, museum should be able to explain to them what meaning the medium of exhibi-tion has and what role it has to paly. For that, it is an indispensable process to plan an archite-ctural environment and exhibition presentation suitable to the exhibition which are main objects of museum, but as a result of its being reglected by this time, it has been recog-nized as a tigid and formal place closed and estranged from the general public. The authoritarian aspect of museum resulted from its sys-tem negative to the people of our country, while its services have been developed as a place in which one understand a country most quicky. Recently, however, as a movement of participating in the newly changing general trend, the contest of design of the new National Museum was announced publicaly worldwide introducing the Museografia method of planning exhibition presentation after thorough analysis of exhibition, which made it known that an importance is intensely put on the en-vironment of relics and their exhibition. The purpose of the study is to analogize the planning prin-ciple of the interior design of the exhibition room of sculp-tures, placing emphasis on the exhibition presentation intro-ducing Museografia as a way of examining the problems and solving them concerning the existing standardized uni-form method of displaying exhibition. 과거와의 대면 : ${\ll}$미르티스${\gg}$ 전시를 통해 기억된 아테네 대 역병 (Face to Face with the Past: Memorizing the Plague of Athens through the Exhibition)

  • The exhibition was started in 2010 in the New Acropolis Museum of Athens and embarked a journey since 2011 as a travelling exhibition inside Greece and abroad. The main purpose of the exhibition was to draw attention of the general public to the value of the 'rescue excavation' and of cultural heritage of Greece, by presenting the reconstruction bust of a girl whose skull was found in Kerameikos cemetery of ancient Athens. The new Kerameikos excavation was initiated by the construction of Metropolitan Railway lines in the center of Athens between 1992 to 1998. It revealed a pit of a mass burial where about 150 people were inhumed in a very hasty way without proper funeral rites or offerings. These bodies are identified as the victims of the infamous plague of Athens in the first years of the Peloponnesian War(430-426 BC). The epidemic disease killed almost one third of the city population including Pericles, and brought extreme fear and panic to the Athens society. The traditional funerary rites were totally disrupted, and the social decorum and the morality among the citizens became enfeebled. The plague and the civil war were the decisive factors to end the Golden Age of Democratic Athens. However, the exhibition organizers did not focus on the tragic aspect of this disaster and its casualties. Their main concern was to simplify the scholarly works of archaeological excavation and microchemistry analysis so that the exhibition viewers will easily understand and empathize the living value of the scholarly works of ancient Greek civilization. The centripetal element of the exhibition was the vivid face of an 11 years old ancient girl 'Myrtis', which was carefully reconstructed based on both the scientific data and artistic imagination. Also the set up of the exhibition was structured in order to stimuli cognitive and emotional experience of the visitors who witnessed the rebirth of a vibrant human being from an ancient debris. The museologists' continuous efforts to promote projects of contemporary artists, publications, and school programs related to the exhibition indicate that the ulterior motive of this exhibition is the cultural education of the present and future generation through the intimate experiences of ancient Greek life. Also this is the reason why the various museums that held the travelling exhibition try to make the presentation as a gesture of memorial service for an anonymous Athenian girl who deceased circa 2400 years ago. The pragmatic efforts of Greek scholars and museologists through exhibition show us a way to find a solution to the continuous threat of cultural resources by massive construction projects and land development, and to overcome public indifference to the history and cultural heritage.

교육기록물관리기관 기록전시 방안 연구 - 경남지역을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Records Exhibition Ways of Educational Archives: Focused on Gyeongsangnam-do)

  • 전시프로그램은 기록관에 생소한 이용자들과 소통할 수 있는 가장 효과적인 방식 중의 하나로 활용되고 있다. 그러나 지금까지 대부분의 기록관 전시프로그램은 기록물의 내용을 단순히 보여주는 방식으로 이루어져 왔다. 그렇기 때문에 관람객의 관심도가 극히 저조하거나 전시 행사의 취지를 살리지 못하는 경우도 많았다. 기록관은 내용 중심의 기록을 열거하는 기존의 전시 방식에서 벗어나서, 전시된 기록물에 대한 이용자의 관심과 이해를 높일 수 있는 새로운 기록전시 방안을 강구할 필요가 있다. 이를 위하여 이 연구에서는 기록전시의 개념과 구성요소를 살펴보고, 국내외 기록 전시 사례를 분석하고, 교육기록물관리기관 전시를 위한 고려사항을 살펴보았다. 연구의 결과, 교육기록물관리기관의 기록전시 방안을 제시하였다.
