Investigation was carried out lean burn de-NOx properties of Pt-$TiO_2$ bifunctional catalyst by propylene in order to get the high de-NOx activity and the wide temperature window under coexistence of $SO_2$ and $H_2O$. Only noncatalyst and carrier catalyst themselves had NOx conversion activity at high temperature over $400^{\circ}C$. NOx conversion activity of catalysts exchanged copper ion resulted in Cu-$TiO_2$>Cu-ZSM-5>Cu-$Al_2O_3$>CU-YZ>Cu-AZ. Catalysts impregnated with platinum based on titania gave the results of high NOx conversion activity at low temperature. $250^{\circ}C$. Bifunctional catalysts based on Pt-$TiO_2$ showed high NOx conversion activity both at a low zone of $300^{\circ}C$ and a high zone of $500^{\circ}C$. Pt-$TiO_2$/$Al_2O_3$ catalyst gave the highest NOx conversion activity at a low temperature zone. and Pt-$TiO_2$/$Mn_2O_3$(21) catalyst gave the highest NOx conversion activity at a high temperature zone. Under the coexistence of $SO_2$ and $H_2O$. NOx conversion activities of 0.55wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/5wt%Cu-ZSM-5 catalyst was high both at a low and high temperature zone, and increased depending on oxygen concentration. 0.55wt%Pt-$TiO_2$/5wt%Cu-ZSM-5 catalyst showed the best correlation between de-NOx activities and the propyl ere conversion rates to CO on the log function.
In this study, the study of the selective catalytic oxidation (SCO) for controlling the $NH_3$ at $200{\sim}350^{\circ}C$ range was investigated. Physicochemical properties of the catalysts were determined using XRD and XPS analysis. In the case of catalytic activity according to thermal treatment condition, the reduction catalyst showed better activity than that of using the calcination catalyst. It was confirmed that the valence state of reduction catalyst was mainly $Pt^{2+}$ and $Pt^0$ as analyzed by XPS. Also, when comparing the reaction activities of $Pt/TiO_2$ catalysts according to the reduction temperature, the $NH_3$ conversion of the catalyst reduced at $700^{\circ}C$ showed the most excellent activity. However, the best activity of $NH_3$ conversion to $N_2$ was obtained for the catalyst reduced at $600^{\circ}C$.

The xAl-yCe oxide catalysts with different mol ratios of Al/(Al+Ce) were prepared by a co-precipitation method and Pt supported on xAl-yCe oxide catalysts were synthesized by an incipient wetness impregnation method. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray Diffraction (XRD), $N_2$ sorption, and $H_2$/CO-temperature programmed reduction ($H_2$/CO-TPR) to correlate with catalytic activities in co oxidation. Among the catalysts studied here, Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst showed the highest activity in dry and wet reaction conditions and the catalytic activity showed a typical volcano-shape curve with respect to Al/(Al+Ce) mol ratio. When the presence of 5% water vapor in the feed, the temperature of $T_{50%}$ was shifted ca. $30^{\circ}C$ to lower temperature region than that in dry condition. From CO-TPR, the desorption peak of $CO_2$ on Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst showed the highest value and well correlated the catalytic performance. It indicates that the Pt/1Al-9Ce oxide catalyst has a large amount of active sites which can be adsorbed by co and easy to supplies the needed oxygen. In addition, the amount of pentacoordinated $Al^{3+}$ sites obtained through $^{27}Al$ NMR analysis is well correlated the catalytic performance.

The 20% Pt/C catalysts were synthesized using the chemical reduction method for polymer electrolyte fuel cell cathode and were heat-treated in the temperature range from 300 to $600^{\circ}C$. The oxygen reduction reaction of the catalysts was evaluated using the electrochemical measurement. The oxygen reduction reaction of the heat-treated Pt/C at $300^{\circ}C$ had high catalytic activity and the oxygen reduction reaction current of that was 2 times than that of non-heat treatment catalyst. It is considered that the change of the crystallinity and particle size by heat treatment could increase the catalytic activity.
Agglomeration of catalysts is known as one of the major degradation mechanisms. Reforming of liquid fuel, which requires high temperature over $800^{\circ}C$, accelerates agglomeration of catalysts. In this work, The effects of agglomeration on catalysts activity in partial oxidation reforming conditions were investigated. Metal supported catalysts(Pt-CGO, Ru-CGO) were compared to perovskite-structured catalysts(NECS-P1, NECS-P2). High thermal stability of perovskite-structured catalysts was reported. Micro-reactor installed in electric furnace was used. its Temperature was raised from $800^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$ to accelerate agglomeration effect. To measure rate of agglomeration, BET analysis and CO pulse chemisorption were conducted on catalysts exposed to $1100^{\circ}C$. Metal supported catalysts showed degradation at $1000^{\circ}C$ and The rates were different according to metal supported. On the other hand perovskite-structured catalysts showed no degradation at $1000^{\circ}C$.
A novel self-humidifying composite membrane for the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) at low humidity condition was developed. The Pt/$TiO_2$ catalyst particles were synthesized via supercritical impregnation methods. Pt precursor was dissolved in supercritical carbon dioxide and impregnated onto $TiO_2$ particles. Pt precursors were platinum(II) acetylacetonate, Dimethyl(1,5-cyclooctadiene) platinum(II) and we controlled the ratio of Pt to $TiO_2$. The impregnated Pt precursor was converted to $TiO_2$ supported Pt nanoparticle under various reducing conditions. Pt/$TiO_2$ catalyst particles were dispersed uniformly into the Nafion solution, and then Pt/$TiO_2$/Nafion composite membrane was prepared using solution-cast method. The self-humidifying composite membrane could minimize membrane conductivity loss under dry conditions due to the presence of catalyst and hydrophilic Pt/$TiO_2$ particles. To optimize the performance of MEA, amount of ionomer loading was controlled. And mixed catalysts were used. The cell performance of MEA was obviously improved under dry conditions at $65^{\circ}C$.

Pt-V catalytic converter was installed on a heavy duty diesel engine and the characteristics of the emission reduction were tested using a engine dynamometer at various operating conditions. The emission reduction performance of Pt-V catalyst was also compared with that of a commercialized Pt catalyst currently being used in some of the heavy duty diesel engines in advanced countries. The effects of Pt-V and Pt catalysts on regulated and unregulated emissions were investigated using a 0.05 weight percent sulfur content fuel with an engine dynamometer Experiments for gaseous emissions (CO, HC and aldehyde) as well as particulate emissions (TPM, SOF and sulfate) have been conducted at several operating conditions such as T-7 mode, D-13 mode and S-13 mode before and after installing the Pt-V and Pt catalysts in the exhaust system. The emission reduction performance of Pt catalyst with respect to CO, HC, SOF, PAHs and aldehyde was found to be a little higher than that of Pt-V catalyst, but the Pt catalyst showed innate disadvantage of causing an increase of PM due to the sulfate formation via high SO2 conversion at high exhaust temperature, especially above 45$0^{\circ}C$.

Nano Pt particles were dispersed on carbon-based supports by a polyol process for a catalyst application in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell. We tried to optimize the effect of pH on the electrostatic forces between the support and the Pt colloids. We investigated the relationship among the surface charges on the carbon support, the solution pH, and the concentration of a glycolate, and the Pt particle size. The produced catalyst with nano Pt particles on the support was evaluated by the long-term cyclic voltammetry (CV) performance test and compared with the results from a commercial catalyst. Our experimental results reveal that the pH-control can modify the particle size distribution and the dispersion of the nano Pt particles. This resulted in a cost-effective method for the synthesis of highly Pt loaded Pt/C catalysts for fuel cells better than a commercial catalyst system.
Selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen monoxide by hydrogen ($H_2$-SCR of NO) over platinum catalysts impregnated on zirconia-incorporated silica ($ZrO_2-SiO_2$) and manganese oxide ($MnO_x$) was investigated. $Pt-MnO_x$ catalyst showed low conversions and low yields of $N_2O$ and $NO_2$ at $100{\sim}350^{\circ}C$. On the other hand, NO conversions over $Pt/ZrO_2-SiO_2$ were very high, but $N_2O$ was predominantly produced at $100-150^{\circ}C$ and the yield of $NO_2$ increased with temperature at $200-300^{\circ}C$, resulting in poor $N_2$ yields. $Pt-MnO_x/ZrO_2-SiO_2$ exhibited a small enhancement in $N_2$ yield at $100-150^{\circ}C$ due to the synergy of $MnO_x$ and $ZrO_2-SiO_2$. The surface composition and oxidation state of the catalyst components and the acidity of the catalysts were examined. IR spectra of the adsorption of NO and their subsequent reactions with hydrogen on these catalysts were also recorded. The variations of conversion and product yield according to the catalyst components in the $H_2$-SCR of NO were discussed in relation to their catalytic roles.
This paper presents the fabrication and characterization of graphene based hydrogen sensors. Graphene was synthesized by annealing process of Ni/3C-SiC thin films. Graphene was transferred onto oxidized Si substrates for fabrication of chemiresistive type hydrogen sensors. Au electrode on the graphene shows ohmic contact and the resistance is changed with hydrogen concentration. Nanoparticle catalysts of Pd and Pt were decorated. Response factor and response (recovery) time of hydrogen sensors based on the graphene are improved with catalysts. The response factors of pure graphene, Pt and Pd doped graphenes are 0.28, 0.6 and 1.26, respectively, at 50 ppm hydrogen concentration.
