There are flourishing studies in the acceptance or usage of information systems literature. Most of them have taken the pro - acceptance view. Undesirably, information technologies often provoke users' reactance or resistance. This paper explores one of the negative reactions -psychological reactance. The present paper studies the effects of the users' perception of threatened freedom and personalization degree on intention to use recommendation services. High personalization can be a major motivation for users to accept recommendation systems. However recommendation services are a two-edged sword, which not only provides users the efficiency of decision making but also poses threats to free choice. When people consider that their freedom is reduced or threatened by others, they experience the motivational state to restore the freedom. This motivational state must be considered in understanding usage of information systems, especially personalized services which are designed for persuasion or compliance. This paper empirically investigates the effect of personalization and the psychological reactance on the intention to use information systems in the personalized recommendation context. Users' perception of personalization increases the usefulness of recommendation service while their perception of threat to freedom reduces the intention to use personalized recommendation service. Findings and implications are discussed.

The general view of the division of affiliates of many large corporations is a reorganization of the governance structure, and the smooth division of affiliates is often well wrapped up in a beautiful breakup. However, the parties to the breakup are not only the owners of the company, but all employees as well. Separation of the owner family can be done with joy and good feelings, because they are separated according to the will of the owner family, and each becomes the owner of the company. As Commitment decreases and turnover behavior appears, it is necessary to take a strategic approach to members, along with consideration. This study looked into the recent separation of LG Group's affiliates based on this point of view. To this end, we focused on the case of LX Hausys of LX Group, which was separated from LG Group. To this end, through a meeting with the person in charge of LX Hausys, the company's response to the division was investigated, and FGI was conducted for retired and current members. As a result, it was confirmed through the person in charge that no appropriate measures were taken due to the separation of the company. Through FGI with the retirees and incumbents, the psychological resistance of the members and the decrease in organizational commitment and the increase in turnover intention was confirm.

Many online content providers who use the Internet to distribute contents, such as news, music, games, books, and other types of information, have been experiencing an extremely competitive business environment. To survive in this environment, they have started charging a fee for the contents that they provide. However, there have been very few success stories in commercializing online contents. One of the biggest hurdles may be customers' psychological resistance against paying a fee for the contents that have been free of charge previously. Without examining customers' perceived prices for online contents, many online content providers have tended to decide their prices by themselves. Online games are not exceptional cases. Although many online game-related research works have focused on psychological and technical aspects, very few works have examined online garners' preference carefully. This study alms at exploring online garners' preference by measuring their WTP (willingness to pay) for online games.

In the era of the 4th industrial revolution, airports around the world are rapidly pushing for smart airports. One ID service based on biometric technology to eliminate congestion and improve airport operation efficiency is one of them. In particular, biopass, which allows you to use the entire journey with one single token without an ID card or boarding pass from arrival at the airport to boarding an aircraft, is emerging as an important technology for smart airports. This study conducted an empirical analysis to identify factors that affect the intention to use in two aspects: the acceptance, and rejection of bio-pass by combining UTAUT and the innovative resistance model. As a result of the study, it was found that the relative advantages and compatibility had a positive effect on the intention to use, and the perceived risk had a negative effect on the intention to use through innovation resistance. This suggests that infrastructure expansion and usage expansion are needed to use time more efficiently at airports, and that the government, airlines, and airport operators need to cooperate to strengthen the security system to relieve users' psychological anxiety.

The most optimal route-search algorithm thus far has introduced a method of applying node labels and link labels. Node labels consider two nodes simultaneously in the optimal route-search process, while link labels consider two links simultaneously. This study proposes a turn-label-based optimal route-search technique that considers two turns simultaneously in the process. Turn-label-based optimal route search guarantees the optimal solution of dynamic programming based on Bellman's principle as it considers a two-turn search process. Turn-label-based optimal route search can accommodate the advantages of applying link labels because the concept of approaching the limit of link labels is applied equally. Therefore, it is possible to reflect rational cyclic traffic where nodes allow multiple visits without expanding the network, while links do not allow visits. In particular, it reflects the additional cost structure that appears in two consecutive turns, making it possible to express the structure of the travel-cost function more flexibly. A case study was conducted on the metropolitan urban railway network consisting of transportation card terminal readers, aiming to examine the scalability of the research by introducing parameters that reflect psychological resistance in travel with continuous pedestrian transfers into turn label optimal path search. Simulation results showed that it is possible to avoid conservative transfers even if the travel time and distance increase as the psychological resistance value for continuous turns increases, confirming the need to reflect the cost structure of turn labels. Nevertheless, further research is needed to secure diversity in the travel-cost functions of road and public-transportation networks.
It is important for marketers to understand both individual resistance and group resistance in order to successfully bring innovations into global markets. We suggest that consumers resist innovations as individuals and as members of a group and that they do this in different ways at different stages of decision-making. The individual resistance begins with forms of initial resistance, develops into emergent resistance and mature or belated resistance at the individual level. In addition, personal moral standards can influence decision making in relation to the adoption of innovations. Individual resistance is sometimes accompanied by or evolves into group resistance. We introduce a framework for thinking about consumer resistance to innovations that sees it as a consequence of social identity, which has functions for the individual, the group to which one belongs, and other individuals and groups. Consumers with membership in a certain group try to increase their self-esteem through the process of social comparison. The more consumers strongly identify with and bond with a certain group, the more in-group solidarity and out-group hostility will occur. Out-group hostility gives group members strong resistance toward products and services related to the out-group. Individual resistance and group resistance are threats to marketers and dampen performance. By considering the existence of resistance to innovations and seeking strategies to overcome it, marketers can transform these threat into new opportunities. A better understanding of consumer resistance can complement research on the adoption of innovations and help in the development of a universal model of consumer behavior.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to clarify the role of decoupling between job characteristics, innovation behavior, and innovation resistance in order to seek ways for companies to survive and grow continuously through innovation activities in various uncertain situations. Research design, data and methodology: A total of 263 valid questionnaires were collected and used for analysis for employees working at the company. For the analysis, simple and multiple regression analysis, and 3-step mediated regression analysis were conducted using SPSS 24.0 and AMOS 24.0. Results: First, it was found that skill variety, task identity, autonomy, and feedback increase decoupling, and decoupling increases innovation resistance. In addition, it was confirmed that decoupling had a mediating effect between job characteristics and innovation resistance excluding task significance. Finally, it was found that task significance and feedback increase innovation behavior, and decoupling and task identity increase innovation resistance, but feedback can alleviate innovation resistance. Conclusions: As a result of the analysis, the fact that job characteristics excluding task importance have a positive effect on decoupling means that there are two sides of job characteristics perceived by employees. In other words, it means that the results of analysis on the jobs that the company assigns to its members may not be effective. In addition, decoupling, a phenomenon that seems to be accepting on the outside, but perceives that it is negative on the inside, means that there is a possibility to reject innovation. Therefore, prior to carrying out innovation activities, companies should give clear job specifications and meanings for the job and give them autonomy when assigning jobs to their members. In order to provide appropriate feedback, the company must design, operate, and provide feedback. It was found that there was a need to review the overall effectiveness. In addition, efforts such as strengthening corporate-level fairness, maintaining psychological contracts, and realizing authentic leadership should be preceded to reduce decoupling.

The purpose of this study is to identify various variables that affect the intention to use the metaverse, which has recently attracted attention. In particular, while previous studies have focused only on the variables that have a positive effect on the spread of the metaverse, this study tried to examine both the use and resistance perspectives by examining the psychological variables of consumers who reject specific changes, such as innovation resistance. By constructing consumer characteristics and innovation characteristic variables that affect innovation diffusion, the relationship between innovation resistance, attitude toward the metaverse, and intention to use the metaverse was examined. As a result of the study, it was found that innovation propensity, social image, and conformity had a negative effect on resistance to the metaverse. In addition, innovation propensity, social image, suitability, relative advantage, complexity, and observability mediate innovation resistance and attitudes toward the metaverse, and were finally revealed as variables that have positive or negative influences on the intention to use the metaverse.
The present study was conducted to devlop and appropriate retirement home model for the elderly in terms of clothing and textiles; nutrition, health, and foodservice; housing and environment; and psychological adaptation. Specifically, the purposes of the study were: 1) to provide basic guidelines for clothing by comparing the clothing behavior of the elderly living in the retirement home and those living in their own homes with family, 2) to provide basic guidelines for balanced diet and effective foodservice, 3) to develop an ideal life space and facilities, and 4) to assess the psychological characteristics of the elderly. Questionnaires, observation, experimental method, and survey of literature were used for the study. Clothing behavior showed that the elderly were much concerned about clothing, and they preferred comfortable as well as fashionable designs. The elderly in the retirement homes complained of a lack of quantity and variety in clothing. They preferred natural fiber rather than blended fabrics. Flame resistance, thermal insulation, and flexibility of textile fabrics were found to be prime considerations in manufacturing and selecting clothing materials for the elderly. The health status of the surveyed elderly was generally good, but some poor eating habits were observed. Dietary nutrients intakes were generally sufficient, but several nutrients intakes were insufficient. The level of equipment in the kitchens of the institutions was low. Furthermore, the employment rate of dietitians in institutional settings was extremely low. This resulted in a lack of systematic foodservice management. Residents in the institution were generally satisfied with present life space and facilities but this was mainly because of abandonment, adaptation, and past experience. Optimal allocation of residents per bedroom and an adequate design for storage, bathroom, utility room, and dining room were recommended. The comparison of psychological status of the elderly living at home was more stable than those living in an institution. The emotional state of the elderly living in the institution was characterized by loneliness; they did not have close interpersonal relationships or future plans. An appropriate model for the elderly was developed on the basis of these findings.
The authors tried to look into the process of the individual psychotherapeutic experience of a 18-year-old male diagnosed as somatoform pain disorder or chronic pain syndrome. The patient had showed strong resistance to acceptance of his psychological problems. Some issues such as indications of psychotherapy for chronic pain, changing the mode of the treatment some problems around changing the therapist secondary gain and parents' attitude were discussed considering their relatedness to the outcome. The psychotherapy had lasted about 2 years and the result was estimated as fair.
