  • Although the recognition and emotion about space is subjective and individual, if standard is proposed through common factor, objective, quantified space image evaluation will be available. In addition, space image evaluation standard caused by recognitive-emotional factor can meet requests of space users and increase psychological satisfactions. The purpose of this study is to grasp the space image caused by recognitive-emotional factor in space with PAD model and analyze the evaluation of space image giving visual, recognitive and emotional effects. The analysis result revealed that 'joyfulness' and access-avoidance had a very similar distribution. The result means that space is evaluated with the degree of 'joyfulness' for space and it is led by approach-avoidance behavior. The recognition factor that forms and evaluates space image and decides approach-avoidance is expressed as adjective images such as 'fresh, joyful, light and static and its emotional factors are adjective images such as 'calm, allowable, joyful and quiet'.

  • This study aims to offer psychological stability and pleasure by reducing noise perception using appropriate visual information which fit to the situation and useful data for the soundscape design. The results can be summarized as follows; 1) In the Loudness evaluation of the visual information with green colored scenary showed lower evaluation rather than the other colors. 2) With the Green and Blue colored scenary with road traffic and shopping street alongside the road, lower perception of road traffic noise was showed. 3) With the White and Red scenary higher evaluation was showed than the original sound, but with the Green colored scenary lower evaluation was showed than the standard sound.

  • Preoperative and postoperative psychiatric evaluation were done for 51 patients who were undergoing open-heart surgery. The incidence of postoperative psychopathological complications following open-heart surgery was 27.5%. This rate is comparable to that of previous studies. Neurotic reactions occurred in eight patients, delirium in five, and acute psychotic reaction in one. Of those variables which were previously suggested to influence the high incidence, the demographic factors and the severity of preoperative illness were correlated with postoperative psychopathologic dysfunctions. No somatic variable associated with intraoperative or postoperative procedures has been proven to correlate. By preoperative psychiatric evaluations, the patients could be divided into three groups: the Anxiety group, the Denial group, and the Adjusted group. The most important psychological finding was that in patients who demonstrated a high degree of preoperative anxiety or who could not express preoperative anxiety, postoperative psychological complications developed more frequently. With these findings, the preoperative psychiatric interview was recommended for prevention and reduction of postoperative psychiatric complications.

  • Draft is defined as an unwanted local cooling of the human body caused by air movement. It is a serious problem in many ventilated or air conditioned buildings. Often draft complaints occur although measured velocities in the occupied zone maybe lower than prescribed in existing standards. Purpose of this study is to clarify the evaluation of thermal comfort based on temperature and air velocity in winter. Experiments were performed in an environmental chamber in winter. Indoor temperature and air velocity was artificially controlled. The experiments were performed to evaluate temperature conditions and air velocity conditions by physiological and psychological responses of human. According to physiological responses and psychological responses, it was clear that the optimum air velocity is about 0.15 m/s and 0.30 m/s.

  • Any compound which disrupts the integrity of psychological aspects of performance, in particular, cognitive ability and psychomotor function analogous to the psychological behaviors of routine life, is known to be behaviorally toxic. A significant level of behavioral toxicity will interfere with patient safety and quality of life, and also may be counter-therapeutic by exacerbating the condition that the drug was prescribed for. Now, behavioral toxicity of psychotropic drugs has become one of the main growth areas of psychopharmacological research. Evaluation of the potential of drug-induced behavioral toxicity is important not only to the experimental researcher involved in human psychopharmacology, but also to the clinical practitioner treating psychiatric patients. This article attempts to describe behavioral toxicity of the three classes of psychotropic drugs - benzodiazepines, antidepressants and neuroleptics. After a brief discussion of some methodological issues arising in the investigation of behavioral toxicity, each of these drug classes is reviewed in the context of practical importance rather than purely scientific concern. The last session summarizes some suggestions for future studies on drug-induced behavioral toxicity.

  • For the accurate evaluations of influence of construction noise, it is necessary to investigate not only physical characteristics of construction noise but also the subjective psycho-acoustical respects of individual persons. To develope the effective evaluation procedures for construction noise, we investigated Korean vocabularies which can express the feelings for construction noise, and analyzed psychological factors influencing on the subjective feelings of persons, through a series of psycho-acoustical experiments to construction noise. As a result of, it was found that the construction noise sources including the six factors. And this study intends to get the basic data for the evaluations about construction noise.

  • We developed a facial image generating technique that can manipulate facial impressions. The present study applied this impression transferring method to higher-order impressions such as "elegance" or "attractiveness" and confirmed the psychological validity of this method using the semantic differential method. Subsequently, we applied this method to two types of cognitive experiments. First, we examined the contributions of texture and shape on the facial impressions by using those face images for which the impressions have already been quantitatively manipulated based on this method. Second, we used such stimuli to examine the effect of facial impressions and attractiveness on the "mere exposure effect." Thus, we concluded that the impression transfer vector method is an effective tool to quantitatively manipulate the facial impressions in various cognitive studies.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the HRV(Heart Rate Variability) to visual and auditory stimulation. We analysed psychological effect and HRV of music, light, and music with light. The results show that HRV pattern is significantly related to the psychological effect, and HRV spectrum is useful to extract more information when various stimulation are presented.

  • A psychological experiment is conducted by using the method of selected description to find out appropriate terms for expressing the attributes of sounds. It is true that the term is an important clue to estimate the sensation or emotion of sounds even though it does not directly express them. On the basis of the results, it is found in the subjective impression that adjectives are classified into 8 types of group: "pleasant and bright", "weak", "mild and beautiful", "shocking", "unpleasant", powerful", "dark", and "dull" feeling. Also, it is found that "loud", "noisy" and "annoying" terms have the meaning of "strong, powerful and magnificant", "metallic and clamorous", and "unpleasant and unpleasing" feeling as a meaning Korean language respectively.ot;, "metallic and clamorous", and "unpleasant and unpleasing" feeling as a meaning Korean language respectively.nguage respectively.

  • Vulvodynia is the term used to describe unexplained vulvar pain, sexual dysfunction, and the resultant psychological disability. Vulvodynia may cause physical disabilities, psychological or emotional distress, sexual dysfunction and limitation of daily activities. But its etiologies and treatments are not defined yet. In vulvodynia, the first method of treatment is conservative treatment. surgery is carried out on patients who have failed consevative therapy. In conservative therapy, the rate of improvements is low, 30-40%Surgical procedures are effective in almost patients, but the efficacy is not known in patients with the riskiness. This study is designed to find best way of evaluation about the vulvodynia.
