어머니 상위정서양육방식과 청소년 자녀의 심리적 적응 및 우울감의 관계 : 모-자녀 대화시간의 조절효과를 중심으로 (The Relationships between Maternal Meta-Emotion Philosophy, Adolescent's Psychological Adjustment and Depression : The Moderating Effects of Mother-Adolescent Communication Time)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effects of mother-adolescent communication time on the relationship between maternal meta-emotion philosophy, adolescent psychological adjustment and depression. The participants for this study comprised 181 first and second grade high school students and their mothers, residing in Seoul. The results of the analyses indicated that, (a) maternal disapproving is negatively correlated to adolescents' positive world views, and that maternal laissez-faire is also negatively correlated to adolescents' emotional responsiveness. However, a positive correlation is revealed between maternal emotion-coaching and adolescents' positive self-esteem. (b) It is evident that adolescents' emotional responsiveness is influenced by maternal laissez-faire, and that adolescents' positive self-esteem is influenced by emotion-coaching. It also indicated that mother-adolescent communication time is influenced by dismissing as well as laissez-faire meta-emotion philosophy. (c) It revealed that mother-adolescent communication time, in part, has a meaningful moderating effect on the relationship between meta-emotion philosophy and adolescent depression. Therefore, the present study indicates that even if maternal disapproving, laissez-faire, or dismissing is practiced, adolescent depression levels decrease as mother-adolescent time lengthens.

생태학적 가족복지모형을 적용한 가족생활주기에 따른 심리적 복지 (Psychological Wellbeing across the Family Life Cycle based on Bioecological Family Welfare Model)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychological wellbeing as applied to the bioecological family life welfare model, concerning individual attributes, family backgrounds, and family processes across the family life cycles. Based on Bronfenbrenner's bioecological perspective, the "bioecological family welfare model", which includes person (individual attributes), context (family background), process (mechanism - family process), and time (the family life cycles), was applied as a research paradigm for this study. The sample for the questionnaire study comprised for 900 families, considering the family life cycle in Busan and the Kyungnam area. The families were categorized into 6 family life cycles based on Duvall and Hill's family life cycle. For the final analysis, 628 families were used. According to the path analysis results, the length of commitment before marriage and self-esteem had significant effects on the stress coping ability. Several individual attributes and family backgrounds such as age, length of marriage, family life cycle, self-esteem and stress coping ability had significant effects on marital adjustment. The family life cycle and age were significant variables on family function. The significant variables on psychological wellbeing were monthly income, length of commitment before marriage, stress coping ability and marital adjustment. The regression model showed that the variables of the individual attributes, context and family process accounted for 51% of the psychological wellbeing. The results show that the suggested research model was significant and effective to explain the mechanism of psychological wellbeing. Individual attributes and family context have an impact on stress coping, marital adjustment, and family function, which in turn affect psychological wellbeing.

초등학교 고학년 아동의 사춘기 적응증진을 위한 학교기반 성교육체험 프로그램의 개발 및 효과 (Effects and Development of an Experience-based Sex Education Program for Adjustment to Puberty in Upper Elementary Students)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an experience-based sex education program to improve adjustment to puberty in elementary school students in the upper grades and to verify its effectiveness. Methods: This study had a pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were a total of 95 sixth-graders in Y city (experimental group: 48, control group: 47). The measurement variables were sexual knowledge, body image, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life. Four sessions of the experience-based sex education program to improve adjustment to puberty, consisting of 40 minutes per session, were provided to the experimental group. Results: Children's sexual knowledge, self-esteem, and satisfaction with life in the experimental group, which participated in the experience-based sexual education program to improve adjustment to puberty, showed a significant increase compared to the control group. However, there was no statistically significant difference in body image. Conclusion: This study presents the development of an experience-based sex education program for adjustment to puberty to overcome the shortcomings of existing sex education programs that are limited to sexual knowledge and attitudes, and also verified that the sexual knowledge, self-esteem, and life satisfaction of the elementary school students who were provided with the program improved meaningfully.

A Study on the Factors affecting on Codependency. -Focusing on Double ABCX Model-

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the factors influencing on Codependency of college students from Double ABCX model. This study examined the mediating relationship between boundary ambiguity, internal working model and psychological maladjustment, and then examined the moderating effects of Self-esteem, Social support and World view orientation. This study also examined the relationships of codependency with gender, enonomic level in college students. The results of the study are as follows. First, this study showed that codependency was related to economic level of college students. But it has not significant relationship with gender. Second, the moderating effects of Self-esteem, Social support and World view orientation was not significant. Third, mediating effects of Codependency on Boundary ambiguity, Internal working model and Psychological maladjustment were significant. This study suggested some theoretical and policy implications basing on this analytical results.

학교폭력피해경험이 우울에 미치는 종단적 연구: 자아존중감과 자아탄력성의 매개효과 (A Longitudinal Study of Bullying Victimization and Depression: Mediating Effects of Self-esteem and Self-resilience)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of self-esteem and self-resilience while identifying the relationship between bullying victimization (being bullied) and depression based on a longitudinal study design. Methods: Participants were adolescent cohort of 1,971 middle school students participating in 2013 and 2014 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey conducted by National Youth Policy Institute. Data were analyzed by Pearson's Correlation and regression. Results: The major findings are as follows. First, self-esteem and self-resilience were positively related to each other and negatively related to depression and bullying victimization. Second, bullying victimization effected the level of depression of adolescents and self-esteem played a mediating role between bullying victimization and depression while self-resilience did not. Conclusion: The results suggest that emotional factors continue to play an important role in promoting psychological adjustment of victims of bullying. Therefore, interventions are more likely to be successful if they focus on emotional skills development of adolescents.

Stressful Life Event, Close Relationship, Self-Esteem, and Depression in College Women

  • Koreans rarely complain of depression or other psychological problems because mental illness is viewed as a stigmatizing and threatening experience. This study examined the relationships among stressful life events, close relationships, self-esteem. and depression in 400 college women aged 18 to 30 years. Depression was positively related to stressful life events (r=.21, p=<.01). Depression and stressful life events were negatively associated with self-esteem (r=-.67; r=-.11, p<.01; p<.05 respectively). Close relationships with women and men friends were each negatively associated with depression (r=-.24; r=-.16, p<.01; p<.05). Close relationships with women and men friends were positively associated with self-esteem (r=.23; r=.20, p<.01). Forty nine percent of variance in depression rates in this sample was explained. After adjustment for degrees of freedom, a total of 49% of the variance in depression was explained by self-esteem and stressful life events. This investigation into the relationships among the variables influencing depression for college women is a critical issue as health professionals need to be aware that college women are at considerable risk for depression. Effective psychosocial interventions are those designed for specific populations to meet unique care needs and since young Korean women may be at considerable risk for depression.

전문대생의 심리적특성, 직업가치, 대학생활적응간의 영향관계 (Psychological Characteristics of College St, Work Values, and Effect Relationship between Adjustment to College)

  • 본 연구에서는 전문대생의 심리적 특성과, 직업가치, 대학생활적응간의 영향관계를 규명함으로써 대학생활의 중요성 및 대학생활지도의 기초가 되고자 하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 첫째로, 전문대생의 심리적 특성은 대학생활적응에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 자아존중감, 자아정체감의 형성이 어떻게 되느냐에 따라서 대학생활적응이 잘 된다는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 둘째, 전문대생의 심리적 특성은 직업가치형성에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 직업가치는 대학생활적응에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

피학대아동의 가정복귀 후 심리행동적 적응에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Factors Related to Psycho-Behavioral Adjustment in Abused Children Returning to Their Homes After Out-of-Home Care)

  • This study examined conditions and influential factors of psycho-behavioral adjustment in abused children who had been returned home after out-of-home care. Subjects were selected nationwide from the Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse. Subjects were 54 cooperative children selected from among 126 returned children : they were older than 11 years of age and had experienced more than one day in out-of-home care between January 2002 and December 2003. Findings were: (1)children had such psychological adjustment symptoms as withdrawal, depression, or anxiety, rather than symptoms of misdeeds and aggression. (2) Level of self-esteem and re-abuse were the great influential factors in psycho-behavioral adjustment. This result shows that the processes of out-of-home care and returning home remain important issues for abused children.

실직자 가족의 문제와 대처, 우울감 및 심리문제 해결지원요구도 -실직자 아내를 중심으로- (Problem Coping Strategies Depression and the Social Support Needs for Psychological Adjustment of Unemployed Husband's Wives)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the problem coping strategies and depression of unemployed husband's wives and to analysis the social support(education and counseling program) needs for their psychological adjustment. The subjects were 139 unemployed husband's wives living in Seoul city and Kyungi-do province. The questionnaire method was used for data gathering. The major findings were as follows" 1) Wives perceived the most negative change of unemployed husband. Wives' depression was influenced by self-esteem evaluation of husband's coping behavior weak health passive coping strategies and negative change of husband and marital relation. 2) Wives needed education and counseling support the most in the area stress & mental health problem marital conflict and marital communication. The result of this study were discussed in the relation with the contents of education and counseling program for unemployed husbands' wives.

자기애적 성격과 직무스트레스와의 관계에 대한 고찰 (A study of relationships between narcissism and job stress)

  • As the modern society is called the narcissistic society, the narcissism is widespread in the personality of individuals and the society at large. In consideration of this side, this study explored for several characteristics of the narcissistic personality and the job stress, and explored for the relationships between the two things theoretically. The narcissism is an attempt to repair self-esteem weakened by the splitting anxiety, the lack and the pathological fusion of self-structure. The job stress is a factor that a characteristic of the job influenced on the behavioral and affective response of the person on the job directly or indirectly. This study selected organizational justices, organizational constraints, role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload, organizational climate, interpersonal relations and career development as factors of the job stress. This study viewed that the stress is made from an interaction between environmental stimulus and personal particular reaction by defining the stress as an interaction model of stimulus-response and personal reaction is caused by psychological adjustment process, personal differences. On this occasion, this study discussed that the narcissistic personality is easy to get stress and weak in the job stress with regarding the personality as a mediation variation of psychological process. As a result, the narcissists estimated themselves positively and their self-esteem is high, but they excessively showed a self biased cognitive and affective response about the negative feedback to protect themselves. Moreover, this positive estimate on themselves and high self-esteem was vulnerable and weak in the self threat. In this view, the narcissistic personality is easy to get more job stress such as organizational justices, organizational constraints, role conflict, role ambiguity, role overload, organizational climate, interpersonal relations and career development.
