Status of Helicopter Rotor Noise Technology Development in KARI (KARI의 헬리콥터 로터 소음관련 기술개발 현황)

  • Helicopter noise has been considered as one of major design factors like a performance and safety since the public acceptance, comfortability and stealth aspects were important for customers. According to the airworthiness regulation, the noise levels in throe different flight conditions shall comply with the specific limits. Main and tail rotors noise is most dominant in far field due to the low and mid range frequency characteristics. It is an air-born noise so That the accurate aerodynamic data is necessary for the accurate noise prediction. In KARI, low noise main and tail rotors as well as analysis codes have been developed since 2000. The approach for low noise main rotor is a kind of tip modifications, so called twin vortices tip to reduce the BVI noise. Analysis results show the 9.3dB reduction in terms of pseudo EPNL. The uneven spacing concept is applied for low noise tail rotor. Three or four decibel noise reduction is achieved by new optimized uneven spacing. Rotor noise and aerodynamic prediction codes have been improved also.

Resampling Feedback Documents Using Overlapping Clusters (중첩 클러스터를 이용한 피드백 문서의 재샘플링 기법)

  • Typical pseudo-relevance feedback methods assume the top-retrieved documents are relevant and use these pseudo-relevant documents to expand terms. The initial retrieval set can, however, contain a great deal of noise. In this paper, we present a cluster-based resampling method to select better pseudo-relevant documents based on the relevance model. The main idea is to use document clusters to find dominant documents for the initial retrieval set, and to repeatedly feed the documents to emphasize the core topics of a query. Experimental results on large-scale web TREC collections show significant improvements over the relevance model. For justification of the resampling approach, we examine relevance density of feedback documents. The resampling approach shows higher relevance density than the baseline relevance model on all collections, resulting in better retrieval accuracy in pseudo-relevance feedback. This result indicates that the proposed method is effective for pseudo-relevance feedback.

  • 모뎀이나 통신장비는 선로잡음이나 기타 노이즈의 영향을 고려하여 시스템을 측정하고 평가해야 한다. 그러나 실제의 노이즈환경을 구현하고 측정하기란 매우 어렵고, 비용 또한 무시할 수 없기 때문에 잡음이나 노이즈를 인위적으로 발생시켜 시스템을 측정하게 된다 그러나 시스템이 고속으로 동작하고 스펙이 복잡하면 잡음을 원하는 스펙에 만족하도륵 구현하기가 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 DCT를 이용한 필터계수 생성과, 의사잡음(Pseudo Noise)을 이용한 잡음발생 알고리즘을 제안하며 시스템의 속도와 사용 주파수에 관계없이 스펙을 만족하는 잡음발생 장치를 제안한다.

  • In this paper, nonlinear active noise control(ANC) of a 3rd-order Volterra system, which is robust to background noise variation, is proposed along with a variable step-size Gauss-Seidel pseudo affine projection(VSSGS-PAP) algorithm. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach yields better nonlinear ANC performance in a background noise variation environment, compared with the conventional methods for the nonlinear ANC.

  • It is important to diminish noise source of an electric motor used in appliances. We studied on the noise reduction of BLDC motor to drive a fan. Especially, this study was focused on detent torque caused by interaction between a permanent magnet of rotor and groove in stator. This source and rotating system brought about a resonance. This paper showed that the higher harmonic component of this torque had a main factor to lessen noise. So, we had designed new magnets with shape like a peanut and pseudo-sinusoidal flux density for low-noise BLDC motor in refrigerator.

  • In this paper we propose a new image encryption method which utilizes Complemented MLCA(Complemented Maximum Length Cellular Automata) based on IBCA(Intermediate Boundary CA) and 2D CAT(Cellular Automata Transform). The encryption method is processed in the following order. First, Complemented MLCA is used to create a PN (pseudo noise) sequence, which matches the size of the original image. And, the original image goes through a XOR operation with the created sequence to convert the image into Complemented MLCA image. Then, the gateway value is set to produce a 2D CAT basis function. The produced basis function is multiplied by the encrypted MLCA image that has been converted to process the encipherment. Lastly, the stability analysis and PSNR(Peak Signal to Noise Ratio) verifies that the proposed method holds a high encryption quality status.

  • Digital watermarking has similar concepts with channel coding thechnique for transferring data with minimizing error in noise environment, since it should be robust to various kinds of data manipulation for protecting copyrights of multimedia data. This paper proposes a digital watermarking technique which is robust to various kinds of data manipulation. Intellectual property rights information is encoded using a convolutional code, and block-interleaving technique is applied to prevent successive loss of encoded data. Encoded intelloctual property rithts informationis embedded using spread spectrum technique which is robust to cata manipulation. In order to reconstruct intellectual property rights information, watermark signalis detected by covariance between watermarked image and pseudo rando noise sequence which is used to einbed watermark. Embedded intellectual property rights information is obtaned by de-interleaving and cecoding previously detected wtermark signal. Experimental results show that block interleaving watermarking technique can detect embedded intellectial property right informationmore correctly against to attacks like Gaussian noise additon, filtering, and JPEG compression than general spread spectrum technique in the same PSNR.

Investigating Natural Frequency Analysis and Measurement of Railway Vehicle to Avoid Resonance (공진회피를 위한 철도차량의 고유진동수 해석 및 측정에 관한 연구)

  • This paper deals with the natural frequency analysis and two experiments to evaluate first twisting and bending natural frequency of railway vehicle. The KS R 9228 testing method is generally performed as pseudo FRF(frequency response function) which is widely used by two accelerometers. The exciting method is utilized using the load weight(1 ton release). The modal testing is used to verify KS R 9228 testing result and the natural frequency analysis result. The first twisting and bending natural frequency should be above 10 Hz by resonance which is mostly generated between bogie and vehicle frame exciting low frequency. The first twisting and bending natural frequency of railway vehicle are successfully verified between analysis and test.

Maximum Control Force of Velocity-dependent Damping Devices Using Response Estimation Models (응답예측모델을 이용한 속도의존형 감쇠장치의 최대제어력 산정)

  • In this study, for estimating responses of a controlled structure and determining the maximum control force of velocity-dependent damping devices, three estimation models such as Fourier envelope convex model, probability model, and Newmark design spectrum are used. For this purpose, a procedure is proposed for estimating actual velocity using pseudo-velocity and this procedure considers the effects of damping ratio increased by the damping device. Time history results indicate that actual velocity should be used for estimating accurate maximum control force of damping device and Newmark design spectrum modified by the proposed equation gives the best estimation results for over all period structures.

Stochastic Error Compensation Method for RDOA Based Target Localization in Sensor Network (통계적 오차보상 기법을 이용한 센서 네트워크에서의 RDOA 측정치 기반의 표적측위)

  • A recursive linear stochastic error compensation algorithm is newly proposed for target localization in sensor network which provides range difference of arrival(RDOA) measurements. Target localization with RDOA is a well-known nonlinear estimation problem. Since it can not solve with a closed-form solution, the numerical methods sensitive to initial guess are often used before. As an alternative solution, a pseudo-linear estimation scheme has been used but the auto-correlation of measurement noise still causes unacceptable estimation errors under low SNR conditions. To overcome these problems, a stochastic error compensation method is applied for the target localization problem under the assumption that a priori stochastic information of RDOA measurement noise is available. Apart from the existing methods, the proposed linear target localization scheme can recursively compute the target position estimate which converges to true position in probability. In addition, it is remarked that the suggested algorithm has a structural reconciliation with the existing one such as linear correction least squares(LCLS) estimator. Through the computer simulations, it is demonstrated that the proposed method shows better performance than the LCLS method and guarantees fast and reliable convergence characteristic compared to the nonlinear method.
