  • The diet had an effect(P<0.05) on the nutritional contents of ostrich meat during 4 month of frozen storage. As frozen storage increased up to 4 months, pJ, water holding capacity(WHC) and myofibrillar protein solu-bility($\mu$g/$\mu$l) were reduced (P<0.05), how-ever, increased drip loss(DL, %) was found in ostrich muscle from forage fed ostriches, This study suggests that forage fed ostriches, This study suggests that frozedn storage(-2$0^{\circ}C$)up to 4 months in ostrich FCL muscle (outside strip)could be reduced protein functionality, due to increase in DL. decrease in WHC, and markedly decrease in myofibrillar protein solubility($\mu$g/$\mu$l).

  • Three tropical legumes, very different in growth form, but believed to be of potential value for animal production were evaluated by substituting the leaf meal made from each for lucerne at the level used in a standard diet for growing rabbits (50%). Each leaf meal had a nitrogen content of close to 3.5% and contributed about 60% of the crude protein in the diet. Albizia lebbeck and Clitoria ternatea showed no evidence of toxic or antinutrient effects. The protein digestibility of the complete diets were 66 and 61% respectively, implying a protein digestibility of the leaf of at least 50%. Both species would be suitable for practical production diets for rabbits and should be excellent for ruminants. In contrast, the diet containing Desmanthus virgatus had a protein digestibility of only 40%, implying that only about 15% of the leaf protein was available. The leaves showed marked non-enzymic browning on drying. When dried this species is clearly unsuitable as a feed for rabbits and possibly also for ruminants. However, it may well be valuable as fresh forage.

  • This trial was conducted to determine the effects of including canola protein concentrate in diets fed to broiler chickens on nutrient digestibility and broiler performance (0-21 days). A total of 180, day-old, male broiler chicks weighing an average of 52.8${\pm}$0.6 g were assigned to one of six dietary treatments in a completely randomized design. The control diet was based on corn and soybean meal and contained 15% canola meal. The experimental diets contained 3, 6, 9, 12 or 15% canola protein concentrate added at the expense of canola meal. There were five birds per pen and six replicate pens per treatment. Feed and water were available ad libitum throughout the 21-day experiment. Chromic oxide (0.35%) was added to all diets as a digestibility marker and was fed throughout the experimental period. The digestibility of dry matter, energy and phosphorus increased linearly (p<0.01) with increasing levels of canola protein concentrate. Although nutrient digestibility was higher for birds fed diets containing canola protein concentrate, these improvements did not translate into improvements in broiler performance. Weight gain was unaffected (p = 0.24) by level of canola protein concentrate. Feed intake was significantly increased (p<0.01) with the result that feed conversion tended to be poorer (p = 0.07) for birds fed diets containing canola protein concentrate. Mortality was also unaffected (p = 0.56) by dietary treatment.

  • This study was carried out to determine the usefulness of imprint cytology for detecting p53 protein in breast carcinoma. NCL-DO7 (Novocastra, U.K.) was used to detect p53 protein immunocytochemically. A total of 33 cases was studied, Immunostaining of imprint cytology with NCL-DO7 was positive in 64% (21/33) and showed relatively high coincident rate (80%) with immunostaining of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded specimen p53 protein was related to negative estrogen receptor status, but not to the nuclear grade, lymph node metastasis, or tumor size. The fact that p53 protein expression was not related to nuclear grade might be due to predominance of nuclear grade 3. It was easier to determine the nuclear grade is one of the most important prognostic factors, in imprint cytology than in tissue specimen. p53 protein tended to be stained more strongly in imprint cytology than in tissue. It is concluded that the application of imprint cytology in p53 protein detection can be performed easily, and that it may contribute to the evaluation of prognostic factors in breast carcinoma.

  • In this study a purified protein was prepared from pork meat. The product consisted of 0.5% moisture, 3.0% ash, 5.5% ether extract and 88.7% crude protein. Also, a meat oligopeptide mixture was prepared from a pepsin digest of the protein preparation. The two preparations were colorless and odorless powders with low fat contents. The nutritive values of the pork meat protein and oligopeptide mixture were estimated by two methods, one using biological value(BV) and the other employing net protein utilization(NPU) by the nitrogen balance method. The meat oligopeptide mixture showed an excellent nutritive value by both methods. The true digestibilites of both the pork meat protein and the oligopeptide mixture were more than 98%. The above results indicate that the oligopeptide mixture is an excellent material as a dietary nitrogen source for many purposes.

  • Oral cancer is a common neoplasm in humans and etiologic mechanism is not well known, so treatment and evaluation of oral cancer is difficult problem. Traditional TNM classification between prognosis of tumors and classification of histopathologic differentiation has problem like lack of objectivity through operators. In molecular biology, cancer is developed by alteration of activation of oncogene and/or inactivation of tumor suppressor gene. The p53 gene, one of the tumor suppresor genes, is believed to play an important role through mutation and overexpression in the progression of human cancers. The p53 mutation is most frequent genetic disorder in humans. The Cyclin D1 has tumor suppresion activity by regulation of cell cycle. The Cyclin D1 regulate activity of Rb tumor suppresor gene by stimulation of CDK4 The purpose of this study was to observe the expression of p53 protein and Cyclin D1 in oral squamous cell carcinoma, and to get expectation of the malignancy and prognosis of oral squamous cell carcinoma. Using the 15 cases of squamous cell carcinoma and the microscopic H&E and immunohistochemical stain. We divided it into 3 groups according to the stain extent, clinical stage and histologic differentiation. The results were as follows1.In the features of immunohistochemical stain of 15 cases of squamous cell carcinoma, positive reaction of p53 was identified in 8 cases (53.3%) and positive reaction of cyclin D1 was identified in 3 cases (20%). Both positive reaction of p53 protein and Cyclin D1 was show in only one case. 2.8 of p53 positive cases were linked in 87.5% of the end stage tumor, 62.5% of neck node involvement, 87.5% of poorly and moderately histopathplogic differentiation. 3. All 3 of Cyclin D1 positive cases were linked in the end stage tumor, neck node involvement, poorly and moderately histopathologic differentiation. From above results, expression of p53 protein was identified in 53.3% of 15 cases and these results mean oral squamous cell carcinoma was drived by mutation of p53 protein. Especially, highly positive reaction of p53 protein and Cyclin D1 was identified in cases that involvement of neck lymph node and the end stage tumors and it means that the evaluation of p53 protein and Cyclin D1 was useful for evaluation of malignant tumor as specific tumor marker.

  • Purpose: Gongju is a famous area for chestnuts, which contain various nutrients and phytochemicals. This study aimed to develop gochujang items using Gongju chestnuts and analyze nutritional properties for the best item by sensory evaluation in order to increase marketability of chestnut processed foods. Methods: Gochujang was prepared, and nutrient contents of gochujang were analyzed according to the methods of the food fair by Korea Food Research Institute. Three kinds of gochujang, including general (control)-, dried chestnut powder-, and chestnut syrup- were prepared. Sensory evaluation was performed on three kinds of gochujang by 45 adults, including males and females (20's~60's years of age). Results: Chestnut syrup-gochujang was evaluated as significantly higher than general- or dried chestnut powder-gochujang by sensory evaluation. Thus, nutrition facts were produced for chestnut syrup gochujang. Nutrient contents per 100 g of chestnut syrup gochujang and traditional gochujang in the literature were similar in terms of total carbohydrates and fat, whereas protein content was higher and sodium content was lower in chestnut syrup gochujang than in traditional gochujang in the literature. Conclusions: The results imply that chestnut syrup gochujang has nutritional benefits such as higher content of protein and lower content of sodium than traditional gochujang in the literature, in addition with its good taste. Therefore, chestnut syrup gochujang may have high usage potential. There is a need to improve the quality and storage of chestnut syrup gochujang through future study.

  • Many real-world applications information are organized and represented with graph structure which is often used for representing various ubiquitous networks, such as World Wide Web, social networks, and protein-protein interactive networks. In particular, similarity evaluation between graphs is a challenging issue in many fields such as graph searching, pattern discovery, neuroscience, chemical compounds exploration and so forth. There exist some algorithms which are based on vertices or edges properties, are proposed for addressing this issue. However, these algorithms do not take both vertices and edges similarities into account. Towards this end, this paper pioneers a novel approach for similarity evaluation between graphs based on formal concept analysis. The feature of this approach is able to characterize the relationships between nodes and further reveal the similarity between graphs. Therefore, the highlight of our approach is to take vertices and edges into account simultaneously. The proposed algorithm is evaluated using a case study for validating the effectiveness of the proposed approach on detecting and measuring the similarity between graphs.
