The following research conclusions were made, relative to the experiments of the textiles of fire fighters Protective Clothing. 1. When the body protection efficiency such as the thickness, the strength and heat resistance are considered, Nomex(N) is tuned out the best outer shelf, Gore-tex(KG) the best moisture barrier, and Wool-felt(WC) the best thermal barrier. 2. In the hygienic and sanitary efficiency also, N is turned out the best outer shelf, KG the best moisture barrier, and WC the best thermal barrier in its degree of water resistance, water vapour permeability, and air permeability. 3. In the washing and maintenance efficiency, too. N is turned out the best outer shell, KG the best moisture barrier, and WC the best thermal barrier, being considered the material's rate of contraction, the changing rate of frame resistance, water resistance, and water vapour permeability. 4. When considered the frame resistance against the reflection tape and reflection efficiency, O is the best material for it marks the highest score in the frame resistance and reflective effect.
In this paper we proposed an easy method to calculate the thickness of primary protective barrier for radiographic equipment. The concrete was selected for the shielding material. The area of protective barrier was divided into a controlled area and a noncontrolled area. For the computation of thickness, the data in NCRP Report 49 and 51 was used. For radiographic equipments whose maximum tubevoltages are 100 and 150 kVp, the thicknesses of concrete were calculated as a function of distance. From the calculated data, four analytical models were acquired by fitting an exponential decay function. From the equations acquired by this study, the thickness of primary protective barrier can be calculated approximately.
The logical development of an optimum structural shielding design and the computation of protective barriers for high energy radiation therapy room, Toshiba 13 MeV. are presented. We obtained following results by comparison in between the precalculating values and actual survey after complete installation of radiogenerating units. 1. The calculating formula for the protective barrier written in NCRP report #34(1970) was the most ideal and economic calculating methods for the construction of barrier and to determine thickness for the meeting requirements of the number of patients of 80-100 in daily treatment. 2. The precalculating values of protective barrier are 5 times more protective than that of actual measurement. It is depending on radiation workload and utilization the datas most sequrely. 3. The dose rate during exposure are 2-10 mR/hr at out of the door and the controll room. 4. The foul smelling and ozone gas production from long exposure of cancer patients cannot be eliminated when the room is ill ventilated.
Background: Ginsenosides (GS) have potential value as cosmetic additives for prevention of skin photoaging. However, their protective mechanisms against skin barrier damage and their active monomeric constituents are unknown. Methods: GS monomer types and their relative proportions were identified. A UVB-irradiated BALB/c hairless mouse model was used to assess protective effects of GS components on skin epidermal thickness and transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Skin barrier function, reflected by filaggrin (FLG), involucrin (IVL), claudin-1 (Cldn-1), and aquaporin 3 (AQP3) levels and MAPK phosphorylation patterns, were analyzed in UVB-irradiated hairless mice or HaCaT cells. Results: Total GS monomeric content detected by UPLC was 85.45% and was largely attributed to 17 main monomers that included Re (16.73%), Rd (13.36%), and Rg1 (13.38%). In hairless mice, GS ameliorated UVB-induced epidermal barrier dysfunction manifesting as increased epidermal thickness, increased TEWL, and decreased stratum corneum water content without weight change. Furthermore, GS treatment of UVB-irradiated mice restored protein expression levels and epidermal tissue distributions of FLG, IVL, Cldn-1, and AQP3, with consistent mRNA and protein expression results obtained in UVB-irradiated HaCaT cells (except for unchanging Cldn-1 expression). Mechanistically, GS inhibited JNK, p38, and ERK phosphorylation in UVB-irradiated HaCaT cells, with a mixture of Rg2, Rg3, Rk3, F2, Rd, and Rb3 providing the same protective MAPK pathway inhibition-associated upregulation of IVL and AQP3 expression as provided by intact GS treatment. Conclusion: GS protection against UVB-irradiated skin barrier damage depends on activities of six ginsenoside monomeric constituents that inhibit the MAPK signaling pathway.
Protective clothing for firefighters typically consists of a flame resistant outer shell and inner layers. The inner layers are generally composed of a moisture barrier and a thermal barrier. On performing the task in fire place the heat and perspiration generated from the body become trapped inside the protective clothing. Those heat and moisture result into heat-stress and physical fatigue of fire fighter, which hinder the work. Therefore, the system of clothing designs and material layers must be chosen carefully to balance protection and comfort. 3 kinds of protective clothing of 3 layer structure were used in the experiment of physiological comfort. From the comparison of wear trials with the 3 kinds of layers in firefighters clothing, it indicates that the moisture dissipation of A+B2+C was highest, following A+BI+C andA+B3+C. And the heat dissipation of A+BI+C and A+B2+C were better than A+B3+C. In the protective clothing with A+B3+C, heat and perspiration generated through exercise remained in clothing system long and caused discomfort.

Codium fragile has been traditionally used in oriental medicine to treat enterobiasis, dropsy, and dysuria, and it has been shown to possess many biological properties. Atopic dermatitis (AD) is one of the types of skin inflammation and barrier disruption, which leads to chronic inflammatory skin diseases. In the current investigation, the protective effects of C. fragile extract (CFE) on anti-inflammation and skin barrier improvement were investigated. In LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells, nitric oxide generation and the expression levels of interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-4, IL-6, iNOS, COX-2, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF)-α were reduced by CFE. CFE also inhibited the phosphorylation of NF-κB-p65, ERK, p-38, and JNK. Additionally, CFE showed inhibitory activity on TSLP and IL-4 expression in HaCaT cells stimulated with TNF-α/interferon- gamma (IFN-γ). Enhanced expression of factors related to skin barrier function, FLG, IVL, and LOR, was confirmed. These findings implied that CFE may be used as a therapeutic agent against AD due to its skin barrier-strengthening and anti-inflammatory activities, which are derived from natural marine products.

Bicationic minerals such as calcium and magnesium are known to protect the skin barrier. The principal objective of this study was to evaluate the skin barrier protective effects of mineral water, which is composed of calcium, magnesium, manganese, and fluorine. UVB irradiation induces a destruction of tight junction (TJ) components. The TJ permeability barrier was also disrupted by UVB irradiation. We employed a skin equivalent model to assess the efficacy of mineral water in this regard. Mineral water maintained the structure of the skin equivalents following UVB irradiation. The results of the TJ permeability assay showed that mineral water helped to maintain the TJ permeability barrier after UVB irradiation in skin equivalent model. Mineral water supported the structure of TJ components and restored the occludin protein level in differentiated normal human keratinocytes after UVB irradiation. In conclusion, we found out the protective effect of mineral water against UVB irradiation.
We have test chemical resistance and flame retardant properties of chemical protective clothing Fabrics by the ASTM and ISO standard methods. The flame retardant test results show that polyethylene is poor in flame resistance but fluoroelastomer add to decabrom is excellent in flame resistance. Especially, nowadays heat protective clothing for firefighters, which is aluminized film layers laminated to aramid fabric, show the excellent flame resistance. However, the chemical resistance test results show that aluminium is high corrosive in 4M NaOH solution alone. The problem of corrosion can be overcome by employing multiple barrier film. Also, based on the result of flame retardant test, duel skin of polymer barrier film add to aluminum film and single skin of fluorinated rubber with flame retardant materials seems to be fit for the chemical protective clothing. Also the thermal protection and heat transfer test results show that TPP and HTI is increased assured that the continued study on fire risk assessment & chemical resistance of chemical protective clothing fabrics will contribute to the upgrade the performances of chemical protective clothing fabrics.
T-helper-17 (Th17) cells and related IL-17-producing (type17) lymphocytes are abundant at the epithelial barrier. In response to bacterial and fungal infection, the signature cytokines IL-17A/F and IL-22 mediate the antimicrobial immune response and contribute to wound healing of injured tissues. Despite their protective function, type17 lymphocytes are also responsible for various chronic inflammatory disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and colitis associated cancer (CAC). A deeper understanding of type17 regulatory mechanisms could ultimately lead to the discovery of therapeutic strategies for the treatment of chronic inflammatory disorders and the prevention of cancer. In this review, we discuss the current understanding of the development and function of type17 immune cells at the intestinal barrier, focusing on the impact of microbiota-immune interactions on intestinal barrier homeostasis and disease etiology.
