Broadcasting System Compliant with MPEG-2/4 IPMPX

  • In this paper, we present an intellectual property management and protection (IPMP) system in a broadcasting environment to provide mechanisms for copyright and contents protection that are compliant with the MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 IPMP Extension (IPMPX) specifications. The technology for processing IPMP related information was exploited, and a terminal model has been successfully designed and implemented. In addition, interoperability, which is the main objective of MPEG-2/4 IPMPX, has been addressed in detail. The experimental results show that the implemented system performs the IPMP process well, meeting the requirements of a broadcasting environment.

  • By integrating WDM to OPS unit which plays an improtant role for the reliability of CPN, we made it possible to provide CATV, VOD, and high-speed data services simultaneously and to meet easily the requirements for new services in the future. For the design of optimal system, the link analysis of power budget has been perfomred. Also, the prototyped system has been tested with STM-1 level signals to confirm functions such as transmission, distribution, and protection. The results proved that when occurred out-of-order or recovery of ONU, the system did the pertinent switching with minimum loss for high-speed data services. Also for video distribution services, the system has distributed STM-1 level signals sucessfully.

  • 차세대 신형원전에서는 디지털 기술의 적용을 기본 설계 요건으로 제시하고 있다. 차세대 원전의 노심보호계통 (Core Protection Calculator Systems; CPCS)은 원전의 안전성을 보장하기 위한 부분으로 이 부분이 올바르게 작성되고, 검증되어야 함은 분명하다. 현재 이부분은 소프트웨어로 개발 중에 있으며 개발 단계에 있어서 시작단계인 요구명세 단계에 있다. 요구 명세 단계의 오류는 소프트웨어 개발 단계 중 소프트웨어의 품질에 가장 영향을 많이 미치는 단계로 알려져 있으므로 이 단계를 정확하게 수행하여야 한다. 안전성이 중요한 소프트웨어를 명세하는 데 있어서 우선 정의되어야 하는 것은 어떤 절차를 통해서 어떤 방법으로 할지를 결정하여 그 절차를 정하여야 한다. 기존에 소프트웨어 요구 명세에 대한 표준안이 존재하기는 하지만, 이러한 표준안들은 개념적인 언어들로 쓰여져 있기 때문에 실제 소프트웨어의 개발 과정에 사용하기 위해서는 구체적인 언어들로 다시 작성하여야 한다. 따라서, 소프트웨어 명세를 작성하기 위해서 절차와 방법에 대해서 정의하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 개략적인 명세 절차와 명세 방법등을 기술하였다.

  • Pulsed power systems consist of a capacitor bank, an isolated high-voltage charging power-supply, high-current bus-work for charging and discharging and a control system. In such pulsed power systems, the operating-lifetime of the capacitors is closely dependent on the voltage reversal. Hence, most capacitor-discharging systems includes crowbar circuits. The crowbar circuit prevents the capacitor recharging with reverse voltage. Usually it consists of crowbar resistors and high pulse-current diode-stacks connected in series. The requirements for the diode-stacks are fast-recovery time and high-voltage and large-current ratings, which results in the high cost of the pulsed-power system. This paper presents a protection scheme of a charging and discharging system of a 500kJ capacitor bank using a low-cost crowbar circuit and safety-fuses.

  • In this study, designs of protection fences such as the concrete median barrier and the guardrail were performed. The foreign standard of concrete median barrier was introduced and implemented without modification fitting to domestic vehicles and highway conditions. In a car accident, median barrier doesn't protect vehicles effectively, especially for heavy vehicles such as bus and heavy truck. Guardrail doesn't protect vehicle effectively, either. The purpose of this study is to develop the optimal performance design of concrete median barrier and design of guardrail using the design of experiment as well as crashworthiness analysis which is done by Pam-Crash. As a result of this study, an optimal design of concrete median barrier was obtained considering von Mises stress, volume and COG acceleration of truck. And design of guardrail satisfying the domestic requirements was obtained.

Electrical Machines and Drives for Potentially Explosive Atmospheres

  • This paper gives an overview of the requirements for electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres and describes how these are applied to electrical machines and drives in hazardous areas. The method by which equipment can be shown to be safe in a whole range of gases, by testing in a single test gas, is covered. It is shown how the more recently introduced methods of protection for hazardous areas, increased safety and nonsparking, are ideally suited to AC machines and drives. A novel method of measuring the fullload temperature rise of electrical machines for hazardous, and other areas, without the need to connect a mechanical load to the machine's drive shaft is explained.

Corrosion Protection of Automotive Steels by Novel Water-borne Primer Systems

  • Corrosion protection of automotive steels has traditionally been assured by using a zinc phosphate metal pretreatment followed by the deposition of a cathodic electrocoat system. This system has been developed and optimized over the years into a highly robust and dependable system with a high performance. However, in terms of efficiency and use of resources and energy, the need is now felt to develop a simpler system with fewer steps, shorter lines, less energy requirements (curing and e-coat deposition) and less stringent waste disposal requirement (phosphate sludge). We report here on the development of a one-step system that can possibly replace both the zinc phosphate and the e-coating processes. Such a system is based on the so-called superprimer concept that we have recently developed for the replacement of chromate pretreatment and chromate-containing primers in the aerospace industry. With some modifications, such systems can also be adapted for use in the automotive industry.

  • Technical issues of steel industry change along with other industrial progresses. Traditionally, steel protection from corrosion environment was the major issue and galvanic metal coatings were mainly used to extend the lifetime of steel products. Nowadays, requirements for steel have become more diversified. More various surface and material properties are required from different field of applications. Naturally, functional surface coating has become one of the most studied areas in steel industry. For functional surface coating, various process technologies and coating products are investigated. In this article, recent trends of functional coating technologies and products are introduced with brief technical descriptions of representative coating products.

  • Confidentiality is one of the most important requirements of information protection systems. The access control technique has been used to provide confidentiality, but it has fundamental problems in that it cannot prevent violations of confidentiality committed by authorized users. Information flow control is a technique introduced to resolve such problems, and many approaches based on programming languages have been proposed. However, it is not easy for a programmer to implement the technique at the source code level. Furthermore, the practicality of information flow control is difficult to demonstrate because it does not provide control over programs that have already been developed. This paper proposes a method that enables a practical information flow control through using a protected area, a separate part of computer system storage. Case studies are given to show its usefulness.

Citic Tower Construction Key Technology

  • Citic Tower is the first over-500 m-tall super highrise building in the world, located in the high seismic intensity area with paek ground acceleration over 0.2g in 475 years. This project is unique in its complexity, large volume, and challenging site conditions (zero site for construction). The traditional techniques can hardly meet safty, quality and schedule requirements of the construction. This article introduces the key construction technologies that are innovatively developed and applied in Citic Tower project construction, including intelligent super-high-rise building integrated construction platform system, independently developed by the CCTEB; Jump-Lift Elevator, which is the first of the kind with service height over 500 meters; combined temporary-and-permanent fire protection systems. The BIM technology is also applied in this project. Through technical innovation, and utilization of technologies, construction speed and safety had been greatly improved.
