  • It is difficult to identify attacker's real location when the attacker spoofs IP address in current IPv4-based Internet environment. If the attacks such as DDoS happen in the Internet, we can hardly expect the protection scheme to respond to these attacks in active or real-time manner. Many traceback techniques have been proposed to protect against these attacks, but most traceback schemes were designed to work with the IPv4-based Internet and found to be lack of verification of whether the traceback related information is forged or not. Few traceback schemes for IPv6-based network environment have been suggested, but it has these disadvantages that needs more study. In this paper, we propose the reliable IP traceback scheme supporting integrity of traceback-related information in IPv6 network environment, simulate it, and compare our proposed scheme with exsisting traceback mechanisms in terms of overhead and functionality.

  • Electrical energy is one of the most important energy sources in modern society. Therefore, it is very important to control the supply and demand of electric power. However, the power consumption data needed to predict power demand may include the information about the private behavior of an individual, the analysis of which may raise privacy issues. In this paper, we propose a secure power demand forecasting method where regression analyses on power consumption data are conducted in a trusted execution environment provided by Intel SGX, keeping the power usage pattern of users private. We performed experiments using various regression equations and selected an equation which has the least error rate. We show that the average error rate of the proposed method is lower than those of the previous forecasting methods with privacy protection functionality.

  • In the cloud computing environment, servers and applications can be set up within minutes, and recovery in case of fail ures has also become easier. Particularly, using virtual servers in the cloud is not only convenient but also cost-effective compared to the traditional approach of setting up physical servers just for temporary services. However, most of the und erlying networks and security systems that serve as the foundation for such servers and applications are primarily hardwa re-based, posing challenges when it comes to implementing cloud virtualization. Even within the cloud, there is a growing need for virtualization-based security and protection measures for elements like networks and security infrastructure. This paper discusses research on enhancing the security of cloud networks using network virtualization technology. I configured a secure network by leveraging virtualization technology, creating virtual servers and networks to provide various security benefits. Link virtualization and router virtualization were implemented to enhance security, utilizing the capabilities of virt ualization technology. The application of virtual firewall functionality to the configured network allowed for the isolation of the network. It is expected that based on these results, there will be a contribution towards overcoming security vulnerabil ities in the virtualized environment and proposing a management strategy for establishing a secure network.

  • The present paper is a study on the tracking characteristics depending on accelerated degradation of PVC insulation material. In order to insulation degradation of PVC insulation material, the Arrhenius equation, a type of accelerated degradation test formula, was used to conduct accelerated degradation experiments with experiment samples prepared at the following age equivalents: 0, 10, 20, 30 and 40 years. Afterwards, a tracking experiment was conducted on the accelerated experiment samples as part of the KS C IEC 60112 criteria. When measuring the PVC tracking features according to the accelerated aging, the results showed that when 0.1% of ammonium chloride was added to the PVC insulating material, but no tracking occurred. However, depending on the age equivalent, The results of analyzing the current waveform and voltage waveform of the tracking propagation process showed the age equivalent from 0 years to 40 years displayed a break down in insulation resistance and even the BDB(before dielectric breakdown) sections did not maintain the same functionality of the original material. Based on a criterion of an age equivalent of 0 years, material with an age equivalent of 10 years posed a 1.4 times greater risk, material with an age equivalent of 20 years posed a 2 times greater risk, material with an age equivalent of 30 years posed a 4.6 times greater risk, and material with an age equivalent of 40 years posed a 7 times greater risk.

  • As attackers try to paralyze information security systems, many researchers have investigated security testing to analyze vulnerabilities of information security products. Penetration testing, a critical step in the development of any secure product, is the practice of testing a computer systems to find vulnerabilities that an attacker could exploit. Security testing like penetration testing includes gathering information about the target before the test, identifying possible entry points, attempting to break in and reporting back the findings. Therefore, to obtain maximum generality, re-usability and efficiency is very useful for efficient security testing and vulnerability hunting activities. In this paper, we propose a threat analysis based software security testing technique for evaluating that the security functionality of target products provides the properties of self-protection and non-bypassability in order to respond to attacks to incapacitate or bypass the security features of the target products. We conduct a security threat analysis to identify vulnerabilities and establish a testing strategy according to software modules and security features/functions of the target products after threat analysis to improve re-usability and efficiency of software security testing. The proposed technique consists of threat analysis and classification, selection of right strategy for security testing, and security testing. We demonstrate our technique can systematically evaluate the strength of security systems by analyzing case studies and performing security tests.

  • This study aims to develop protective pants to relieve impact from falls and to present basic data for the development. The survey results are as follows; First, 45% of the respondents were in their 60s and 55% of them were in their over 70s and older. Also, 64% of them have fallen once for the past year and 36% of them have fallen twice or more. The older they were, the more there were those who have fallen twice or more. This indicated the older people has experienced more fall accidents again after a initial fall accident. Second, as per accident situations, the survey showed that fall accidents happened the most in the winter and in the afternoon (12-18 pm). Also, it happened on a street mostly and they were wearing sneakers or hiking boots when they got a hurt slipped in a front or side by missing their step in a walk. The injury areas are mostly knee and ankle. They had the bruises or a sprain in their knee and ankle mostly. The rate of bone fracture was 19.5%. Therefore, the protection area to falls in lower body is the knee. But hip and hip joint should be protected with knee as well because those are usually be broken when it is damaged. Third, approximately 80% of those who were hospitalized for treatment had surgery. Patients who had surgery were rather in their over 70s than in their 60s. The older they were, the more serious their fracture was. The period of hospital or outpatient treatment is more than three weeks in many cases. They responded their health got worse after falls. Aftereffects of accidents were physical discomfort, anxiety and medical costs. Falls to the old makes physical damage, psychological damage, which cause reduced physical activity and the increased cost of health care with economic losses. So it results on a negative impact on the life of the old. Fourth, elderly females were rarely aware of impact protective clothing and they have never purchased such clothing. For impact protective pants, the major consideration was suitable design for their body types. They liked casual style with front or side pockets and simple designs without any patterns or decorations. As per pants materials, they responded that they need functionality, activity and elasticity. Among the functional points, insulation of cloths are considered importantly, so the heat reservance of material in the impact protective pants should be considered carefully.

  • Ultraviolet curable coatings are often used to protect the surface of polymer materials exposed to the ultraviolet radiation. However, the adhesion of epoxy acrylate on poly(vinyl chloride) and the UV curable coating on polystyren are poor. The objective of this work was to improve the adhesion of coating according to various formulations of the reactive diluents and finishing methods using the photografting of multifunctional acrylate and the surface activation on polymer surface impregnated a phtoinitiator. The addition of Tripropylene glycole diacrlate in the formulation of coating results in the improvement of adhesion of coating due to the flexibility. But the increase of the crosslinking density which results from the oxidation of surface during the exposure of UV radiation caused the loss of adhesion of coating exept the photografting method. In the trimethylolpropane triacrylate the improvement of adhesion are considerable due to the chemical bond between multifundtional acrylate and surface. From this work we expect to achieve the varity and functionality in the formulation of coating according to the photografting and surface activating of polymer.

  • The majority of the described experimental results deal with relatively pure aluminium. Variations were made in the pretreatment of the aluminum substrates and an investigation was performed on the resulting changes in oxide layer composition and chemistry. Subsequently, the bonding behavior of the surfaces was investigated by using model adhesion molecules. These molecules were chosen to represent the bonding functionality of an organic polymer. They were applied onto the pretreated surfaces as a monolayer and the bonding behavior was studied using infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy. A direct and clear relation was found between the hydroxyl fraction on the oxide surfaces and the amount of molecules that subsequently bonded to the surface. Moreover, it was found that most bonds between the oxide surface and organic functional groups are not stable in the presence of water. The best performance was obtained using molecules, which are capable of chemisorption with the oxide surface. Finally, it was found that freshly prepared relatively pure aluminum substrates, which are left in air, rapidly lose their bonding capacity towards organic functional groups. This can be attributed to the adsorption of contamination and water to the oxide surface. In addition the adhesion of a typical epoxy-coated aluminum system was investigated during exposure to water at different temperatures. The coating was found to quite rapidly lose its adhesion upon exposure to water. This rapid loss of adhesion corresponds well with the data where it was demonstrated that the studied epoxy coating only bonds through physisorptive hydrogen bonding, these bonds not being stable in the presence of water. After the initial loss the adhesion of the coating was however found to recover again and even exceeded the adhesion prior to exposure. The improvement could be ascribed to the growth of a thin oxyhydroxide layer on the aluminum substrate, which forms a new, water-stable and stronger bond with the epoxy coating. Two routes for improvement of adhesion are finally decribed including an interphasial polymeric thin layer and a treatment in boiling water of the substrate before coating takes place. The adhesion properties were finely also studied as a function of the Mg content of the alloys. It was shown that an enrichment of Mg in the oxide could take place when Mg containing alloys are heat-treated. It is expected that for these alloys the (hydr)oxide fraction also depends on the pre-treatment and on the distribution of magnesium as compared to the aluminium hydroxides, with a direct impact on adhesive properties.
