모바일 u-GIS를 위한 동기화 시스템 설계 및 구현 (A Design and Implementation of Synchronization System for Mobile u-GIS)

  • 유비쿼터스 컴퓨팅 환경의 GIS 서비스는 모바일 기기를 이용하여 언제 어디서나 공간데이터를 이용할 수 있다. GIS 서비스는 최적의 서비스를 제공하기 위해 주기적으로 공간데이터를 최신의 데이터로 갱신한다. 모바일 환경에서는 이를 위해 변경데이터를 CD로 배포하거나 유선 네트워크를 이용한 업데이트 서비스를 제공한다. 그러나 이러한 배포방식은 실제 세계의 변경이 사용자에게 전달되기까지 오랜 시간이 소모되는 문제가 있다. 이 논문에서는 사용자까지 변경 데이터가 도달하는 시간을 최소화 하기위한 동기화 시스템을 제안한다. 이 동기화 시스템은 모바일 기기를 이용하여 현장에서 변경된 데이터를 수집하고, 수집된 데이터를 무선네트워크를 이용하여 실시간으로 서버와 동기화한다. 이를 위하여 무선 네트워크 모듈과 변경 데이터를 갱신하는 동기화 모듈을 설계 및 구현하였다.

Incremental extended finite element method for thermal cracking of mass concrete at early ages

  • Thermal cracks are cracks that commonly form at early ages in mass concrete. During the concrete pouring process, the elastic modulus changes continuously. This requires the time domain to be divided into several steps in order to solve for the temperature, stress, and displacement of the concrete. Numerical simulations of thermal crack propagation in concrete are more difficult at early ages. To solve this problem, this study divides crack propagation in concrete at early ages into two cases: the case in which cracks do not propagate but the elastic modulus of the concrete changes and the case in which cracks propagate at a certain time. This paper provides computational models for these two cases by integrating the characteristics of the extended finite element algorithm, compiles the corresponding computational programs, and verifies the accuracy of the proposed model using numerical comparisons. The model presented in this paper has the advantages of high computational accuracy and stable results in resolving thermal cracking and its propagation in concrete at early ages.

Initiation and propagation of a crack in the orthopedic cement of a THR using XFEM

  • The sealing cement of total hip arthroplasty is the most widely used binder in orthopedic surgery for anchoring implants to their recipient bones. Nevertheless, this latter remains a fragile material with weak mechanical properties. Inside this material cracks initiate from cavities. These cracks propagate under the effect of fatigue and lead to the failure of this binder and consequently the loosening of the prosthesis. In this context, this work consists to predict the position of cracks initiation and their propagations path using the Extended Finite Element Method (XFEM). The results show that cracks can only be initiated from a sharp edges of an ellipsoidal cavity which the ratio of the minor axis over the major axis is equal to 0.1. A maximum crack length of 19 ?m found for a cavity situated in the proximal zone position under a static loading. All cracks propagate in same(almost) way regardless of the cavity(site of initiation) position and its inclination in the proximal zone.

차량 애드혹 네트워크의 빈번한 토폴로지 변경에 적합한 기회적 브로드캐스트 프로토콜 (Opportunistic Broadcast Protocol for Frequent Topology Changes in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks)

  • The message propagation between vehicles must be efficiently performed to quickly transmit information between vehicles in vehicle ad hoc networks (VANETs). Broadcasting can be the most effective solution for propagating these messages. However, broadcasting can cause broadcast storm problems, which can reduce the performance of the overall network. Therefore, rapid information delivery in VANET requires a method that can propagate messages quickly without causing the broadcast storm problems. This paper proposes a lightweight and opportunistic broadcast (LOB) protocol that leverages the features of opportunistic routing to propagate messages quickly while minimizing the load on the network in VANETs where the network topology changes frequently. LOB does not require any routing information like greedy forwarding scheme, and neighboring nodes at the farthest distance within the range of transmission nodes are likely to be selected as forwarding nodes, and multiple forwarding candidate nodes like opportunistic routing scheme can increase packet transmission rates. Simulation results using ns-2 showed that LOB outperformed existing broadcast protocols in terms of packet rate and packet delay.

  • Bitstrems corrupted by channel errors are not only difficult to be decoded but also propagate error to other part of the bitstreams when highly compressed video is transmitted over channels with noise such as mobile communication channels. In this paper, error concealment algorithm performed in decoder is proposed when errors occur for transmission. Proposed algorithm searches moving area with homogeneous movement in neighbored blocks when motion vectors are damaged, then recovers motion vectors of missing blocks considering where missing blocks are belong to. Experiment result shows that proposed algorithm exhibits better performance in PSNR than existing error concealment method.

  • In this paper, we measured inter-floor loss in multifloored building to surround buildings at 910MHz. Effect of interfloor diffraction to propagate through out-surface were smaller than effect of reflection of surrounding buildings. If multifloored building were offered W-PBX service, we will have to design optimization of indoor cell to overcome time delay difference.

  • The oscillatory boundary layer that develops when surface waves propagate over the sea bottom affects many flow-pendent phenomena in the coastal zone. Examples of such phenomena are wave energy dissipation due to bottom friction and the initiation and transport of sediment (Grant and Madsen 1986).   • Ocean seabed is usually covered with various types of marine soils. A marine soil is a mixture of two phases: soil particles that forms an interlocking skeletal frame, pore fluids that occupy a major portion of pore space. When gravity water waves propagate over a porous movable seabed, a hydrodynamic pressure on the fluid-seabed interface and fluid flow in the porous medium are induced. (omitted)

  • We study a conceptual numerical model on shock-vortex interaction setting an impulsive shock in a compressible vertex. Navier-Stokes equations are solved for the investigation of interactive structure and acoustic wave propagation. The rotationally symmetric vortex enforces two compression-expansion pairs resultantly forming a quadrupolar shape. These compressive and expansive waves cylindrically propagate to the far field and turn to acoustic waves. Using a fine uniform Cartesian grid system and a TVD-high resolution method, the flow data irl: precisely obtained to extend our interest to the sound source.

  • This paper presents FMC prototypes developed to propagate manufacuting automation for small and medium sized enterprises in Korea. The system consists of two cells used to machine oil pump drive gears, turing cell and hobbing cell. Characteristics and processes of the fears are anaylzed for the cell design. The system configuration and functions of individual component machines are described. Furthermore, the developed system is compared with the current manual system in terms of manpower and cost reduction and productivity increase.
