  • For many capacity expansion problems, distinct capacity types must be specified to identify capacity at different locations or capacities with different costs and operating characteristics. In this study, a project-sequencing model is developed that allows operating costs to influence the timing decisions for project establishment. Under certain conditions, the power expansion formulation is derived that may be solved through the dynamic programming approach, and its first application to planning in electric power systems is selected to investigate an optimal policy and to show the impact of requiring system to service more than one type of demand. Several sample testing results indicate that in some systems the efficiency of the large nuclear plants is higher than that of smell ones that it may overcome the effects of the drop in reliability.

  • This paper presents an application of optimization method for efficient operation in micro grid. For operational efficiency, the objective function in a diesel generator consists of the fuel cost function similar to the cost functions used for the conventional fossil-fuel generating plants. The wind turbine generator is modeled by the characteristics of variable output. The cost function of fuel cell plant considers the efficiency of fuel cell. Particle swarm optimization(PSO) and sequential quadratic programming(SQP) are used for solving the problem of microgrid system operation. Also, from the results this paper presents the way to attend power markets which can buy and sell power from upper lever grids by connecting a various generation resources to micro grid.

  • This paper deals with the scheduling ploblems, which are the most important subtasks in High-level syntheses. IP(integer programming) formulations is used as the scheduling problem approach. This paper describes a new resource-constraints scheduling algorithm. We have concentrated our attentions on the multicycle operations and the structural pipelining, and we fully analyze the characteristics of operators to achieve the maximal performance and the maximal resource sharing. For experiment results, we choose the 5-th order digital wave filter as a benchmark and do the schedule, Finally, we can obtain near-optimal scheduling results.

  • A design paradigm using sequential geometric programming is presented to accurately design CMOS op amps with BSIM3. It is based on new adaptive modeling of transistor parameters through the operating point simulation. This has low modeling cost as well as great simplicity and high accuracy. The short-channel dc, high-frequency small-signal, and short-channel noise models are used to characterize the physical behavior of submicron devices. For low-power and low-voltage design, this paradigm is extended to op amps operating in the subthreshold region. Since the biasing and modeling errors are less than 0.25%, the characteristics of the op amps well match simulation results. In addition, small dependency of design results on initial values indicates that a designed op amp may be close to the global optimum. Finally, the design paradigm is illustrated by optimizing CMOS op amps with accurate transfer function.

  • We propose a novel pixel structure using bootstrapped voltage programming for amorphoussilicon TFT backplane of AM-OLED (Active Matrix-Organic Light Emitting Diode) displays. The proposed structure is composed of two TFTs and one capacitor. It operates at low drive voltage ($0{\sim}5V$) which can reduce power consumption comparing with the conventional pixel circuit structure using same OLED material. Also, it can easily control dark level and use commercial mobile LCD ICs. In this paper, we describe the operating principle and the characteristics of the proposed pixel structure and verify the performance by SPICE simulation comparing with the conventional pixel structure.

  • Chalcogenide phase change memory has high performance to be next generation memory, because it is a nonvolatile memory processing high programming speed, low programming voltage, high sensing margin, low consumption and long cycle duration. We have developed a sample of PRAM with thermal protected layer. We have investigated the phase transition behaviors in function of process factor including thermal protect layer. As a result, we have observed that set voltage and duration of protect layer are more improved than no protect layer.

  • We have investigated the effects of doping concentration in polysilicon floating gate on the endurance characteristics of the EEPROM cell haying the structure of spacer select transistor. Several samples were prepared with different implantation conditions of phosphorus for the floating gate. Results show the dependence of doping concentration in polysilicon floating gate on performance of EEPROM cell from the floating gate engineering point of view. All of the samples were endured up to half million programming/erasing cycle. However, the best $program-{\Delta}V_{T}$ characteristic was obtained in the cell doped at the dose of $1{\times}10^{15}/cm^{2}$.

  • An electrically alterable read only memory with polysilicon gate is experimently realized employing a SONOS structure. The SONOS memory cells are proposed to achieve lower programming voltage with thin nitride (70A, 170$\AA$) layer. Its programming voltage is 10V (Tnit=70$\AA$), 22V(Tnit=170$\AA$). And the SONOS cell is able to, erasc biasing negative gate pulse, then its voltage is about -24V for nitride thickness of 170$\AA$.

  • A real-time single reservoir operation model using the Min-max Dynamic Programming for the flood control of Soyanggang Dam and Choongju Dam is developed. The objective function is to minimize the maximum release from each dam and the constraints are those from ther reservoir and channel characteristics. Control and utilization efficiencies are used to measure the performance of the reservoir operation method (ROM). In comparison with those of simulation models(such as the Rigid ROM, the Technical ROM and the Linear Decision Rule), the efficiencies of the optimization model are superior for all return periods.

  • This paper proposes a new content-addressable memory implemented with an analog array which has linear writing and erasing characteristics. The size of the array in this memory is $2{\times}2$, which is a reasonable structure for checking the disturbance of the unselected cells during programming. An intermediate voltage, Vmid, is used for preventing the interference during programming. The operation for reading in the memory is executed with an absolute differencing circuit and a winner-take-all (WTA) circuit suitable for a nearest-match function of a content-addressable memory. We simulate the function of the mechanism by means of Hspice with 1.2${\mu}m$ double poly CMOS parameters of MOSIS fabrication process.
