Objectives : This study aimed to investigate the current job-related characteristics coordinators in East-West Collaborative Medical Practices(EWCMP) and to develop activation plans for them. Method : The participants were 51 personnel who were supporting EWCMP in the 28 institutions. Data were collected with self-administered questionnaires and analyzed with descriptive statistics. Results : The major role of the participants was educating and consulting patients(74.5%) and followed by supporting collaborating physician(70.6%). They assumed to be helpful to make the patients easy to use EWCMP(98%) and to give patients full information what they asked(96%). However, participants responded lack of adequate educational programs and role ambiguity as chief complaints(91.7%). They showed relatively high level of job importance(78.7points on 100points) and job satisfaction(72.8points on 100points). Coordinators were expected to have bachelor and more than 8 years clinical career, and communication skill. Conclusions : Coordinators have played key roles in giving information for the patients and coordinating EWCMP. However their roles and job description was not clear, and educational programs was insufficient as required. Therefore, it is needed to clarify their roles and job description and establish professional educational programs for supporting coordinators.
PMO(Project Management Office) has been considered as a general approach for the successful operation of IT project. The previous studies tended to emphasize on the roles and functions of PMO in a normative way. However, in practice, since PMO is operated as a joint structure in which client firms and professional PMOs work together, it seems to be important that the implementation system of PMO should be properly formed. In this paper, it is examined whether the competence of client firms and professional PMO influence on the setup of implementation system of PMO, and also whether implementation system of PMO influence of the performance of IT project. In addition, it is also analyzed if the competence of client firms and professional PMO influence differently on the setup of implementation system of PMO, according to the degree of knowledge complementarity. As a result of this study, it is found that the competence of client firms and professional PMO influence positively on the setup of implementation system of PMO, and governance factors such as clear definition of organizational roles, responsibility, and setup of standardized processes are also important in performance of IT project. It is also shown that, if knowledge complementarity is formed with a common knowledge base between client firms and professional PMOs, Project Management Office functions effectively. In summary, for the successful performance of IT project, it seems that it is required to approach from the view point of governance in forming the implementation system of PMO and it is also important to form knowledge complementarity between client firms and professional PMOs.

The purpose of this study is to gain an understanding of the experiences of nurses in graduate school who fill multiple professional roles. The research's participants were women in the nursing profession studying towards postgraduate degrees. Their experiences were analyzed using Colaizzi's phenomenological method of qualitative research. The results showed that participants feel constantly short of time, pressure from the demands of their study, guilt owing to inability to fulfill family commitments, struggles related to the conflicts of multiple roles, and the feeling of satisfaction from accomplishing professional goals. This paper suggests that if nurses undergoing graduate study have an organized support system to help them perform the roles, they will find an identity in the nursing profession and will take care of their patients more professionally as a result. Such support depends in part on health administrators' greater understanding of the nurses' circumstances.

Purpose: This study was to investigate the nationwide operational status of the professional medical support staffs (PMSS) who practice the expanded roles in the hospital setting. Methods: The data were obtained through survey from 36 hospitals with over 500 beds from 25th May to 12th July 2016. Data from 1,666 PMSS were analyzed. Results: Since the job titles varied, we classified them into 5 groups according to their roles; advanced practice nurse, clinical nurse expert, PA (physician assistant), coordinator, and others. There were differences in the operation status of PMSSs depending on the region, nurse staffing grade and number of hospital beds. Qualification criteria varied from hospital to hospital, and almost half of the hospitals didn't have any qualification standards for them. There were differences in age, educational level, clinical careers, rewards, and job satisfaction in 5 groups. Especially PA group had low salary, poorer working conditions, more difficulties in performing their work, and lower job satisfaction than other groups. Most PMSS (99.5%) were using a delegated prescription authority, however only 68.3% had job description and 19.9% had documented delegated role. Conclusion: Adequate training curriculum, documented delegated roles, and the protocols for legal protection and efficient medical services are needed.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument to measure nursing professional values. Method: Forty preliminary items were selected by classifying 223 basic items extracted via a literature study and in-depth interviews of subjects and testing the relevance of their contents. In order to verify the reliability and relevance of the preliminary instrument, data was collected from 504 nurses in 3 general hospitals. Result: As a result of the item analysis, 29 items were selected from a total of 40 items. Five factors were extracted by factor analysis, and the total variance was $51.5\%$. For the explanation of variances by factors, the 1 st factor, 'self-concept of the profession' accounted for $14.8\%$, the 2nd factor, 'social awareness' $12.1\%$, the 3rd factor, 'professionalism of nursing' $9.8\%$, the 4th factor, 'the roles of nursing service' $9.1\%$, and the 5th factor, 'originality of nursing', $5.6\%$. Cronbach's Alpha of those 29 items was .9168, which was high. Conclusion: This paper is meaningful in a way that it developed a tool capable of measuring nursing professional values, which reflects the characteristics of our country. In order to re-verify the relevance and stability of this tool, it is necessary that comparative studies should be conducted.
Purpose: This study is investigate the role conflict, professional self-concept, and job satisfaction degree of the physician assistant nurses, and to grasp the factors affecting job satisfaction. Methods: Data were collected from September to October, 2018 and 156 physician assistant nurses working at one certified tertiary hospital, four general hospitals, using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The degree of job satisfaction of the subject was 2.76 out of 5. The influential factors in the job satisfaction of the subjects were professional self-concept (β=.51, p<.001), and role conflict (β=-.29, p<.001), affected job satisfaction by 53.5%. Conclusion: In order to improve the job satisfaction of physician assistant nurses, the role conflict should be solved and a plan to form a positive self-concept should be sought. Therefore, through the identification of the roles that are appropriate to the situation in Korea and the legal and institutional positioning, they will need to be recognized and developed.
Medical services aren't done by doctors only but by different medical personnels. If any medical accident takes place, to what extent doctors, nurses and other personnels should respectively be liable for that should be determined. And when an employed doctor does any illegal medical act, his or her employer also should be responsible for that as a user. If a medical accident occurs, the victim or patient usually claims against the employer of the doctor sho causes the accident for compensation. And those who assist medical treatment, including nurses, should be liable for their own acts, but in case their doctor doesn't give any appropriate directions, the doctor should shoulder the liability. This indicates that nurses are also professional medical personnels, and that they should share the liability as well. There are lots of different medical personnels, but doctors and nurses are the pivot of team treatment, and nurses should also take responsibility for their services. Doctors and nurses are equal, as they are in pursuit of the same, namely, helping patients recover their health. Only their roles are different. If they respect each other and see each other as being responsible for their own roles, they will be able to consult together. Medical information on patients and nursing information should be shared by both of them, and patients should be provided accurate treatment and nursing services. If those who offer nursing services are unaware of required information due to conflicts with doctors, it might result in threatening the safety of patients. And in case any important information isn't properly conveyed between them, it might trigger a medical accident. Sophisticated and complex medical science requires medical personnels to be professional, and nurses as well as doctors need to be an expert. The fact treatment-related accidents take place often indicates that treatment is basically attended with danger. Furthermore, patients respond to all sorts of investigation and medicine in a different manner. They should be professional and knowledgeable to predict how they might respond and prevent any possible hazardous situations, and they are expected to have more knowledge in the future. Nonetheless, there aren't yet enough studies on the legal liability of nurses, and this study is expected to pave the way for future research on nurse liability against medical accidents.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the image of nurses portrayed on Korean TV dramas. Methods: Among the medical dramas aired on TV from 2000 to 2013, sixteen different Korean TV dramas were selected. For analyzing the dramas, 'the checklist for monitoring media images of nurses and nursing' was used after obtaining the permission from the original author. Two evaluators evaluated each drama and synchronized the final scores after comparing individual scores. Results: The roles of nurses were found to be such a supportive role (93.8%), and a professional role (75.0%). The nurses images portrayed on the selected TV drama included being kind, accountable, having humanism (81.2%), and professional insights (56.2%), whereas nurses's administrative role such as a manager were not represented. A half of scenes that nurses showed up, nurses were asking asking for help to doctors or other hospital administrators. Conclusion: Since TV dramas on air in Korea still underrepresented the roles of the professional nurses, providing the media with advice to improve the images of nurses is necessary in future. Concrete and sustainable strategies for improving nurses image are required.
This study was aimed at comparing and evaluating one main role, the professional self concept and job satisfaction of public health nurses and clinical nurses. Method: The data was collected from 72 nurses in 8 health centers and 86 nurses in 5 hospitals in Daegu city and Kyungpook province from May 5th to June 5th, 2001. This study was interviewed by trained social workers. The origin of questionnaires used in this study were PSCNI(Professional Self-Concept of Nurses Instrument) to measure the professional self concept of nurses and JDI(Job Descriptive Index) to measure the job satisfaction of nurses. The data was analyzed by SAS(version 6.12) and statistical methods used were Chi-square test, t-test, ANOVA(analysis of variables) and ANCOVA(analysis of covariate). Result: The findings of this study were as follows: 1. The most important domain in the main role of public health nurses were as counsellors, managers, mediators and evaluators. In clinical nurses, their main roles were, directors of nursing, researchers, spokesmans, and informers. 2. Public health nurses showed lower scores in the professional self concept of nurses than clinical nurses, what statistically significant tool was used to suggest this finding. 3. Public health nurses showed higher scores in job satisfaction than clinical nurses, but again, explain the tool used in these findings for give a rationals. 4. For public health nurses, general characteristics which affected professional self concept were age, educational level, and duration of job. In clinical nurses, the general characteristics which affected professional self concept were age, religion, marital status, and duration of job. 5. For public health nurses, there was no general characteristic which affected job satisfaction. In clinical nurses, the general characteristics which affected job satisfaction were age, religion, and duration of job. Conclusion: Nursing profession should give a training to competent nurses who can deliver high quality care to meet the needs of health consumers. The role of nurses has been expended and specialized as health conception has been changed in Korea.
This study aimed to identify priorities in community pharmacist's roles in aged society using Analytic Hierarchy Process. We developed a survey questionnaire for AHP, which consisted of 19 pharmacist's roles selected from the FIP/WHO guidelines. The AHP survey questionnaire was self-administered by 127 pharmacists. The results showed that pharmacists put medication therapy management at the highest priority, preparation, dispense, distribution of medication at the second priority, and efficient healthcare system at the lowest priority. Among the 19 roles, new roles such as monitoring of medication therapy results, team-based health care, and transitions of care obtained relatively high priority.
