A Mathematical Model for Converting Conveyor Assembly Line to Cellular Manufacturing

  • This paper proposes a mathematical model for converting conveyor assembly line to cellular manufacturing in complex production environments. Complex production environments refer to the situations with multi-products, variant demand, different batch sizes and the worker abilities varying with work stations and products respectively. The model proposed in this paper aims to determine (1) how many cells should be formatted; (2) how many workers should be assigned in each cell; (3) and how many workers should be rested in shortened conveyor line when a conveyor assembly line should be converted, in order to optimize system performances which are defined as the total throughput time and total labor power. We refer the model to a new production system. Such model can be used as an evaluation tool in the cases of (i) when a company wants to change its production system (usually a belt conveyor line) to a new one (including cell manufacturing); (ii) when a company wants to evaluate the performance of its converted system. Simulation experiments based on the data collected from the previous documents are used to estimate the marginal impact that each factor change has had on the estimated performance improvement resulting from the conversion.

  • 지난 십여 년간 놀라운 성장을 보인 한국 영화산업에 많은 기여를 해온 프로듀서의 시스템은 산업의 변화와 발전 과정에서 새로운 역할규정을 필요로 하는 시점에 접어들었다. 아이템을 개발하여 영화의 시나리오를 완성하고 감독과 배우를 패키징(Packaging)하는 기획개발과정은 영화의 완성도를 높이고 투자를 이끌어내는 것을 목표로 하는 매우 창의적이고 실제적인 과정이다. 본고는 미국 PGA(Producers Guild of America)의 "Produced By" 자격규정을 기준으로 한국영화 기획개발과정에서의 프로듀서의 역할과 문제점을 알아보고 이를 해결하기 위한 개선방안을 모색한다.

미니밀 공정의 회귀식 모델링에 의한 제품품질향상에 관한 연구 (A Study on Product Quality Improvement by Regression Modeling of Mini-Mill Process)

  • Mini-Mill process has been recently in operation at Pohang steel company, which enables more flexible steel coil production on customer demands. The effects of process parameters in Mini-Mill process need to be analyzed not only to make the process stable but also to improve product quality. This work aims to develop a regression model of Mini-Mill process using accumulated product data such that the process parameter effects on product tensile strength may be analyzed. The analysis shows that tensile strength is influenced mainly by the amount of components such as carbon, manganese, silicon, and sulfur. The effect of temperature is shown to be small. It is concluded that control of the components is much more responsible for both meeting the target and reducing the variation of the product tensile strength. Heat treatment is more useful in compensating tensile strength variations due to thickness differences and improving workability and other quality characteristics. More work is necessary for establishing regression expressions of the process that is reliable and accurate enough to dispense with the off-line inspection of the product tensile strength.

  • In order to resolve the problems which appear after the clean large ingot production process, the impurities which are involved in the steel smelting process should be removed by developing cleaner materials. Through the rationalization of cogging process that is the first forging process of large ingot the quality is to be improved. For the sake of the optimization of an open die forging process and the improvement of the subject matter frequency ratio, a hazard precise die forging process must be developed and a Near Net Shape Forming accomplished. As a result, energy can be reduced by minimizing an after control process. In order to produce large axes and other forming parts, processing techniques are to be developed. In this context, this paper is a study about a reduction ratio, dies width ratio and rotary angles, the amount of overlap, and intends to analysis cogging processes, utilizing Deform-3D cogging module

  • In case of domestic automobile manufacturers introducing and running a make-to-order production system, JIT system is to provide a necessary number of components at a right place in time which is a specific supply chain management, is different from other occupations. This study is for establishing a efficient production planning and finding a management method to correspond with a manufacturing system and diversified supply chain management and building an information system to support it. For this, we analyze the relevant business process and utilize various informations occur in supply chain of domestic automobile components manufacturer. It will contribute to not only reliability improvement of production management system but also satisfaction for due date of products.

Micromonospora purpurea에 의한 gentamicin생성 (Production of Gentamicin by Micromonospora purpurea)

  • Using Micromonospora strain, gentamicin was produced by fermentation. The increase in gentamicin productivity was studied by strain improvement and systematic optimization of fermentation process variables. The productivity of parent strain of M.purpurea (ATCC15835) was improved by selection of superior mutant after U.V. irradiation and induction of genetamicin resistance. Potato starch and soy bean meal were the best carbon and nitrogen sources for gentamicin fermentation, respectively. The optimum stimulating concentration of Co ion for gentamicin production was 0.006g $CoCl_2$ per liter of broth. Oxygen ws found to be an important factor for gentamicin yield. The optimum pH for the cell growth and gentamicin production were 7.2 and 6.8 respectively. By controlling the pH, oxygen, and other conditions found in this study at the optimal conditions for cell growth and gentamicin production, the total productivity of gentamicin was increased significantly.

  • This study intend to make easy modification, even if there is a new job or structure change, by modularizing program and computerize and automation of production control management used in CIM. Under the condition where manager control production on the job-site, for increasing connection with other operation and management on the computer by monitoring center computer, Recognizing information by computer is needed, it is possible by converting transaction. So production increase and quality improvement are possible by diminishing manager's and producer's work with the result of the study combining POP and CIM, after that, in e-business and m-business period that every enterprise must pass, customer satisfaction and sales promotion are possible with employee's computerizing minds. These study result also can knowledge process condition with theoretical class and have a power in finding a solution with foundation of theoretical knowledge.

  • In this article, a simulation model of a microwave oven assembly line is developed to identify system parameters to improve the system performances such as work-in-process inventories, production lead time, mean earliness, mean tardiness and in-time completion rate. System parameters investigated include dispatching rules, lot sizing, setup time reduction, demand increase, productivity improvement, production scheduling, hardware characteristics, etc. The model has been developed using SIMAN simulation language which has been demonstrated to be a powerful tool to simulate complex manufacturing systems. We have suggested the results obtained to improve the system performances of an existing production line.

  • This paper is written to analyze systematically the varieties of informations about cooking stream procedure on the basis of the basic theory of installation and arrangement such as SLP(Systemic Layout Planning) and to deduce the plan for the device, installation and arrangement suitable to cooking stream procedure. Through the substantial improvement in the modeling of hotel L, the optimization of the capacity of installation and arrangement, and the reduction of food resource stream and its movement and through the analysis of cooking stream procedure by disposing and dividing the main kitchen into three individual ones, the improvement of productivity in comprehensive cookery such as the specialization and equalization of cooking procedure and improvement effect of the price-reduction. Moreover, as for the problem of arrangement of installation, it was displayed that the effect went up to twice through the flexible production-related systems such as the improvement of arrangement, reduction of cooking preparation time, the standardization of cookery.
