This work studies the variability of flatfish sales revenue. The theoretical analysis draws functions for equilibrium price and quantity using expectation hypotheses. The functions include unpredictable phenomenon with dummy variable and GARCH. The equilibrium function, using adaptive expectation hypothesis, contains the independent variables of supply and demand, while the equilibrium function, embodying rational expectation hypothesis, includes only the independent variables of supply side, because the demand side disappears by the information extraction process theoretically, if economic subjects build the expectation rational. The empirical analysis shows: the variability of flatfish production has a spillover effect on the variability of revenue with the adaptive expectation hypothesis. In the case when the model has a rational expectation hypothesis, the variability of flatfish production has a spillover effect on the revenue (the mean equation of GARCH model). This study indicates that there is the variability in flatfish production and sales revenue, and the spillover effect between them. The result can help to build of the rational system for the fishery income stability.
Six yearling Suffolk ewes were used to study the effect of different roughage proportion diets (30%=LR, and 70%=HR) and intake levels (0.7 M and 1.3 M) on heat production and thermoregulatory responses in sheep exposed to different ambient temperatures (20 and $30^{\circ}C$). Sheep fed HR had higher heat production (HP) and time spent eating (TSE) and lower time spent standing (TSS) than those fed LR. But effect of roughage proportion on vaginal temperature (Tv) was obvious only at high intake and at $30^{\circ}C$. Sheep fed high intake had higher Tv, HP, TSS, and TSE than those fed low intake. Roughage proportion and intake level did not have an effect on respiration rate (RR), but ambient temperature did. Ambient temperature did not have an effect on HP, TSS and TSE. At $30^{\circ}C$ sheep had higher Tv and RR than those at $20^{\circ}C$. There were interactions between intake level and ambient temperature in TSS, between intake level and roughage proportion in TSE, and between roughage proportion and ambient temperature in HP. Results indicate that high roughage diet imposes a greater potential heat load on animals than low roughage diet when given at high ambient temperature, but not at low ambient temperature. And the effects is more pronounced at high intake.

Learning rate is generally applied to estimate an appropriate production labor cost. Learning effect is obtained from repetitive work during the production period under 3 assumptions ; homogeneous production, same producer, quantity measure in continuous unit. However, production breaks occur frequently in Korean defense industry environment because of budget constraint and annual requirements. In this case previous learning effect can not be applied due to learning loss. This paper proposed the application of learning rate when a production break occurs in Korea defense industry. To obtain a learning loss, we surveyed various learning loss factors for different production breaks(6, 12, 18 months) from 4 defense industry companies. Then, we estimate the first unit labor hours in re-production phase after production break using Anderlohr method and Retrograde method with the result of the survey. This work is the first attempt to show a method which defines and evaluates the learning loss factors in Korean defense industry environment.

A study was carried out to elucidate the relation between the production of flavonol glycosides and the change of phenylalanine ammonia-lyase activity in cell suspension cultures of Ginkgo biloba by the unassisted and synergistic effects of various factors. The quercetin production showed a mixed-growth-associated pattern in cell suspension cultures. Fluorescent light and UV radiation increased phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) activity, and resulted in the increase of the production of quercetin and kaempferol ten- and four-fold, respectively, as compared to that obtained in the normal culture condition. The cell growth of Ginkgo biloba was enhanced .at higher temperatures whereas the quercetin production was at its maximum at low temperatures. Moreover, the quercetin production was increased by temperature change during the culture period. In particular, the quercetin production was at the highest level when the culture temperature was elevated from $10^{\circ}C\;to\;30^{\circ}C$. The addition of phenylalanine as a precursor in the culture medium stimulated an 8-fold increase in the production of quercetin; the addition of naringenin caused a l0-fold increase. The quercetin production was also greatly increased by feeding enzyme cofactors such as 2-ketoglutarate and ascorbic acid in the culture medium, but specific PAL activity was not increased except with phenylalanine feeding. The synergistic effect of UV radiation and naringenin feeding was observed, resulting in the increase of flavonol glycoside production at a rate higher than in any other case investigated.
The purpose of this study was to analyze a ripple effect of the regions, Samcheok city, Goseong county and Donghae city, in Gangwon province by government aid for forest fire restoration through the input-output analysis. These regions were devastated by forest fire in 2000. Direct production inducement effect was higher than indirect production inducement effect except for construction industry. Income inducement effect similarly showed production inducement effect Indirect employment inducement effect was higher than direct employment inducement effect. The efficiency of government aid took a side view of three effects. Production inducement effect and income inducement effect in Donghae were more efficient than these in Samcheok and Goseong. Employment inducement effect in Samcheok was more efficient than it in Goseong and Donghae.
Objectives : Nitric oxide (NO) plays an important role in normal and pathophysiological cells as a messenger molecule, neurotransmitter, microbiological agent, or dilator of blood vessels and arteriosclerosis, respectively. This study was undertaken to understand the mechanism of NO production and effect of Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) on NO production in cultured vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC). Methods and Results : VSMC was isolated from aorta and cultured. Cultured primary cells were identified as VSMC with anti--smooth muscle actin antibody. A large amount of NO was produced in cultured VSMC treated with $IFN-{\gamma}$ plus TNF in a time- and dose-dependent manner. $TNF-{\alpha}$ was a more efficient stimulator than $IFN-{\gamma}$ in NO production of cultured VSMC. iNOS protein wasdetected within 3 hrs and it increased up to 12 hrs in a time-dependent manner. However, accumulated NO in cytokine-treated VSMC was not detected within 3 hrs. NO production in cytokine-treated VSMC showed the dose- and time-dependent manner, and increased up to 48 hrs. The activated VSMC produced a large amount of NO (about 60 uM). Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) alone did not induceNO production, but it potentiated the effect of $TNF-{\alpha}$ on NO production and increased NO production by about 20%. Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) did not affect the transcriptional activity of iNOS gene, but increased the accumulation of iNOS. These results indicate that Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) could modulate the translational level of iNOS. PKC did not modulate NO production, but calcium ionophore A23187 decreased NO production. However, Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) elevated the decreased NO production in A23187-treated VSMC by modulating the stability of iNOS transcripts. Half-life of the synthesized transcripts appeared to have about 6 hrs. PDTC, an $NF-{\kappa}B$ inhibitor, blocked the accumulation of iNOS mRNA, indicating that $NF-{\kappa}B$ served as an important modulator in the transcriptional regulation of iNOS. As Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) potentiated the effect of the $TNF-{\alpha}$ on NO production but had no additional effect on PDTC-modulated NO production, it is suggested that Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) enhances the $TNF-{\alpha}-mediated$ NO production of VSMC by modulating the iNOS activity and the stability of iNOS transcripts in activated VSMC having the elevated intracellular calcium ion. Conclusions : This study suggests that Hyeolbuchukeo-tang (Xiefuzhuyu-tang) has a potential capacity for preventing and treating diseases of the circulation system, including arteriosclerosis.
Objectives : The objective of this study is to study the effects of Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmacopuncture solution on NO and IL-6 production in macrophage. Methods : At first, the RAW 264.7 macrophage was subclutured. In order to evaluate cytotoxicity, MTT assay performed. Then, the cell was induced by LPS, INF-$\gamma$ and Experimental groups were divided into five(Normal, Control, Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum 100, 200, $300{\mu}g/m{\ell}$). Then Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmacopuncture solution was put into cell. We measured IL-6, iNOS, NO. Results : The cytotoxic effect of Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmacopuncture solution in RAW 264.7 macrophage was not appeared. $300{\mu}g/m\ell$ Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmacopuncture solution inhibited IL-6 production in LPS, INF-$\gamma$-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages significantly. Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmacopuncture solution inhibited iNOS revelation in LPS, INF-$\gamma$-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages. All group of Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmacopuncture solution inhibited NO production in LPS, INF-$\gamma$-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages significantly. Conclusions : Our study demonstrated that Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmacopuncture solution had an inhibition effect on NO production, iNOS revelation, IL-6 production. So Euonymi Lignum Suberatatum pharmaco puncture solution may have an Anti-inflammation effect.
It was studied in order to improve the yield of serrapeptase production in fermentation that organic nitrogen sources play important roles not only as inducer, repressor and activator, but also nitrogen sources. From the investigation of the effect of Na-caseinate on the induction of serrapeptase production, it was elucidated that real inducer was leucine and strong repressor was cysteine, which were produced through hydrolysis of proteins. Serrapeptase production was strongly induced by Na-caseinate in culture time 12 hrs, but was weakly induced before and after that time. Therefore fed batch culture where partial amount of Na-caseinate is added in 12 hrs, is better than batch culture where total amount of Na-caseinate is added at the beginning. Cysteine, methionine, MgSO$_{4}$, and so on, sulfur-containing materials, repressed the serrapeptase production. In the addition of mineral salts, chlorinated salts is better than sulfated salts because of sulfur repression. The synergic effect of soybean meal with Na-caseinate on the serrapeptase production resulted from Mn$^{2+}$ contained in soybean meal, of which the optimal concentration is 4 mM in enzyme production.
The source of nitric oxide (NO) in plants is unclear and it has been reported NO can be produced by nitric oxide synthase (NOS) like enzymes and by nitrate reductase (NR). Here we used wild-type, Atnos1 mutant and nia1, nia2 NR-deficient mutant plants of Arabidopsis thaliana to investigate the potential source of NO production in response to Verticillium dahliae toxins (VD-toxins). The results revealed that NO production is much higher in wild-type and Atnos1 mutant than in nia1, nia2 NR-deficient mutants. The NR inhibitor had a significant effect on VD-toxins-induced NO production; whereas NOS inhibitor had a slight effect. NR activity was significantly implicated in NO production. The results indicated that as NO was induced in response to VD-toxins in Arabidopsis, the major source was the NR pathway. The production of NOS-system appeared to be secondary.
