Cloning of cDNA Encoding the Precursor to the Small Subunit of Ribulose-1,5-Bisphosphate Carboxylase in Pea 9Pisum sativum) (완두콩(Pisum sativum)에서 Ribulose-1,5-Bisphosphate Carboxylase Small Subunit 유전자의 cDNA 클로닝과 광유도성 발현에 관한 연구)

  • Polysomal polyadenylated mRNAs which were purified from pea leaves were fractionated by sucrose grandient sedimentation. Fractions corresponding to the peak at 11.5S were found to contain mostly mRNA encoding the precursor polypeptide to the small subunit of ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase (rbcS) by in vitro translation in wheat germ extract. Double-stranded cDNA which was synthesized from the 11.5S mRNA was cloned into Hind III site of plasmid pBR 325. A cDNA clone, H24, was identified to code for rbcS. In vitro translation product of the hybridization-selected mRNA was molecular weight 20,000, presumably the precursor of rbcS. The nucleotide sequences of the H24 showed almost complete homology with the sequences encoding the transit peptide of the rbcS-3A gene which was reported by Fluhr et al.(1986).

Effect of Spray System on Fission Product Distribution in Containment During a Severe Accident in a Two-Loop Pressurized Water Reactor

  • The containment response during the first 24 hours of a low-pressure severe accident scenario in a nuclear power plant with a two-loop Westinghouse-type pressurized water reactor was simulated with the CONTAIN 2.0 computer code. The accident considered in this study is a large-break loss-of-coolant accident, which is not successfully mitigated by the action of safety systems. The analysis includes pressure and temperature responses, as well as investigation into the influence of spray on the retention of fission products and the prevention of hydrogen combustion in the containment.

  • Reliable prediction of nuclear fuel rod behavior of nuclear power reactors constitutes a basic demand for steady-state calculations, design purposes, and fuel performance assessment. Perfect design of fuel rods as the first barrier against fission product release is very important. Simulation of fuel rod performance with a code or software is one of the fuel rod design steps. In this study, a software program called MARCODE is developed in MATLAB environment that can analyze the temperature distribution, gap conductance value, and fuel and clad displacement in both solid and annular fuel rods. With a comparison of the maximum fuel temperature, fuel average temperature, fuel surface temperature, and gap conductance in solid and annular fuel, the effects of a central hole on the fuel temperature distribution are investigated.

  • The integration of CAD and CAM is critical for computer aided process planning. Recently, STEP has been emerged and utilized as a product data exchange standard format in CAD/CAM areas. The assembly information consists of assembly component relations, assembly features, assembly directions and mating conditions. The purpose of this study is to develop an efficient algorithm to extract assembly information directly from the STEP based files and to generate automatically assembly process plan from the extracted assembly features. The developed algorithms will generate assembly information codes for STEP(AICS). The results from this study can be a reasonable link between design and manufacturing for developing better CAAPP(Computer-Aided Assembly Process Planning) systems.

  • EPCglobal은 기업 간의 물류 활동 촉진과 글로벌 유통물류 시스템 구축을 위하여 EPCglobal Architecture Framework을 제시 하였다. EPCglobal Architecture Framework의 한 구성요소인 EPCIS(Electronic Product Code Information Services)는 EPC 기반 물류 관련 정보에 대한 저장 및 검색 서비스를 제공한다. EPCIS는 단발성 질의(poll)와 연속 질의(subscribe) 검색 서비스를 제공한다. EPCIS의 연속 질의는 시스템 자동화 및 재고 관리, 공급망 관리를 위해 다양한 응용에서 활용이 가능하다. 일반적으로 연속 질의의 성능을 향상시키기 위해서는 질의 색인을 사용한다. 그러나 EPCIS는 13차원의 도메인과 모든 데이터 필드가 필수 조건이 아니라는 것으로 인해, 차원의 저주 및 무한 영역 질의 문제를 발생 시킨다. 본 논문에서는 EPCIS의 물류 데이터의 연속 질의 처리를 위한 다차원 색인 기법을 제안한다. 13차원의 도메인을 여러 개의 질의 색인으로 구성하고, 등록된 질의 및 입력되는 데이터에 의해 변경되는 동적 질의 실행 계획을 제안함으로써, 차원의 저주와 무한 영역 질의의 문제를 해결하고, EPCIS에서 다수의 연속 질의 등록 시 효율적으로 처리가 가능하도록 한다.

Multidisk data allocation method based on genetic algorithm (유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 다중 디스크 데이터 배치 방식)

  • Multi-disk data allocation problem examined in this paper is to find a method to distribute a Binary Cartesian Product File on multiple disks to maximize parallel disk I/O accesses for partial match retrieval. This problem is known to be NP-hard, and heuristkc approaches have been applied to obtain sub-optimal solutions. Recently, efficient methods have been proposed with a restriction that the number of disks in which files are stored should be power of 2. In this paper, we propose a new disk Allocation method based on Genetic Algorithm(GA) to remove the restriction on the number of disks to be applied. Using the schema theory, we prove that our method can find a near-optimal solutionwith high probability. We compare the quality of solution derived by our method with General Disk Modulo, Binary Disk Modulo, and Error Correcting Code methods through the simulation. The simulation results show that proposed GA is superior to GDM method in all cases and provides comparable performance to the BDM method which has a restriction on the number of disks.

The Design of a Near-Field Antenna with a Ferrite Sheet for UHF EPC Applications

  • In this letter, a small-loop antenna for a mobile UHF RFID device is proposed. To achieve size reduction, a ferrite sheet optimized for a 900 MHz band is applied. The overall dimensions of the antenna are $46mm{\times}35mm{\times}0.24mm$, and it has a bandwidth of 45 MHz with a return loss of less than -6 dB. The proposed antenna satisfies near and far field UHF EPC global frequency band communications (902-928 MHz).

  • EPC를 탑재한 RFID 형태의 스마트객체를 이용한 물류 시스템을 구축하기 위해서는 시스템 구성 요소간의 거래에 필수적인 RFID 객체의 PML 데이터를 표현하고 검색요구에 대응하는 RFID 정보서비스의 설계 및 관리가 매우 중요하다. EPC기반 RFID 정보서비스는 네트워크상의 정보시스템들에 보안과 운영의 이유로 분산되어 있는 RFID 객체 정보들을 검색하여 사용자가 요구하는 결과를 반환하는 역할을 담당한다. 하지만 RFID 객체 정보의 표준화된 표현과 처리, 그리고 분산처리로 인한 통신량과 처리시간과다의 문제가 존재한다. 이에 대해서 본 연구는 물류시스템의 PML 데이터의 표현 및 사용, 검색패턴을 분석하고, 분석 결과를 기반으로 미들웨어를 이용하는 분산형 RFID 객체 데이터 관리 및 RFID 객체 정보서비스 구조를 설계하고 제시하였다. 단일형 및 통합형 RFID 정보서비스 구조를 제시하였다.

Numerical Investigation on the Thermal and Flow Characteristics of Combustion Heater for Commercial Vehicle (차량용 연소식 난방기의 열 및 유동특성에 대한 수치연구)

  • The diesel pre-heater has being used in cabin heating and coolant heating of engine to reduce the engine warm up time for commercial vehicle. The pre-heaters are classified as diesel spray combustor and it forms diffusion flame. By using swirler, a recirculation flow of hot product gases is established near the fuel nozzle and it helps the maintaining of diffusion flame. The design difference of swirler can affect on reaction characteristics and temperature distribution inside pre-heater. The purpose of this study is the investigation of the effect of swirler configuration on combustion characteristics. To solve spray combustion problem, the Euler-Lagrange approach discrete model is used to track droplet trajectory and evaporation history. The PDF equilibrium model is used for chemical reaction model. These models are implemented into the FLUENT code.

  • Fiber reinforced injection molded parts are widely used in recent years because of their improved properties of materials such as specific stiffness, specific strength, and specific toughness. The demand for products with high precision is increasing and it is important to minimize the warpage of the products. The warpage of short-fiber reinforced product is caused by anisotropy induced by fiber orientation as well as the residual stresses induced during the molding process. In order to reduce the warpage of the part, it is important to achieve successful mold design, processing control, and part design. In the present study, the design of gating system, molding condition, and part structure were carried out and verified with numerical analysis using a commercial CAE code Moldflow. The numbers and locations of gates were iteratively determined, and the molding conditions which can decrease the warpage of the part were investigated. Finally, slight structural modification of the part was conducted to reduce the locally concentrated warpage.
