  • After analyzing the actual acquisition status of carbon labeling by year and by product for the past four years, as well as its certification in the construction-related sectors of greenhouse gas emission, this study attempted to present the problems and coping strategies upon issuing the carbon labeling certification in the landscape architecture. During the period of this analysis, the carbon labelings were acquired by 134 enterprises, 267 workplaces, and 735 products, while the percentage of acquisition was highest in the regular non-durable goods(49%), followed by energy-consuming durable goods(26%), regular production goods (19%), regular durable goods(3%), and service(3%). Furthermore, the acquisition certifications in construction sectors, were highest in the various pipes/panel(8 cases), followed by concrete(6 cases), gypsum board(4 cases), and landscape architecture materials(2 cases). The landscape architecture only had two cases in the acquisition certification for the first time in 2012, which accounted for 0.27% of the entire certification products, due to the uncertainty in the process, the lack of professionalism, and the lack of comprehension. However, the study conducted on the coping strategies for carbon labeling in the landscape architecture revealed the following: (1) regular reporting system management through the division of labor in the head office and factories, (2) the building of objective DB through the adoption of data management programs such as SAP, (3) continuous promotion and vitalization of the incentive system, (4) the adoption of mandatory or preferential application system in landscaping projects, management, and bidding, (5) enhancement of elasticity in deliberation of certification by recruiting experts in the landscape architecture sectors, and (6) provision of incentives for the cooperative firms acquiring the certification and support for their participation.

  • A new product development and product realization process (PRP) is a circulating and feedback process by generating ideas through creative problem solving process. The early stages of PRP correspond to conceptual design and product development, in which a large portion of product life cycle cost can be saved. The optimal design method for this stage is a robust design suggested by Taguchi. Quality must be 'engineered in' since it can not be 'inspected out.' A robust design is an engineering methodology to improve the quality of a product by minimizing the efforts of variations without eliminating the causes. The objective of this study is to propose a scheme and a case study of robust design for exploring design parameters, and introduce a creative problem solving process. Major research subjects include a creative problem solving process, robust design procedure and their implementation. For the experiment of Taguchi method, a toy catapult is adopted. For the creativity development, a short project is assigned to devise a similar tool with the toy catapult. A reference model is suggested to compare and evaluate their ideas.

  • It is difficult to make which customers want in restaurant industry because of IMF situation. Therefore, utilization of service marketing is needed by best effect through least investment in restaurant industry. The background of restaurant industry is not directly related to the improvement of tourism industry. We should give a hand to tourism and restaurant industry by holding international events. so the way of thinking among people is changing. And importing of famous foreign brand and opening shops are accellerating the improvement of tourism and restaurant industry. In this perspective, improvement factors of restaurant industry are as follows : the increase of pst time, the increase of disposable income, the increase of woman's having jobs and double income, requirement of people about health food, the increase of nuclear family, and the change of viewpoint among people. This restaurant industry is service industry, and it sells invisible service except the aspect of selling menu. In addition, in terms of menu, price reduction strategy should be done by cost reduction and restructuring. The ultimate purpose of marketing is to increase sales and to do this we should increase the number of customers in shops. That means we should create new customers and try to attract customers who used to be regular in the shops. Therefore, the demonstration of management ability and positive reaction is really needed. So the most important things in marketing are as follows: proper strategy for double consumption, increasing the number of customers through new specific menu, menu life cycle according to menu item, menu development by considering customer, making recipe, enhancement of product quality and cost reduction by customer's opinion. We should concentrate on national menu first, and try to develop menu for international market. It is absolutely needed that we set up the menu product strategy through menu marketing with various products and constant study related to menu marketing is to be done.

  • Water footprint of a product and service is the volume of freshwater used to produce the product, measured in the life cycle or over the full supply chain. Since water footprint assessment helps us to understand how human activities and products relate to water scarcity and pollution, it can contribute to seek a sustainable way of water use in the consumption perspective. For the introduction of WFP scheme, it is indispensable to construct water inventory/accounting for the assessment, but there is no database in Korea to cover all industry sectors. Therefore, the aim of the study is to develop water footprint inventory within a nation at 403 industrial sectors using Input-Output Analysis. Water uses in the agricultural sector account for 79% of total water, and industrial sector have higher indirect water at most sectors, which is accounting for 82%. Most of the crop water is consumptive and direct water except rice. The greatest water use in the agricultural sectors is in rice paddy followed by aquaculture and fruit production, but the greatest water use intensity was not in the rice. The greatest water use intensity was 103,263 $m^3$/million KRW for other inedible crop production, which was attributed to the low economic value of the product with great water consumption in the cultivation. The next was timber tract followed by iron ores, raw timber, aquaculture, water supply and miscellaneous cereals like corn and other edible crops in terms of total water use intensity. In holistic view, water management considering indirect water in the industrial sector, i.e. supply chain management in the whole life cycle, is important to increase water use efficiency, since more than 56% of total water was indirect water by humanity. It is expected that the water use intensity data can be used for a water inventory to estimate water footprint of a product for the introduction of water footprint scheme in Korea.

  • RUP(Rational Unified Process) is a development process which is based on object-oriented, use case centric, architecture centric, and iterative approach. Public projects performed previously adopt waterfall lifecycle model for development of large scale software. However, recently various projects adopt an iterative approach to minimize risks of a project and to enhance quality of software. But few research result on practices of RUP as the subprocess of system development process is available. This paper presents a system development process which uses RUP as the subprocess for a subset of the system. Thus we introduce a tailored RUP for K-CIS(Korean Core Instrumentation System). Moreover, we assess the application result of K-CIS with typical waterfall lifecycle model and RUP. We believe that the results of our work are useful for tailoring a system development process with RUP, reducing risks of development, and enhancing the quality of a final product.

  • The PC structure based on the OSC (Off-Site Construction) is mentioned as a representative method of innovation in the construction industry that converts the existing construction environment from site-centered to factory production-transportation-site assembly. However, recent research on PC method has focused on improving the functions of subsidiary materials and improving the production system to increase productivity and institutional / policy R&D that can be universally applied to the life-cycle stage of ordering / design /construction is insufficient. In particular, the absence of standardized cost calculation standards makes it difficult to calculate and verify of objectified appropriate construction cost. So which is an obstacle to the activation of the PC method. In this study, the standards for construction costs of domestic and foreign PC method were surveyed and similar Construction Standard Production Rates were analyzed to confirm the product structure suitable for PC method. Subsequently, the construction procedures and input resources for each PC subsidiary materials were identified through on-site surveys to derive component for subsidiary materials, and the factors of change in the product according to the construction characteristics(height, weight of subsidiary material) were verified. As a result the standard product calculation system suitable for the site installation of the PC method for apartment was presented.

  • Although the bimodal mixed weibull distribution is used to developing burn-in model widely, the failure times for a component or a system is often truncated at some time, T, due to the obsolescence in the electronics industry. In this paper, we will determine minimum total cost and burn-in time by using the bimodal mixed weibull distribution and the truncated bimodal mixed weibull distribution under the free warranty policy. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, when products or system is not repairable, the width of the change of burn-in time can be larger by ${\beta}_1,\;{\beta}_2$ Second, if burn-in time become longer, it will be impossible to consider the bum-in in a long time, and in this case, the burn-in time should be shorten by the acceleration burn-in. Third, in case that opportunity loss cost or repair cost is exceed the warranty cost, or the total cost of considering burn-in is larger than that of not considering burn-in, it is not existed burn-in time which makes total cost to minimize. Forth, the shorter life-cycle of product, the more burn-in times will be decreased and the cost in considering burn-in will be increased

  • Over the last decade, Saudi Arabia has experienced significant economic increases as evidenced by the 30% growth in its gross domestic product; furthermore, the construction industry has increased 10% in the same time period. Due to this significant growth, the construction industry is encountering issues related to construction quality resulting in significant waste and associated environmental impacts. In this research, we applied our previously developed framework that integrates three different methods-Lean, Green, and Six-sigma - to a residential construction complex in Saudi Arabia. Our aim of this case study was to explore the application of the framework in practice to glean quantitative results and further validate the framework. In the case study, we used the developed framework to identify a significant issue related to quality and delays - final completion of 53 residential units was delayed because of failed exterior buildings surfaces. We then used the framework to define the causes behind the defects via a field investigation of the 53 units. Of the defect, construction execution was responsible for 43% of the defect, 31% untrained workers, 19% unfavorable construction weather condition, with 7% accounting for other issues. A procedure was developed in concert with the construction manager and overall developer reducing the amount of rework and waste causes revealed by the field examination and the framework. Although two steps were added to the original construction process to overcome waste causes, still save a lot of resources and reduces environmental impact. In summary, we found that the Lean, Green, Six-sigma framework increased productivity, quality, and reduced waste.

  • Customer's purchase state consists of purchase inertia and variety-seeking. As the growing brand familiarity triggers the increase of brand attractiveness, customers purchase state will be of inertia. However the excessively growing brand familiarity ignites the decrease of brand attractiveness. Followingly the purchase state will be tend to plunge into the variety-seeking state. The main topic of this study is to validate the asymmetric formation of customer's purchase states between inertia and variety-seeking. In order to follow up the main topic, this article introduces a model to freely describe the velocity of value changes depending upon the purchase states. This model will help overcome the limitation of the past studies having been based on the symmetric value changes. Based on this approach marketer will be able to decide the timing of sales promotions. This research utilized local telecommunication carrier's database of smartphone application purchase/download records. This database was collected from two years (2009 and 2010) span, the time when the smartphones started commodifying in Korea whilst most of the past studies had used purchase data of maturity stage products. From this approach utilizing the introduction stage data in the product life cycle, the probability of brand choice depending upon the purchase state on the early-stage can be probed. Moreover, this study tries to expand the research methodology from the other areas of research by knowledge sharing. Here this study introduces the methodology of section-aggregated multinomial logit to simultaneously estimate the parameters that were included in the plural multinomial logit functions while the plural functions were inter-connected. This adoption of section-aggregated multinomial logit model procedures from the computerized statistics areas is expected to nourish the marketing research for more precise analysis and estimation of effects of marketing activities.
