  • With the development of the sharing economy, existing recommender services are changing from user-item recommendations to user-user recommendations. The most important consideration is that all users should have the best possible satisfaction. To achieve this outcome, the matching service adds information between users and items necessary for the existing recommender service and information between users, so higher-level data mining is required. To this end, this paper proposes a user-to-user matching service (UTU-MS) employing the prediction of mutual satisfaction based on learning. Users were divided into consumers and suppliers, and the properties considered for recommendations were set by filtering and weighting. Based on this process, we implemented a convolutional neural network (CNN)-deep neural network (DNN)-based model that can predict each supplier's satisfaction from the consumer perspective and each consumer's satisfaction from the supplier perspective. After deriving the final mutual satisfaction using the predicted satisfaction, a top recommendation list is recommended to all users. The proposed model was applied to match guests with hosts using Airbnb data, which is a representative sharing economy platform. The proposed model is meaningful in that it has been optimized for the sharing economy and recommendations that reflect user-specific priorities.

  • In order to design accurately sand compaction pile (SCP) method with low replacement area ratio, it is important to understand the mechanical interaction between sand piles and clays and its mechanism during consolidation process of the composition ground. In this paper, a series of numerical analyses on composition ground improved by SCP with low replacement area ratio were carried out, in order to investigate the mechanical interaction between sand piles and clays. The applicability of numerical analyses, in which an elasto-viscoplastic consolidation finite element method was applied, could be confirmed comparing with results of a series of model tests on consolidation behaviors of composition ground improved by SCP. And, through the results of the numerical analyses, each mechanical behavior of sand piles and clays in the composition ground during consolidation was elucidated, together with stress sharing mechanism between sand piles and clays.

  • In this paper, a zero torque control scheme adopting current sharing function (CSF) used in integrated Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drive with DC battery charger is proposed. The proposed control scheme is able to achieve the keeping position (KP), zero torque (ZT) and power factor correction (PFC) at the same time with a simple novel current sharing function algorithm. The proposed CSF makes the proper reference for each phase windings of SRM to satisfy the total charging current of the battery with zero torque output to hold still position with power factor correction, and the copper loss minimization during of battery charging is also achieved during this process. Based on these, CSFs can be used without any recalculation of the optimal current at every sampling time. In this proposed integrated battery charger system, the cost effective, volume and weight reduction and power enlargement is realized by function multiplexing of the motor winding and asymmetric SR converter. By using the phase winding as large inductors for charging process, and taking the asymmetric SR converter as an interleaved converter with boost mode operation, the EV can be charged effectively and successfully with minimum integral system. In this integral system, there is a position sliding mode controller used to overcome any uncertainty such as mutual inductance or DC offset current sensor. Power factor correction and voltage adaption are obtained with three-phase buck type converter (or current source rectifier) that is cascaded with conventional SRM, one for wide input and output voltage range. The practicability is validated by the simulation and experimental results by using a laboratory 3-hp SRM setup based on TI TMS320F28335 platform.

  • Constructed upon Knowledge Management (KM) processes, the current study aims to investigate the interrelationship between Knowledge Sharing (KS) attitude among the faculty members and KM processes in higher education institutes (HEIs) in Pakistan along with the intervening role of subjective norms between KM processes and KS attitude. This research incorporated the theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) to conceptualize the KS behavior by using a sample frame of 302 academic and administrative staff from research-based HEIs in Quetta, Pakistan. A questionnaire-based survey was conducted on permanent faculty members from different universities of Quetta, Pakistan. The finding of the study shows a positive attitude among the researchers. The study empirically examined the interface between KM processes and KS attitude and higher education performance while providing valuable insights into the prevailing literature by investigating the mediating role of subject norms. The impact of subjective norms on KS attitude and KM process indicates the importance and basic determinant in organizational premises and improvement of skills of faculty management in HEIs. The partial mediation also reveals the importance of subjective norms in the development of faculty members' KM and KS attitude process.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate 1) the types of knowledge students ask for in their reading comprehension of science textbooks using an online annotation system, 2) the accuracy of the knowledge provided by the students to their peers, 3) the frequency of knowledge sharing behaviors, 4) the evaluation of the effect of collaborative reading, and 5) the trust among peers as knowledge sharers. Questions made by 241 students in the second grade of middle school using an online annotation system in two chapters of the science textbook were analyzed using Bloom's revised taxonomy and their answers were grouped according to five accuracy categories. Also, questionnaires for the evaluation of the effectiveness of collaborative reading comprehension and of trust among the students were used. The students asked their peers 'understanding questions' which comprised almost 80% of the total questions they made and were similar with individual metacognitive strategies for reading comprehension. Of the total threads, 71% has scientifically correct threads shared by the students. The frequency of the knowledge sharing behaviors was high but this was affected by the rewards (point system). Students evaluated that collaborative reading comprehension conducted through an online annotation system were helpful in their learning. In addition, the ratio of students trusting their peers who did the knowledge sharing is over 80%. This study shows that when students use an online annotation system, they can fill one another's cognitive gaps in the reading process by sharing knowledge. Also, collaborative reading using an online annotation system has proved that cognitive individualization is possible through sharing knowledge interactively and dynamically, unlike reading hard copies of textbooks which are a one way information transfer.

  • This study developed a system that can collect, manage, and utilize the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) based on the data standardization and quality management principles and presented the analysis data collected from the existing system. Unlike many other countries in the world, Korea demonstrated a rapid response by conducting epidemiological investigations. Further, the local governments have actively shared the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 to facilitate proactive prevention of the infectious disease per the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Law. However, currently, there is no standard protocol for the local governments to share the information, thus complicating the process of sharing, managing, and utilizing the collected data. Therefore, this study developed a system that can facilitate sharing of the travel routes of individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 by establishing database construction procedures and using the travel route of COVID-19 patients as per the Disaster & Safety Information Sharing Platform and developing a data processing guideline, a data entry system with default templates, and Open API. Although this sharing system was designed to communicate the travel routes of COVID-19 patients, it can also be utilized in case of other infectious diseases. Therefore, it can be used as a response strategy for future outbreaks of infectious diseases.

  • During the lifecycle of a nuclear power plant many organizations are involved in KOREA. Korea Plant Engineering Co. (KOPEC) participates in the design stage, Korea Hydraulic and Nuclear Power (KHNP) operates and manages all nuclear power plants in KOREA, Dusan Heavy Industries manufactures the main equipment, and a construction company constructs the plant. Even though each organization has a digital data management system inside and obtains a certain level of automation, data sharing among organizations is poor. KHNP gets drawing and technical specifications from KOPEC in the form of paper. It results in manual re-work of definition and there are potential errors in the process. A data warehouse based on a neutral model has been constructed in order to make an information bridge between design and O&M phases. GPM(generic product model), a data model from Hitachi, Japan is addressed and extended in this study. GPM has a similar architecture with ISO 15926 "life cycle data for process plant". The extension is oriented to nuclear power plants. This paper introduces some of implementation results: 1) 2D piping and instrument diagram (P&ID) and 3D CAD model exchanges and their visualization; 2) Interface between GPM-based data warehouse and KHNP ERP system.

  • Nowadays Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a significant source of sharing project information in the construction industry. This method of sharing the information enhances the project understanding among stakeholders. Modeling of information using BIM is becoming an essential part of many construction projects around the globe. Despite rapid adoption of BIM in construction industry still, some sectors of the industry like earthwork have not yet reaped its full benefits. BIM has brought a paradigm shift through identification and integration of the roles and responsibilities of project participants on a single platform. BIM is a 3D model-based process which provides the insight into the efficient project planning and design. The 3D modeling can also be used significantly for the design of temporary structures in an earthwork project. This paper presents the quantity take-off methodology and parametric modeling technique for creating the temporary structures using 3D BIM process. A case study is conducted to implement the proposed temporary structure family design on a real site project. The study presented is beneficial for the earthwork project stakeholders to extract the relevant information using 3D BIM models in a project. It provides an opportunity to calculate the quantity of material required for a project accurately.

  • VMS (virtual manufacturing system) may be defined as a transparent interface/control mechanism to support human decision-making via simulation and monitoring of real operating situation through modeling of all activities in RMS (real manufacturing system). The three main layers in VMS are business process layer, manufacturing execution layer, and facility operation layer, and each layer is represented by a specific software system having its own input modeler module. The current version of these input modelers has been implemented based on its own 'local' framework, and as a result, there are no information sharing mechanism, nor a common user view among them. Proposed in this paper is a unified modeler framework covering the three VMS layers, in which the concept of PPR (product-process-resource) model is employed as a common semantics framework and a 2D graphic network model is used as a syntax framework. For this purpose, abstract class PPRObject and GraphicObject are defined and then a subclass is inherited from the abstract class for each application layer. This feature would make it easier to develop and maintain the individual software systems. For information sharing, XML is used as a common data format.
