  • Polyurethane is an elastomer polymer, which is flexible, tough and resistant. This material is widely used various fields such as automobile, aeroplane, textiles, construction industries. Currently there exists more than 1,000 manufacturing companies in Korea that are closely related to Polyurethane. In spite of a number of Polyurethane manufacturing companies, there are little attention in academia as well as industries to study the safety and manufacturing process improvement on Polyurethane. In this paper, we consider a case study for the Polyurethane manufacturer to improve productivity by using safety management and manufacturing process reengineering. After careful analysis, we derive three enhancements to increasing the safety and productivity for the target company. Especially, we achieve about 16% productivity improvement in roller manufacturing process by replacing manual stirring job with automated mixing machine.

  • Improving the productivity of steel cord is required due to the increase in demand for it, even though steel cord being used as a reinforcement of a tire has been produced at multi-pass wet wire drawing process over 1000m/min. To improve the productivity, if just increase drawing speed, it causes temperature rise, fracture arisen by embrittlement during drawing process. To increase drawing speed affecting productivity, the variation of wire temperature during multi-pass wet wire drawing process is investigated in this study. In result, the multi-pass wet wire drawing process is redesigned. The redesigned wet drawing process with 27 passes efficiently controls wire temperature during drawing process. It, therefore, enables drawing process to be possible at ultra high speed with 2000m/min. It becomes possible to improve the productivity of steel cord in this paper because the increase in drawing speed could be achieved.

  • According to the trend of tail building, it is essential to improve productivity in tall building construction. However, the study on that is insufficient until now. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to propose a new work process of efficient concrete structural fame work to improve productivity in tall building construction. The results of being applied proposed work process are that the 5day cycle time of concrete structural frame work is cut by 0.5day and the quantity of rebar to be demanded in concrete structural frame work is reduced.

  • Recently groupware has been popularly adopted by corperations to gain competitive position. In Korea, one of major function of those systems is the Electronic Authorizing System because korean firms have authorizing system but western firms do not. Thus researches on EAS has never been produced before. The purpose of this research is to build the research framework for productivity measurement of EAS. The research model of EAS has investigated three dimensions including Business process, ease of system use and media richness to meet this end. Based on this model, author conducted case study with mailing questionaires. The result of research shows that the factors of the business process and ease of system use raise the productivity but the factor of electronic media a little decreases it. Also author finds business process affects the productivity in three ways such as changing layout of papers for authorizing, changing business process and removing waiting time for authorization. Finally, based on the result of research, this paper adds some recommendations for EAS builder.

  • The goals of enterprises are to use resources efficiently, minimize the costs or reduce unsuitable products with efficient process or production environment and take competitive advantages through efforts such as proper supply of good products, etc. so as to satisfy diversified customers and survive in rough competition. To reduce production costs, it's inevitable to make unsuitable products during the production in manufacturing process. Therefore, this researcher grasped LED assembly process and drew the results of productivity improvement through process analysis so as to improve productivity by process anlaysis.

  • The competitiveness of the manufacturing company is evaluated in terms of line productivity, quality cost, inventory level, logistics efficiency, and so on. The productivity is defined by the number of products divided by the number of workers within the given operation time. Increasing the productivity is not easy to man-operated situation in the line, since it heavily depends on the standard time of the workers. This paper deals with the productivity of the Back Light Unit assembler for TFT-LCD, and proposes the methodology of investigating the optimal process by simulation of Arena.

  • This study describes the creation of a scale to measure standardization for service encounter process. Measuring standardization of service encounter process is devided into manual level and action level. We investigate the relative impact of process standardization about service quality, job satisfaction and labor productivity. Our findings indicate that action level of service encounter process standardization is more important than manual level, and its process standardization positively affects service quality, job satisfaction and labor productivity positively.

  • In this study, the productivity and environmental effects of laser aided direct metal deposition (LADMD) process which is one of promising rapid manufacturing technology is evaluated. The production time predicted using PowerMill shows that the productivity of LADMD is superior to that of conventional milling process. Though LADMD is known as an environment-friendly technology, it has a disadvantage to utilize much energy to generate laser beam. Considering both productivity and environmental effects, LADMD is expected to be widely used in remanufacturing industry.

  • Recently, industry needs a new design of Czochralski(Cz) process for higher productivity with reasonable energy consumption. In this study, we carried out computational simulations for finding out a new optimal design of Cz process with variables which can be applied in real industry such as location of heater, shape of shield and crucible size. Objective process was Cz process which can be produced 8 inch diameter Si ingot for solar cell and we acquired an optimal design for higher productivity, low power consumption with stable production condition. For higher productivity we also change the crucible diameter from 22 inches to 24 inches with changing insulation thickness only because the process housing size could not be changed in industry.
