Assessment of Non-Point Source Pollutant Loads and Priority Management Areas using an HSPF Model in Sejong City, South Korea

  • In this study, the discharge loads of non-point pollution sources were analyzed using a Hydrologic Simulation Program-Fortran (HSPF) model for 46 sub-watersheds in order to guide the management plan for water and streams passing through the city. The results using HSPF showed good applicability in comparison to point measurements, which were based on BOD, TP, and TN. The mean value of the BOD loads was $4.08kg/km^2$ per day, and the highest level of BOD was $17.75kg/km^2$ per day at Namri. Three potential areas of high priority for the installment of constructed wetlands were selected in order to reduce non-point pollution sources based on BOD loads and on environmental and economic conditions. The results for these scenarios indicated a maximum rate of reduction in BOD of 39.12% within the proposed constructed wetlands.

FDDI MAC 프로토콜의 우선순위 등급에 따른 매체 이용 평균시간에 관한 연구 (A Study on Average Access Times by Priority Levels of FDDI MAC Protocol)

  • FDDI MAC 프로토콜에서 8가지 어싱크로노스 액세스 우선순위 등급들의 평균 매체 이용시간을 전송효율, 메시지의 크기, 및 스테이션의 수를 파라미터로 하여서 조사하였다. 전송효율을 변수로 하였을 경우, 상위 우선순의 등급들의 평균 매체 이용시간은 우선순의 등급 별로 유사한 변화들을 나타내며 미시지의크기와 스테이션의 수를 변수로 한 경우는 큰 변화없이 거의 일정하였으나 메시지의 크기가 증가함에 따라 평균 매체 이용시간이 약간씩 증가하였으며, 스테이션 수의 증가에 대해서는 반대로 조금씩 감소하였다. 그러나 최하위 우선순위 등급의 경우, 3가지 변수에 대하여 평균 매체 이용시간이 상대적으로 큰 변화를 나타내었다.

  • It is impossible to take the instant action in the distribution system When fault occures in a substation because operation of the substation and the distribution system are separated. However the power system automation has been studying about unity operation and co-operation between SCADA and DAS(Distribution Automation System). In this paper proposes a new algorithm of efficiency restoration using a outage load switching to a healthy MTR a fault occurrence at a MTR in united system between DAS and SCADA. In addtion, proposed algorithm includes a outage restoration method which keeps MTR optimal capacity with reorganization of distribution network in case it can not restore outage state loads caused by shortage of healthy MTR remain capacity. In case that proposed sequence still can not complete restoration, this paper suggests a efficiency outage restoration with objective function included priority in outage loads. In the case studies, the proposed algorithm have been verified in 2 MTR and 3 MTR substation

  • This paper proposes a priority-based duplicate burst transmission mechanism in an optical burst switching network to enhance the probability of successful reception of bursts. The performance of the proposed mechanism is evaluated by NS2 simulations. Our results show that the burst loss rate is improved especially under light traffic loads.

  • This paper describes an optimal control scheduling of an encapsulated ice storage system with a chiller of nominal chiller 34RT(103,200kcal/hr) and an ice storage tank of 170RT-hrs(514,080 kcal). The optimization technique used in the study is dynamic programing. The objective function is summed cost during a day including charge and discharge periods. Control strategies being used commercially are chiller priority and storage priority control. In chiller priority control, the chiller is allowed to run at full capacity during the day, subject to limitations of the building load, and the ice is only melted when and if the load exceeds the chillers full capacity. In contrast to chiller priority control, the aim in storage priority control is to melt as much as ice as possible during the day time period. The system simulation calculates the operation costs for the three control strategies in the condition of the same cooling load and the same ice storage system. The simulation period is a day, assuming that initially the tank is stored fully and the cooling load is perfectly predicted for the scheduling. Also Final state of the tank is to be charged fully.

  • In this paper, we propose an energy efficient and multimedia traffic friendly MAC protocol (EEMF-MAC) that controls sender's wakeup period based on the data packet's transmission urgency and the receiver's wakeup periods based on the received data packet traffic loads. The protocol is useful for applications such as object tracking, real time data gathering, in which priority-based packet transmission is required. The basic idea of EEMF-MAC is that it uses the priority concept with transmission urgency of sender's data packet to reduce the transmission delay of the urgent data and it also uses duty cycling technique in order to achieve energy efficiency. EEMF-MAC showed a better performance in energy efficiency and packet transmission delay compared to existing protocols, RI-MAC and EE-RI-MAC.

  • This paper describes allocation strategies of controllable loads for load aggregator in power market with the direct load control (DLC) program, which is carried out the two-way confirmation procedure. So, it is needed to the priority among the controllable loads to perform effectively and quickly the confirmation task. In this paper, allocation strategies for market operator and/or load aggregator are proposed, which are based on the basic load patterns defined in this paper. To verify the soundness of proposed strategies. case study on a sample system is performed.

매설관의 구조적 안전성 평가에 관한 연구 (Assessment of Structural Safety of Buried Water Mains)

  • Criteria for rehabilitation priority are discussed to evaluate structural stability of deteriorated water transport and transmission pipes, in this study. For the purposes, safety factor is introduced and estimated by measuring tensile strength and by analyzing stress caused by the internal-external loads working on buried pipe body. Related informations are surveyed and collected under various conditions in the fields by digging out and the structural stability is assessed. In the evaluation results of structural safety, it is shown that steel pipe is more affected by external load than internal load. The average external load is estimated as $53.7kg/cm^2$ and total hoop stress is estimated by $2676.5kg/cm^2$. Also, Poisson effect into longitudinal direction due to internal and external loads is most influential on hoop stress. The calculated safety factors of hoop stress are ranged from 0.7 to 5.2 with average value of 2.1, considering a bending stress to longitudinal direction. The decision of rehabilitation priority by safety factors show that structural safety of CIP sample 1(S1) was assessed at the lowest order with safety factor value, 0.7 and that of DI sample 15(S15) was evaluated as the most stable in structural aspect.

  • Intensive competition in the electricity market and demand for higher quality service force the utilities to change their strategies in setting price and quality combination. As cost-up by homogeneously enhancing the electricity service quality may reduce their competitiveness, differential service is to be taken into consideration. Priority Service, which provides customers with a selection of service options at a range of prices and reliability for all or portions of their loads, has drawn attention from utilities in an increasingly competitive environment. Priority Service is to enlarge service options for customers who have diverse needs for supply reliability. This paper in the light of this point reviews differentiated strategy of power quality in the U.S.A.

IEEE 802.11e 무선랜에서 서비스 차별화를 통한 QoS 향상 방법 (QoS Enhancement Scheme through Service Differentiation in IEEE 802.11e Wireless Networks)

  • IEEE 802.11e의 EDCA (Enhanced Distributed Channel Access)는 무선 랜에서의 QoS(Quality of Service)를 지원하기 위해 표준화되었다. EDCA는 낮은 우선순위 트래픽의 채널 접근 확률을 낮춤으로써 높은 우선순위 트래픽에 QoS를 제공한다. 이는 높은 우선순위 트래픽에 대한 확정된(Deterministic) 우선순위를 제공하는 것이 아니라 통계적인(Statistical) 우선순위를 제공한다. 그러므로 낮은 우선 순위트래픽은 높은 우선순위 트래픽의 성능에 계속 영향을 미친다. 결과적으로 높은 채널 트래픽 환경에서 EDCA는 음성이나 비디오와 같은 멀티미디어 응용에 QoS를 보장하지 못한다. 본 논문에서는 EDCA 메커니즘의 QoS 성능을 향상시키기 위해 DPCA(Deterministic Priority Channel Access) 방법을 제안한다. 멀티미디어 응용에 보장된 우선순위 채널 접근을 제공하기 위해 제안된 방법은 높은 우선순위 트래픽이 전송할 패킷을 가지고 있을 때 낮은 우선순위 트래픽의 전송을 제한하기 위해 비지톤(Busy Tone)을 사용한다. 제안된 방법의 성능을 수학적 분석과 시뮬레이션을 통해 EDCA와 비교 분석한다. 성능 비교 분석 결과, 제안된 방법이 다양한 경쟁 수준 환경에서 EDCA보다 더 좋은 효율과 지연, 폐기율 등을 가짐을 확인하였다.
