Rainfall events in the hydrologic circulation are closely related with various meteorological factors. Therefore, in this research, correlation relationship was analyzed between sea surface temperature of typical meteorological factor and monthly rainfall on Korean peninsula. The cluster analysis was performed monthly average rainfall data, longitude and latitude observed by rainfall observatory in Korea. Results from cluster analysis using monthly rainfall data in South Korea were divided into 4 regions. The principal components of monthly rainfall data were extracted from rainfall stations separated cluster regions. A correlation analysis was performed with extracted principal components and sea surface temperatures. At the results of correlation analysis, positive correlation coefficients were larger than negative correlation coefficients. In addition, The 3 month of principal components on monthly rainfall predicted by locally weighted polynomial regression using observed data of sea surface temperature where biggest correlation coefficients have. The result of forecasting through the locally weighted polynomial regression was revealed differences in accuracy. But, this methods in the research can be analyzed for forecasting about monthly rainfall data. Therefore, continuous research need through hydrological meteorological factors like a sea surface temperature about forecasting of the rainfall events.
To study reliability and validity of PWI, this newly developed self-administered questionnaire which measures stress, was given to medical students. All respondent(133) were followed 4 weeks later and 92 were retested. Cronbach's $\alpha$ coefficient of data was 0.93. Test-retest reliability measured by Pearson's correlation coefficient was 0.72(P<0.01). Exploratory factor analysis(EFA) performed by principal axis factor method without iteration and by varimax rotation explored 13 principal components(eigenvalues > 1). After exploring 4 factor structure according to previous study results, factor 1 showed good agreement but other factors did not. Confirmatory factor analysis(CFA) showed poor fit of 4 factor model to data. In the further study, it may be considered to model that has unidimensional factor structure.
In this study, we analyzed the water quality characteristics of major tributaries of Nakdong River through statistical analysis such as correlation analysis, principal component and factor analysis, and cluster analysis. Organic matter and nutrients are highly correlated, and are high in spring and autumn, and seasonal water quality management is required. Principal component and factor analysis showed that 82% of total variance could be explained by 4 principal components such as organic matter, nutrients, nature, and weather. BOD, COD, TOC, and TP items were analyzed as major influencing factors. As a result of the cluster analysis, the four clusters were classified according to seasonal organic matter and nutrient pollution. Kumho River watershed showed high pollution characteristics in all seasons. Therefore, effective management of water quality in tributary streams requires measures in consideration of spatio-temporal characteristics and multivariate statistical techniques may be useful in water quality management and policy formulation.

Purpose: This study shows the prehospital emergency nursing practices, and analyzes them associated with their individual characteristics and job conditions. Method: Based on a survey of the National Emergency Medical Center in Korea(2008), principal components were extracted from 7 prehospital emergency nursing practices by factor analysis, and some regression analyses of principal components(CPR-AED and V/S-I.V.) were executed on individual characteristics and job conditions. Results: The PENs gave themselves higher order ratings for vital sign check, airway management for loss of consciousness patients, CPR for suspicious cardiac arrest, keeping vein open for shock patients, AED for abnormal pulse rate, AED for suspicious cardiac arrest, and AED for loss of consciousness. Age and duty periods were statistically significant influential factors on the CPR-AED component. Conclusion: The results indicate that the PENs were competent in overall prehospital emergency activities and procedures even some weak self-evaluations, and that the standard curriculum and practice standard for prehospital nursing should be developed in order to increase nursing leadership in prehospital emergency settings.

We proposed an improved reliable SVD-based watermarking scheme resistant to geometric attacks while having high fidelity with no false-positive problem. Principal components of a watermark image are embedded into singular values of LL, LH, HL, and HH sub-bands of a transformed cover image by RDWT(redundant discrete wavelet transform) with optimal scale factors. Each scale factor is generated by trading-off fidelity and robustness using Differential Evolution (DE) algorithm. Zernike Moment (ZM) is used to estimate the geometric distortion and to correct the watermarked image before extracting watermark. The proposed scheme improves fidelity and robustness of existing reliable SVD based watermarking schemes while resisting to geometric attacks.

Chemical characteristics and their interrelationships of 156 soils included by 74 sandy loam and 82 loam soils collected from plastic film house in Chungbuk area were investigated from 1998 to 2001. Seventeen chemical properties including pH, organic matter (OM), electrical conductivity (EC), inorganic nitrogen, available phosphorus, exchangeable cations, CEC, etc., were analyzed by correlation, standardized partial regression coefficient, and principal factor analysis. Standardized partial regression coefficients of chemical properties were estimated to determine the degree of contribution of EC and OM contents in soils. Principal factor analysis was applied to classify the studied chemical properties into different groups having similar chemical properties. The pH of experimental soils ranged from 4.24 to 7.14 and 4.95 to 7.35 for loam and sandy loam soils, respectively. The EC of soils varied from 0.93 to $15.65dS\;m^{-1}$ for loam and $0.91{\sim}22.30dS\;m^{-1}$ for sandy loam soils, respectively with significant differences among them. The EC measured by 1:5 $H_2O$ dilution method and saturation method were significantly related with 8.163 and 8.599 as the slopes of regression equation for loam and sandy loam soils, respectively. These slopes more than 8.0 in this regression equation was higher than the slope of 5.0 that is estimated from dilution coefficient suggesting that EC measured by 1:5 dilution method might be erratic. The standardized partial regression coefficient of different chemical properties for the estimation of EC was in the order of $NO_3{^-}$ > $Cl^-$ > OM > exchangeable Mg for loam soils and $NO_3{^-}$ > exchangeable Mg > $Cl^-$ for sandy loam soils. Contribution order of the chemical properties based on standardized partial regression coefficient differed 1:5 dilution method and saturation method, indicating that different chemical compounds might be present in the extract solutions of these two methods. Consequently the measurement of EC by saturation method was thought be still better for estimation of chemical property because accuracy of EC measurement by 1:5 dilution method can't be improved by any specific coefficient for adjustment of EC. Regardless of differences in soil textures and extraction methods, correlation coefficients between EC and the other chemical properties were routinely in the order of $NO_3{^-}$ > $Cl^-$ > degree of base saturation > exchangeable Mg > exchangeable Ca > $SO{_4}^{2-}$. The principal factor analysis revealed four factor groups of the chemical properties studied. The groups for sandy loam were as follows; ; 1. salt components, 2. soil reaction components, 3. fixed and adsorption components, 4. CEC components. The groupings of loam soils were similar to sandy loam except that exchangeable Na substituted the CEC of sandy loam.

The objectives of this research are to establish and confirm the human resources competency components for listed companies in the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The sample group used in this research includes the company president, business owner, managing director, assistant managing director, general manager or human resources manager of 140 listed companies. The research instrument is a scale-estimated questionnaire. The obtained data were subjected to principal component analysis and were analyzed for the rotation of the perpendicular component using the Varimax method. Results were generated through the analysis of eight components, consisting of decision-making, creativity, strategic thinking, relationship and communication, teamwork, adaptability, self-management, and motivation. The research results demonstrate important components in human resource performance that are critical to the successful development of organizations. Organizations can apply these components to the development of human resource competencies in accordance with the operations that need to be adjusted to suit the changes that occur. These rapidly-changing conditions are important factors that can be studied and developed into variables and components that affect human resource performance in the future. As a result, organizations need to adjust to be well prepared to face problems and challenges in the harsh competitive environment in the future.
The study of water environment system using a multivariate analysis in Changnyeong-Haman weir section has been conducted. Many small-scale ponds that serve as ecological habitat, recreation and irrigation are faced to eutrophication problem, which causes aesthetic nuisance and ultimately loss of their functions. Thus accurate evaluation of the trophic state of these ponds is essential to provide rational information to the stakeholders so that they can develop effective management actions. In this study, the trophic state of a small pond (Wonheung) that experiencing water quality degradation due to vicinity land development was assessed using various Trophic State Indexes (TSIs) and statistical analysis including Principal Components Analysis (PCA) based on the field monitoring data obtained from May to December, 2007. The results showed that the pond is under eutrophic state with average total nitrogen (T-N) and total phosphorus (T-P) concentrations of $708.1{\mu}g/L$ and $59.3{\mu}g/L$, respectively. The factor loading plot obtained from PCA showed distinct two influencing factors, PC 1 and PC 2. PC 1 was grouped by T-P, Chlorophyll a (Chl-a), suspended solids (SS), TN/TP ratio, and transparency that all strongly related to the eutrophication state, while PC 2 by temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen (DO) and turbidity that explains the seasonal water quality variations. The limiting factor was identified as light rather than phosphorus by both T-N/T-P ratio and TSI indexes analysis. The results and methodology adopted in this study can be used for water quality assessment for other small ponds and lakes.
Background: Currently available questionnaires for evaluating the quality of worklife do not fully examine every factor related to worklife in all cultures. A tool in Thai is therefore needed for the direct evaluation of the quality of worklife. Our aim was to translate the Work-related Quality of Life Scale-2 (WRQLS-2) into Thai, to assess the validity and reliability of the Thai-translated version, and to examine the tool's accuracy vis-$\grave{a}$-vis nursing in Thailand. Methods: This was a descriptive correlation study. Forward and backward translations were performed to develop a Thai version of the WRQLS. Six nursing experts participated in assessing content validity and 374 registered nurses (RNs) participated in its testing. After a 2-week interval, 67 RNs were retested. Structural validity was examined using principal components analysis. The Cronbach's alpha values were calculated. The respective independent sample t test and intraclass correlation coefficient were used to analyze known-group validity and test-retest reliability. Multistate sampling was used to select 374 RNs from the In- and Outpatient Department of Srinagarind Hospital of the Khon Kaen University (Khon Kaen, Thailand). Results: The content validity index of the scale was 0.97. Principal components analysis resulted in a seven-factor model, which explains 59% of the total variance. The overall Cronbach's alpha value was 0.925, whereas the subscales ranged between 0.67 and 0.82. In the assessment results, the known-group validity was established for the difference between civil servants and university employees [F (7.982, 0.005) and t (3.351; p < 0.05)]. Civil servants apparently had a better quality worklife, compared to university employees. Good test-retest reliability was observed (r = 0.892, p < 0.05). Conclusion: The Thai version of a WRQLS appears to be well validated and practicable for determining the quality of the work-life among nurses in Thailand.
