This study analyzed the structure of pricing in the automobile auction market by using real trade data. We focused on the bidding behavior of bidders and the contract price of exhibits. First, we proposed a relational framework among exhibits, number of bidders, and the contract price. Next, we utilized a neural network model to estimate the number of bidders and the contract price. Subsequently, we investigated the relationship between the number of bidders and the contact price, and evaluated our method through an analysis that employed verifying data. Lastly, we listed our suggestions for bidding in auction markets.
Price rigidity involves prices that do not change with the regularity predicted by standard economic theory. It is of long-standing interest for firms, industries and the economy as a whole. However, due to the difficulty of measuring price rigidity and price adjustments directly, only a few studies have attempted to provide empirical evidence for explanatory theories from Economics and Marketing. This paper proposes and validates a research model to examine different theories of price rigidity and to predict what variables can explain the observed empirical regularities and variations in price adjustment patterns of Internet-based retailers. I specify and test a model using more than 3 million daily observations on 385 books, 118 DVDs and 154 CDs, sold by 22 Internet-based retailers that were collected over a 676-day period from March 2003 to February 2005. I obtained a number of interesting findings from the estimation of our logit model. First, quality seems to play a role-I find that both price levels as proxies for store quality, and information on the quality of a product consumers have, affect online price rigidity. Second, greater competition(i.e., less industry concentration) leads to less price rigidity(i.e., more price changes) on the Internet. I also find that Internet-based sellers more frequently change the prices of popular products, and the sellers with broader product coverage change prices less frequently, which seem due to economic forces faced by these Internet-based sellers. To the best of my knowledge, this research is the first to empirically assess price rigidity patterns for multiple industries in Internet-based retailing, and attempt to explain the variation in these patterns. I found that price changes are more likely to be driven by quality, competitive and economic considerations. These results speak to both the IS and economics literatures. To the IS literature these results suggest we take economic considerations into account in more sophisticated ways. The existence and variation in price rigidity argue that simplistic assumptions about frictionless and completely flexible digital prices do not capture the richness of pricing behavior on the Internet. The quality, competitive and economic forces identified in this model suggest promising directions for future theoretical and empirical work on their role in these technologically changing markets. To the economics literature these results offer new evidence on the sources of price rigidity, which can then be incorporated into the development of models of pricing at the firm, industry and even macro-economic level of analysis. It also suggests that there is much to be learned through interdisciplinary research between the IS, economics and related business disciplines.

Depending most of its energy sources on foreign countries, Korea efforts to reduce energy consumption in transportation. While studies on the relationship between gas price and transportation demand are many in number, most previous studies have focused on automobile and Seoul. This study analyzes the impact of gas price on transit (bus and subway) demand using monthly data and for various metropolitan areas (Seoul, Busan, Daejeon, Daegu and Gwangju). The research utilizes a time-series model and a multiple regression model, and calculates modal demand elasticities of gas price. The result shows that elasticities of subway demand with respect to gas price is higher than those of bus demand. In addition, elasticities of predominantly automobile cities are more likely to be more sensitive to gas price than those of cities with well-structured transit system.

Power TAC (Power Trading Agent Competition) is an agent-based simulation for competitions between electricity brokering agents on the smart grid. To win the competition, agents obtain electricity from the electricity wholesale market among the power plants. In this operation, a key to success is balancing the demand of the customer and the supply from the plants because any imbalance results in a significant penalty to the brokering agent. Given the bidding on the wholesale market requires the price and the quantity on the electricity, this paper proposes four different price estimation strategies: exponentially moving average, linear regression, fuzzy logic, and support vector regression. Our evaluations with the competition simulation show which strategy is better than which, and which strategy wins in the free-for-all situations. This result is a crucial component in designing an electricity brokering agent in both Power TAC and the real world.
This study is to examine the effects of marketing communications strategies which are also buying brand image and beauty services supplier discount information on consumer attitudes. Beauty service providers will have to consider that price discounts are worried impact on the brand image and purchase intentions. In this study, an empirical analysis demonstrated the impact on the brand image, price discount and discounts way. Discount in this study was shown to negatively affect the brand image, there is also a purchased showed a positive impact. Therefore, the proposed price reductions only way to save off the asking price was lower this distinction and professionalism. On the other hand, intent-upon price discount were positive. If such a price discount if the discount just present attitude towards the use of low discount rates but suggested it was found that the intent is absolutely high.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the determinants which cause a price differential between common and preferred stock. Prior studies have shown that variables like liquidity, size, the number of outstanding shares issued can explain the price differential between common and preferred stock price. Based on year 2006 through year 2008 data, we analyzed the determinants using regression model. Dummy variables representing large/small company and KSE/KOSDAQ respectively are added and analyzed as independent variables. The firm size, trade volume turnover, and the number of preferred shares to total outstanding shares were proved to make influence on the price differential under the 5% significance level. Especially, we have found the number of preferred shares to total outstanding shares provide the most strong relationship with the price differential. This means that a high ratio of preferred stock to total outstanding shares leads to relatively high value of common stock and causes a big price differential.
The current study investigates major factors which influence the consumer's selection of internet shopping malls. Based on the technology acceptance model(TAM)(Davis, 1989) and trust theory(McKnight & Chervany, 2001), consumer selection factors from marketing research(Burke, 1997;Dodds et al, 2001), perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust, service quality, and product price were hypothesized as to affect the consumer's decision to choose one's specific internet shopping malls. The study developed a research model to explain the shopping mall selection and collected the survey responses from 312 internet shopping mall users. The results of the current research indicate that all the research variables employed in the study, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, trust, service quality, and product price, are found to significantly influence the consumer's shopping mall selection decision. Among the influencing factors, price, service quality, and trust showed a greater effect on the shopping mall selection than usefulness and ease of use. This result implies that purchase-related variables such as price and service quality may be more critical to attracting customers and thereby raising the sales volume of the shopping mall, than the web site's usefulness and ease of use.
The Internet is taking up every single life of us with a huge speed of growth. If the ideal market called 'perfect competition' in economics will ever come true in this digital world, the sellers won't be able to have monopolistic profits above the marginal cost any more, letting the resource allocation much more efficient. This paper attempts to test whether this theory is true in e-market as well through observing price differences between online and offline retailers of extremely homogeneous products, CDs. Since most results from previous research were supporting the inefficiency of e-market in price level, price adjustment, and especially price dispersion, this article designed the research methodology most carefully. The results of pervious works are partly due to the immaturity of the Internet market or due to the uniqueness of the American CD market, where oligopolistic market players are significantly dominant. The analysis of price data of 20 titles from 20 retailers for five weeks supports that online market is more efficient than offline market with statistical significance in all the three dimensions. We could conclude that the e-market is going much more efficient at least compared to the offline market and the more would it be unless the sellers resist and prevent comparison-shopping.
Purpose Product characteristics and price value in website have strongly effects on customer satisfaction. Especially, in the online shopping site, the scarcity limits the customer's opportunity to purchase the product. Thus scarcity has been proposed as a important factor that makes the customer highly aware of the merchantability of the product. The scarcity in the web store is used as an important variable to make purchasing decisions of users easier by psychological pressure. In the case of scarce products with price discounts in online commerce, advertising formats that highlight scarcity value in the web commerce market are very effective in enhancing purchase intentions of consumers. Unlike offline stores, the importance of scarcity becomes more important when reflecting the characteristics of online commerce. Therefore, this study intends to confirm the influence of the degree of price discounts and scarcity information presented by Web sites on consumer purchase behavior in Web purchase behavior. Design/methodology/approach This study conducted a web-based experimental study on price sensitivity and price discount. Therefore, we created experimental web-sites that offer two stimuli according to the discount rate. The 200 respondents were randomly assigned. The stimuli were fictitious based on tourism products. The first stimulus presented the price discount(15% discount) with basic explanation about the package of the tourist package. The stimuli assigned to the second group were used for groups with high price discount intensity(65% discount). In this way, the two stimuli clearly distinguished the level of price discount intensity. This paper conducted t-test analysis and structural equation to analyze the experiemental results after confirming the reliability and validity. Findings The results of this study are as follows. The difference in price discount intensity (15% vs 65%) with scarcity showed the mean difference among all the variables. Therefore, this study concluded that there is a significant difference between the price discount of 15% and 65% for the acquisition value and transaction value of users. In particular, consumers' purchase intention is greater and product recommendation intensity is stronger when the price discount is 65%. As a result, the high degree of the price discount intensity with scarcity exerts a greater influence on consumers' purchase intentions. Product scarcity also have a significant impact on perceived value of users. Therefore, purchase intention of customers increases when perceived value increases their profit and pleasure feeling.

Korea-China with the fastest speed Internet Broad Band, has achieved many progresses on Internet shopping. Especially, Korea has made a great effort on comparison website construction. A research prototype design and exploratory analysis are presented to assess success factors and impacts of Korea and China price comparison websites. For different user groups, the relationships between the characteristics of technology and tasks, usage, and organizational impacts were analysed. It shows us how to improve the applicability of fit-viability of the price comparison web sites in China after analysis. These results indicate a need for simple but highly functional price comparison applications. And we designed a sample model to include an interactive web service system for price comparison sites that complement existing information systems. This paper provides a basis for further research aiming to improve the design and management of business applications based on emerging technologies of web service and browser for information management.
