  • Purpose: This study compared the effect of two oral care agents on preventing stomatitis and discomfort for acute leukemic patients. Methods: A total of forty patients was enrolled and randomly assigned to sodium bicarbonate or chlorhexidine group. WHO oral toxicity scale was used for measuring stomatitis and Beck's subjective oral discomfort scale for evaluating oral comfort. Data was collected from August 2009 to February 2010. The data was analyzed using Chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, and Mann-Whitney test. Results: Data analyzed was thirty five one. The incidence of stomatitis was 47.4%, 68.8% in sodium bicarbonate and chlohexidine group respectively. The onset of stomatitis was about the 10th and 9th day after chemotherapy initiation, and the duration was 8.0 and 8.67 day respectively. The severity of stomatitis was highest on the 21st day after chemotherapy initiation. There were no statistical differences in the status of stomatitis and the levels of oral comfort during treatment periods. Conclusion: Nurses should routinely assess oral cavity and encourage patients to do oral care actively from second to third week after chemotherapy initiation. Also sodium bicarbonate agent can be recommended to for preventing stomatitis.

Methods 33 Chinese clinical studies published in last fifteen years were selected for analysis. Results Acupoint sticking treatment on Sambok* is used in asthma, rhinitis, bronchitis. Commonly used herbs are Sinapis Semen(白芥子), Asari Herba Cum Radix(細辛), Euphorbiae Kansui Radix(甘遂), Corydalis Tuber(玄胡索), Moschi Moschus(麝香), Ephedrae Herba(麻黃), Cinnamomi Cortex Spissus(肉桂) and Commonly used acupoints are Feishu(肺兪), Kohwang(膏肓), Shinsu(腎兪), Pisu(脾兪). 33 studies showed that the effect of treatment in different age, symptom, acupoints, herbs, methods. However, it shows that acupoint sticking treatment on Sambok* is effective in various diseases, especially in respiratory disease. Conclusions This study shows that acupoint sticking treatment on Sambok* is effective in preventing many diseases. More clinical studies about acupoint sticking treatment and standardizations to evaluate effectiveness are needed to prove its efficacy clearly.

The intervention was done in 354 enterprises from July to December in 1993 by health personnels in mobile occupational health centers. The summarized results of the above achievements were as follows. 1. Total number of enterprises were 354. Among them $66.9\%$ was under 100 workers, $26.6\%$ was u!1der 200 workers, and $6.5\%$ was belong to over 200 workers. The majority manufactures were non-metallic mineral product industries $(11.3\)$ fabricated metal product industries $(11.0\%)$. and textile industries $(10.7\%)$. 2. In 1993, for 350 enterprises were carried out evaluation of workplace environment. A total of $76.3\%$ industries were found to improper showing higher level of hazardous agent than the TLV. Noise and dust are the typical agent of which levels in workplace were high in most of industries. 3. A total 60 cases $(0.8\%)$ of occupational diseases were detected through physical check-up from 7,394 industrial workers in 1993. Detection rate by hazardous agent was highest among workers in relation to dust, and secondly highest to noise. 4. Through the systematic approach by hazardous agent was increased to the monitoring of work condition and follow up care of occupational disease. In future, there should be development in the scaled check list of preventing occupational disease management.

  • As the existing strategy of preventing DDoS(Distributed Denial of Service) attacks has limitations, this study is intended to suggest the more effective method of preventing DDoS attacks which reduces attack power and distributes attack targets. Currently, DDoS attacks have a wide range of targets such as individuals, businesses, labs, universities, major portal sites and financial institutions. In addition, types of attacks change from exhausting layer 3, network band to primarily targeting layer 7. In response to DDoS attacks, this study suggests how to distribute and decrease DDoS threats effectively and efficiently using Proxy Server Group and Dynamic DNS.

  • There is growing interest in the use of nonpharmacologic approaches to prevent postoperative nausea and vomiting. This study was designed to investigate the effect of acupuncture on P6 for preventing Opioid-induced nausea and vomiting. A total of 83 patients receiving intravenous patient controlled analgesia(PCA) with fentanyl were randomly assigned to two groups. In acupuncture group, they've got treatment after surgery at recovery room for 20minutes. Assessment of nausea and vomiting was obtained from all patients for 48hours. The incidence of nausea, that of vomiting and the nausea grade-the severity of nausea within 48 hours after surgery- were the main outcome measures which showed no statistically significant difference between groups. There is no sufficient evidence to suggest effect of acupuncture on P6 for preventing PONV.

  • Purpose: This study examined the awareness and attitudes of parents of 5th and 6th graders toward own children smoking. Method: The participants were 766 parents of 5th and 6th graders in 11 elementary schools located in J city. Data were collected through questionnaires, which were constructed to include parents' recognition of harms to their own children cause by smoking, factors which influence their children to smoke, and parental supportive strategies to prevent smoking. Result: The percentage of parents who answered that they did not know if their children were smoking was 94.8%, while the percentage of parents who answered that they knew that their children were smoking was 3.5%. Only 30% of parents had actually spoken with their children about the dangers of smoking. The mean parental recognition of the dangers of smoking was 3.16 points. Parental strategy for preventing and prohibiting smoking with the higher mean scores included forbidding children from entering bars and nightclubs which had the highest scores at 3.55 points; forbidding the sale of cigarettes to children was next at 3.54 points. Conclusion: To prevent children from smoking, the role and attitude of parents is crucial. But the study results show that the role of parental guidance in preventing underage smoking was insufficient and under appreciated. Therefore, more systematic educational programs on preventing underage smoking are essential for parents.
